Sasha nodded, "Sasha understand, Mr. Furdian." Though i know my sister will not... she thought to herself. She sighed and looked up at him with a small frown, "Mr. Furdian, sister not want to go with you. Sister want stay with Mr. Zekat." She paused for a few seconds, not fully sure if Furdian would understand what she was about to say. She didn't exactly know how to put it into verbal speech, so she resorted to projecting her thoughts into Furdian. My appologies for entering your mind unbidden, though i'm not exactly sure how to put this in verbal speech. Well, it looks like my sister needs a certain tree that grows here to keep her alive...I read her mind last night and i saw and felt things through her eyes. Her body is, quite literally, made of manna and it falls appart without having a special kind of manna from that tree perform maintinance work on her. also... it looks like she's in love with Mr. Zekat. I also caught a memory she relived a little bit ago when they were both at the river. She thinks they are engaged because he holds an uncanny resemblance to the man she promised to marry. She can't remember his name, and as i was only two at the time i don't remember it either, but i can understand why she'd want to stay. Sasha turned her head and noticed the wierded out look on Furdian's face, "Sasha sorry. Sasha speech... ... ... slow to learn." --- Meg calmly waited for an answer outside the door and did not complain about anything. she just wanted to see if Sieg had a pulse. |

"Huh? Oh... that's right. Just call me Reyfer. Everyone does." Axis settled down. "So you didn't do anything to him?" he asked, trying o fake a light-hearted tone. "It's fine... I'm just meant to be, shall we say, working for that guy. And if you know what I mean, if he kicks the bucket, no pay for me." He smiled weakly, before noticing the thief looking at him oddly. "I'll... uh... just go now," Axis muttered, and kicked the door open again. He noticed the Meg magic girl from earlier standing patiently. Funny, he'd heard her from inside. "You're worried about Zekat?" he asked. She nodded, mutely. "Oh, he should be fine. He's out, he's unconscious, but he's not badly injured. Apparently," he shot a look of contempt at the door behind him, despite its being closed, "the thief guy who found him didn't mug him first. Dunno what's with him, but he should be up soon." His gaze wandered from her to the chair beside her. His eyes widened. "What the... What happened to her? She was fine when she went outside. Did y-" The girl on the chair opened her eyes. Axis noticed that she looked slightly less pale, but she was still in pretty bad shape. "I... want to ask you... some things..." she whispered, as if a voice any louder would hurt her. Axis looked at Meg, then at the door, silently willing someone to give him advice. When none came, he looked back at the girl. "All right," he said. "But you know, it's going to be really noisy around these parts soon. I know that there's an empty room on the other side of the building. It's just down this corridor. Think you can walk that far?" The girl nodded. "Um... thank you," she said. --- She followed the silver-haired stranger. She wasn't sure why. In that brief space between consciousness and waking, she had noticed that her mana had come back... Some of it, anyway. How had it come back? she wondered. According to master, only the Ether can replenish a soul... She was still pretty low, but it was enough to hold everything else together. Now that she thought of it, she hadn't had this much mana since she'd performed... that thing. It was almost comforting, in a foreign land, to know that she wasn't going to fall apart any second. Almost. If she wanted to, she could probably teleport, right here. Back to the citadel, back to where she had been before passing out. It'd probably come at the expense of some of her bones, but as they always told her, bones could be repaired. Minds could not. But she wasn't going to escape. 14 years of suppressed memory pressed down on her conscious mind. She tried to ignore it. |

Meg looked relieved when Axis had told her that Zekat would be alright. Meg took a step to follow the two of them, but decided not too. there was a reason Axis had taken her down there, and it was probably because he wanted to talk to her alone. though, she couldn't help but want to answer her questions. i did manage to get her to a tree and back...though, i'm not quite sure how well she'll fare. i haven't seen that done an an actual... ... human being... ... before. She sat with her back resting against the wall opposite the room Zekat was in. She didn't know if he remembered her, but she wanted to be near him when he woke up. I...i'm not sure what this is, exactly... it's like a flower drawn to the sun, almost. the sun just keeps on going without noticing the flower, but to the flower... without the sun, there is no life. She stood up again and entered the room cautiously. without a word she sat down beside Sieg and watched what was going on. she noticed the new guy had two odd daggars and she stared at them though his cloak. Such power inside of a metal object is not natural. Either he knows somebody who is very skilled in working with manna or he is very skilled in it himself. in either case, let's see how he reacts to this. Meg tapped her foot on the ground three times and sent a very small wave of manna toward the stranger with each tap. she noticed part of it was absorbed by Zekat's motionless body before it ever got to its destination. So he's worn himself to a frazzle... Sieg, wake up soon. please.. She took his hand and watched for the theif's reaction. |

At the other end of the corridor, Axis leaned against the door of the small room and stretched. The girl was sitting on the rough floor, shivering. She still looked scared. Still, Axis mused, some people were paranoid. He'd always looked down on those people. Yeah, the whole world was always out to get you. It was called "people are assholes". Jeez. He yawned. "Anyway... you wanted to ask some stuff?" The girl lowered her head, evidently trying to think of what to ask first. After a few moments, she resorted to the question she had already asked upon waking. "Where am I?" "This place? This is Ruan. Little village. Next to a lake. Erm... it's east of Septra. You've heard of Septra? They have this really big shrine there, kind of famous, dunno what it's for, but anyway... yeah." Axis shrugged. "Don't ask me to go into any more detail, I never payed much attention at school. And I'm not from these parts, either." The girl was silent as she processed this. "That's it?" Axis asked. She shook her head. "I... also wanted to know... who are you? Where did you find me?" "Uhh... me?" the mercenary said almost incredulously. "Well, uh... I'm a mercenary. I... had a job around here, but then I sort of quit, and I was going back to my house... where I live... uh, yeah. And then you were lying on this hilltop practically dead, so I took you back here instead." He conveniently omitted the bit about trying to sit on her. She was quiet again. Axis broke the silence. "So now it's my turn to ask questions," he said. "Mainly, who are you and what would anyone in their right mind have been doing on top of that hill with all the dangerous animals around?" The girl buried her head in her hands. "I... can't tell," she muttered. Then she straightened up and closed her eyes. "I am a mana-weaver," she said. Her voice sounded stronger now, but it also sounded somewhat mechanical, as if she was reciting something. "I served under the great magician Redwing. He established a school of thought which put forward the idea that we who rule over the surface of this world have every right to claim ownership of what lies beneath. Our ultimate goal is to find a way to tap into the planet's life force, and use it for the good of our people..." She trailed off and suddenly appeared to become extremely interested in the grimy window behind her. Axis rolled his eyes, knowing that the girl couldn't see. Another freaking magician, go figure. Still, he wasn't likely to ever see her again, so he might as well put up with it. "I... don't think you understood the first bit," he pressed. "What's your name? Don't you have a family?" The girl shook her head in response to the second question, before answering the first. "They used to call me... Deph Reyfer," she said. A few moments later, the girl ran back up the corridor, greatly confused. "Uh... miss?" she called into the room. "Say... did you know that guy in the green cloak? I didn't do anything to him, but you might want to pour some cold water on him or something..." |

Furidan re-gathered his things, making sure he had everything. "You'll need a weapon, though an axe is too big for you, so I'll get you a bow and arrow, if you know how to use one of these. We should get going now too if we want to rescue Brann. I don't trust the Centuars to keep their prisoners alive for too long seeing as how they eat other humanoids." |

Meg nodded at Deph and thanked her. she wasn't about to leave Sieg's side, but what Deph said made sense. cold water tends to wake people up from just about anything. She stood up and got a cold washrag, and put it on Sieg's forehead. She watched for a reaction. --- "Sasha know how to use bow. Sasha practiced. Thank you for taking Sasha." She gathered her stuff, which wasn't much, and smiled at Furdian. "Sasha say goodbye to sister and meet Mr. Furdian front of hotel?" |

Deph sighed. She'd forgotten, in her years of exile, how confusing spoken language could be. "Well, uhh... Hope he comes round soon," she said cautiously, before running off again. Back in the small room, she knelt beside the mercenary. This was stupid. Mana was too precious to waste on strangers. But he seemed to know her, and she wasn't exactly famous, was she? She extended a hand, placing it above his forehead. Root of life, come to me! Her limited mana could only do so much. Under normal circumstances, that spell would have practically flooded this... what did he call it? Ruan? A loud sneeze told her it had done its job, though. The man's eyes flickered open. "Ohhh, great," he muttered, and stood up. "So I'm not seeing things?" As an answer, Deph indicated the small puddle which was rapidly soaking into the floor. He shrugged. "Well, uh, Deph... We need to talk some more later... But for now, I'm going to check up on that guy back there. His name's Zekat, he's sort of my employer right now. Are you coming?" Deph shook her head mutely. By now, she had figured that talking wasn't worth the trouble it caused. The mercenary looked somewhat deflated. "Oh... okay. See you around." The door closed behind him. |

Ark closed the door behind him, and stared into the clouds through the window. "Reyfer. I've heard the name before." He shrugged and examined the other rooms. There was nothing to steal, and he knew it, but he was hoping, perhaps, for something genuinely interesting to be found. He bumped into Reyfer himself halfway down the hall. "Pretty light pocket you have, for a mercenary." A statement which made the mercenary spin and lunge for Ark's throat, grabbing him by the collar and slamming him against the wall. "Easy now, neither of us needs to get hurt. I was just learning a little more about you, is all." He slid, snake-like out of Reyfer's grasp, and disappeared down the hall, a small path of red mist sent from under his cloak. "Also, I didn't take anything, mind you," came a fading voice, down the hall. Sieg stirred. His mind was thick and heavy. He slowly blinked away the darkness, and found it replaced by a familiar face. "Meg..?" |

Axis waited until the thief had disappeared into the door down the hall before scowling and raising a gloved middle finger. Then he checked to see if he could really trust that thief. Money - check. Spear - in the other room. Looked like he was good to go. He turned to the direction of the room where Zekat was, kicking its door open like he always did. Zekat was sitting up. His eyes look slightly glazed over, but other than that he looked fine. "Oh, you're awake? So what happened to you?" (edit: yey 100th) |

"All right, you can see off your sister and I'll wait outside the inn" Furidan said. He made his way down the stauis and was outside the inn. Outside he saw a crowd surrounding three people on horses. Furidan wanted to see who was so important. He made his way to thr people and pushed his way through. "Out of the way, Dwarven king coming through" he said. One of the men spoke to him. "Did I hear that you are the King of the noble Dwarves" the man in front asked him. "Yes, and you are" Furidan asked. "Surely a leader of a people would know about me" he said. He removed his helmet and replaced it with a crown. "These people know that I am Samuel Jenkins, the prince of the human kingdoms, one of humanity's most notable warriors." Fruidan gasped, and then the people quickly bowed to their prince. "Say Dwarf, what brings you out of the mountains" Sam asked. "Just questing. I need to go to Kalgoure" Furidan asked. "Kalgoure? That land is forbidden for humans to set foot in, it's very dangerous. The world would be much better if that land was done with. Though, I'm sure you Dwarves can handle it. I've heard tales of your wars with some of its inhabitants" Sam said. "Here, you'll need this." Sam tossed Furidan a map. Furidan thanked him and made his way to the path, while waiting for Sasha. Sam stepped off his horse. He made his way into the inn and spoke to the inkeeper. "Innkeep. I wish to stay here for a few nights" he said. "My lord, never we have had someone of your honour stay here. Please take a key for our finest room, free of charge. What brings you here"the inkeep said. "I am looking for one called Seig Zukat. He runs a militia here, and I've come for inspection of the troops and for personal matters" Sam said. "He's in that room over there" the innkeeper said while pointing. "Thank you" Sam said, making his way to the said room while the innkeeper bowed. He opened the door, only to find a woman there and Seig unconscience. "Why is my cousin laying there" Sam asked, waiting for a respone. (In case you can't tell, this is my new character. I'll post his profile later.) |

(whoa...that puts a damper on things...>_< though he's concious now. *points to Hizero's post* ) Sasha thanked Furdian and hurridly ran off to say goodbye to her sister. ---- Meg was overjoyed and smiled at hearing Sieg speak her name. She took his hand with one of her hands and smoothed a few hairs out of his face with the other, "Yeah, it's me." She was about to ask how he felt when she heard small footsteps at the door and a voice in the back of her mind saying to turn around. she turned her head and saw Sasha standing in the doorway with everything she owned on her person. She toddled into the room and hugged Meg, "Bye sister. Mr. Furdian take me to mountains to help win centaur war. Mr. Furdian take good care of Sasha." Meg's eyes went wide as she hugged her sister with one arm - the one hand never left Sieg's hand. "Be careful, Sasha. oh, and i managed to train a carrier pidgeon. if you need to talk to me you can send it to me with a letter wrapped on its leg." "Sasha understand. where pidgeon?" "Out front, sitting on the gate. it's got a red ribbon tied around its ankle." "Okay." Sasha also touched Sieg's shoulder, "Sasha glad Mr. Zetat awake. Sister take good care of Mr. Zetat." Sasha smiled at them both and projected her thoughts into Meg's mind, That's for not coming to help me when Furdian fell in the river. Meg's eyes went wide, so that WAS you! Sasha, i never heard what you said, i just heard somebody trying to call somebody else! oh. well, in any case, now he knows you're head over heals for him. just don't get yourself hurt while i'm gone, alright? i'm not going to erase your memory again. Meg lowered her eyes, I never asked you to erase it in the first place. "Well... take care, Sasha." "Sister take care too." Sasha ran out of the room and went to meet Furdian. Meg turned her eyes back to Sieg and smiled. she took the wet washcloth out of his lap so it didn't -totally- soak the sheets beneath it. She looked into his eyes and asked, "How do you feel...Sieg?" There was a touch of something different in her tone of voice when she said his name. Meg realized it and made a mental note to guage her speech patterns more clearly before she spoke again. if Sieg was paying attention, he would be able to tell what the difference was in her voice. there was a touch of love in it. Just then Sam walked in and asked why his cousin laying there. Meg stood up and bowed immediately, "I have no idea what happened to him, my lord. I was told someone found him unconcious someplace and brought him back. To be quite honest, your excellency, I am glad he did." Meg gave them both a polite smile as she offered Sam her chair. ----- Sasha was having trouble finding Furdian in the crowd, and was getting pushed around a little too much for her liking. Mr. Furdian, these people refuse to let me onto the path. I cannot get though... Just the one of the strangers hoited her up onto his shoulders, "Where to, little missie?" Sasha spotted Furdian, "Sasha want to go to Mr Furdian," She said, pointing to him so the man would know where to go. "You want to see the Dwarven-king?" "Yes please. Mr. Furdian say he let Sasha help with quest." "Alright. i don't see how a youngling like yourself could possibly help a Dwarven king, but alright." The man took Sasha over to Furdian and put her down in front of him. "Sir, this youngling says she is helping you on your quest...?" |

Furidan nodded. "Yes, she's helping me. Thanks for finding here" Furidan said. Furidan walked with Sasha to where he left the horses. "Before we go, there's a few things I want to make clear" Fruidian said in a friendly, but serious voice. "For starters, stay with me at all times, so no wondering off no matter how great your curoisity may be. Secondly, we travel by night, as the Centuar are more active during the day. We may have to kill orcs and Centuars for our protection. I don't want you doing that, so only do that if either of us in danger. Eat the food only when you are hungry, likewise with the water. Lastly, should anything ever happen to me, I want you to carry this letter eithr back here, or to the Dwarven town of Waterside at the other side of the continent. Is this understood?" ---------------- "No, you may sit. I've sat on a horse the past few days, so I could use a break from it" Sam said. This woman looks strangely familiar to me.I wonder. She does look similar to the girl I met so long ago before being called off to war. Perhaps she is the one. "And who might you be young lady, I believe we've met before" Sam asked, hoping she would remember him. ---------------------- Name: Samuel Jenkins Age: 22 Gender: Male Weapon: Two one handed swords, shield if necessarry Magic: None that he knows of, though he has telepathic powers Job: Prince of the Human Kingdoms, Commander in the army Family: True parents deceased, no siblings. He was adopted by the King and Queen of the human lands. He recently discovered Seig is his distant cousin, though only Sam knows of this. He is very similar in appearence to Seig, but has kept better care of himself. Bio: Raised by the King of the human kingdoms, he is the prince. He joined the army as soon as he could, and proved to be a great warrior. He quickly rose through the ranks, gaining admiration and respect at a young age. He once was proposed to his only love, but he was called to war and cancelled it. It is presumed she has forgotten about him as well. He has since forgotten about her. Everyone in the human lands knows of him, and almost all the people respect him At Beginning: He's travelling to Raun, for personal and political matters |

Sieg said, rather awkwardly, "Cousin? I don't remember much about my family, but I don't remember my father ever having a brother, lest a royal one at that." He rubbed his head, trying to remember. From what he had read of the Zekat line, only one sibling of each generation had ever had children, and there was a complete male line for possibly hundreds of generations, since the Godhand had been introduced into it, at least... Perhaps a very distant cousin? It would be horribly unlikely... Sieg shook his head, and looked back at Meg. "So many interruptions tonight, I'm sorry... As for you," he added, turning back to Samuel, "Exactly, what do you want from this empty town?" --------------------------------- Ark found a few Zenny 'lying about', and was idly tossing his pathetic sack of coins about. "Zekat... Reyfer... I know these names, but from where?" He never recalled reading any books about either of the lines, nor could he recall the names being mentioned in a tavern somewhere. __________________________________________ A little about the Zekat line: The Zekat line in the times of RA has approximately half Eldrenian blood, the actually amount having been lost over time. The first Eldrenian known to have married into the line was a woman who was the last of the line that carried the Godhand, the name having been long forgotten. By pure chance, or by trick of Fate, every descendant of the Zekat line has been male after acquiring the Godhand. As already stated, it is only known that one sibling each generation had children, creating but a single known tree. The most famous of the line are those who had a part in the tale of the Hero, known as RA. These would be, in order of generation, Sieghart Zekat, Richter and Vincent Zekat, and Hiroshi and Kamon Zekat. Hiroshi and Kamon appeared to be reincarnated in a later chapter of RA, as well as their father, Richter. They, however, possessed no memory of their lives in that era, though the prophet Slyer does not believe that they somehow managed to become reincarnated into the same selves they were, with old memories, through the use of magic. He believed it to be a necessary meddling of reality on Fate's part, as Richter Zekat was known to have died at age 26, he reappears at age 43 in the final chapter of RA, Soul of the Hero. This, however, is of little importance. The single tree trait continued through them, however, Vincent was trapped in a mage's crystal for a great many years, and Hiro committed himself to a suicidal magic, the most destructive Light magic: Light Epsilon, leaving his brother Kamon to continue the line. Boring plot-ness, yes, but I felt it necessary. If Sam is a distant relative of the Zekat line, it would be a great many generations apart. |

Meg blushed as she returned to her seat, "Thank you Sir. My name is Natasha Rainmaker. I am commonly called Meg for short... and Sieg...it's alright." She looked up at Sam and smiled politely, and then the memory of the proposal at the river came to mind and she relived every second of it. Holy... ... i know i was in that place before, and that memory is not planted...Sasha checked. So how in the world was it brought back up at a time like... Then she remembered Sam speaking, "why is my cousin laying there?" So...he and Sieg are... She quickly folded her hands in her lap as she understood where the memory came from. His face sparked it... where, when i first looked at Sieg, the memory was not sparked in any way, shape or form... ... they resemble each other very much, there is little difference between their facial features and build. so that means... my proposal by the river... could have been to either of these men! Gods i'm confused... at that moment she realized that someone was probing her thoughts, and it wasn't Sasha. She blushed and looked down, hoping it wasn't either of the two men in the room with her. ----- "Sasha understand Mr. Furdian. Sasha not need much to stay alive." She took the letter and took off her backpack. she opened it to reveal a few apples she had snitched from the inn and a bottle of some sort, with a lot of trinkets and other childish items, such as a stuffed animal. a necklace glinted in the sunlight and probably caught Furdian's attention. it was a gold locket that had Meg's initials, N.R., on it. Sasha put up the letter and didn't notice the locket. She closed her pack and put it back on, "Sasha ready, Mr. Furdian!" She smiled at him, ready to go. |

"all right, I'll get you up" Furidan said as he helped her get on a horse. He climbed up on his own. "Now, I'll go first, then you go shortly after me. We go down this path for two days, then a guard will let us pass. Then it's thirty days to Brann's prison compound, after that it's ten days to the place where I place the sphere, but we must spend another thirty days going to and from the Dwarven town to warn them of the continent's destruction. We'll be gone for a while, so I hope you're ready." Furidan sped off, checking back to see if Sasha was following him. ---------------- Sam had quickly read Meg's mind for a split second, but immediately turned his attention back to Seig. "Yes, I didn't know either. But that was when I discovered this chart" Sam said. Sam took out a rolled up piece of parchment and unrolled it. It was a family chart, showing many pictures of people and arrows pointing in different directions. All people were marked "deceased", except for the pictures that read Seig Zukat and Samuel Jenkins. "It looks like many years ago, one of our decendants on your side had a brief affair on someone in my side, so this leads me to believe that we are cousins, but very distant. We still are family" Sam said. Sam tried his best to hide his thoughts from Meg, so he quickly went back to Seig. "I'm also here for an inspection of this town and your troops. The King wants to know if they are up to his qualifications. Though, I must say you have done a good job at protecting this fair town. I will put in a good word about you" Sam said. He then finally turned his attention to Meg. It appears we both have the powers of telepathy. I will try my best to control it, and will only read yours with your permission. Perhaps later when Seig recovers, we could go for a walk? There is something I shouldtell you. |

Meg's heart skipped a beat when she heard Sam's voice in the back of her mind; She instantly looked at her hands, not quite sure of how to act with royalty about, let alone a rather attractive male royalty projecting his thoughts into her own mind. she was calmed at the sound of it and - just for a moment - wished he'd figure out he'd forgotten something and speak again. when he was silent for a moment or two she projected her thoughts as well, aa...thank you for respecting my privacy, your excellency. I will not read your mind unbidden either. Sir, i would love to go on a walk with you and listen to whatever you wish to speak with me about. Meg looked up at Sam and then smiled her best smile, "Your excellency is very thorough in his research." She reached out and gently took Sieg's hand again, and started slowly siphoning off manna into him to speed his recovery. She wanted to be alone with Sam to hear whatever it was he had to say to her... she had a funny feeling it'd help clear something up about that memory she had of the river's proposal. ----- Sasha nodded a silent "thank you" to Furdian and looked at the back of the horse's head. she didn't know how to ride, but her telepathy could make it look like she did. Hello, friend. could you please follow my dwarven companion at his same speed? The horse neighed and reared up, almost throwing Sasha off. She grabbed onto the horse's neck and hung on for dear life, and when the horse got back down she spoke to it in telepathy again, I know hearing my voice in your head and not your ears is frightening to you, but I cannot speak out loud very well. I apologize for startling you. I also know you do not wish to leave Ruan, it is a very beautiful place. I was born and raised here myself until the age of two, but i can promise you that, if things turn out the way i plan them to, you will be able to come back to these hills again. The horse turned its head to look at her and neighed again. please? i've got an apple for you if you'll follow the dwarf. The horse lowered its head slightly and turned it forward, taking off at great speed to catch up with the dwarf and his horse. thank you my friend. the horse whinnied in response. Sasha laughed, yes, i do have an apple for you. i'll give it to you the next time the dwarf stops his horse. |

Sam looked back at Meg and smiled. Thanks for the same. But now's not a good time. Since I'm royality, I get everybody running up to meet me. It's annoying really, so I think that tonight we could walk. Just so nobody is swarming us. ----------------- Furida slowed down, waiting for Sasha to catch up. "We'll stop in about ten hours for sleep, until then we ride. We'll stop to eat every three hours" Furidan said. But a journey this long would be boring, so why not make conversation? I would like to know, how come someone so young is this brave and fearless? Even some Dwarves fear to go where we're going." |

Meg found herself fighting back a blush when Sam smiled at her. She nodded, You're quite welcome, Excellency. I understand. Is there a certain place you would have me wait for you? An image of herself taking a walk with her past love in the moonlight was sparked and she nearly melted in the chair. She shook her head, unsure of whether Sam got the mesage or not, and regained her composure as best she could, ah, my appologies, Excellency. it's just... ... you remind me of someone I knew a long time ago. ----- Sasha smiled as her horse slowed to Furdian's speed and she searched for the words to say, and figured out how to say them. "Sasha not fearless. Sasha afeared of spiders and snakes and bees and thunder. Sasha not know everything dwarves know about destination; Sasha not afeared of funny looking half-horse." Sasha's horse jumped over something invisible and whined. I'm sorry, i didn't mean to offend you. it's just that centaurs have the bodies of horses and the torsoes of men, and it makes them look kinda funny. the horse calmed down and quit acting wierd. "Sasha brave because Sasha mom and dad say do what feels right. Sister say mom and dad long dead, and protect Sasha and whoever Sasha with. Sasha trust Mr. Furdian, Mr. Furdian nice person." |

Yes, you bring back certain memories to me as well. You remind me of someone I once knew. But that war affected me alot. I don't want to trouble with details for now. Any place away from people is fine with me. Seig's probably suspecting something, don't you think? Sam then quickly started talking again. "Well, I sure hope that Dwarf is going to be fine in Kalgoure. Those barren lands are higly dangerous, which is why it is forbidden for our people to enter them. He's lucky to survive two days there. If the creatures don't kill him, the demonic corruption will surely drive him mad. What an adventurous fellow though, braving into that land" ---------------- "That's good to hear" Furidan said. "We Dwarves are ussually a fearless race, though there are somethings in here that I wouldn't go near with an army backing me up. I forgot to tell anyone there that I am in fact a paladin. So should sometihng happen to you, I can always heal you and protect you from harm for brief periods. I can even ressurect, but that's only if I have enough mana. Kalgoure is known to have several mana pools. I'll use my powers sparringly, should Brann be dead by the time we reach him. Now you'll feel safer going in here" |

Meg flushed when she heard Sam say she brought back memories for him as well. She suddenly became inrigued with her own shoes and smiled, Yeah, Sieg suspects something. He's tense and his manna is doing wierd things. I know a place we can meet. Meg projected an arial map of the area and marked an X between the back of the inn and the horse stables, close to the inn. Nobody went there at night, nobody had any reason to. Meg's face instantly took on a look of horror when she registered what Sam had said verbally, "N-No kidding? Well...my sister... a very small, eight-year-old girl, named Sasha... went with him. Infact she insisted on it... and she's just as human as you or Sieg." She wouldn't say she was human. that would be an untruth, and she didn't wish to lie to anyone. ----- Sasha smiled at Furdian, "Sasha thank Mr. Furdian for tell Sasha." She suddenly went quiet and shut her eyes, projecting her thoughts into Furidian's mind, We are being watched. I can hear them thinking as clear as daylight on a midsummer's morning...they're close. I think there are three of them, but i can't make out what race they belong to. |

Sam was taken aback by what Meg said. "You mean she's out there in that wasteland with the Dwarf? Well then, we must send a rescue team back to her. There's no hope for her in there. The demonic corruption holds greatly on most parts of the land, and it would surely cripple her young mind. Though, that Dwarf did tell me he was a paladin, so perhaps he has some powers to protect them. Sam then transferred some of his thoughts to Meg. Meg, I can't say this outloud, because Seig would greatly overeact to it. We can't let Sasha go in there. The creatures there make enemies with whatever race they see. If they spot your sister, that would mean the inhabitants of Kalgoure would wage war on human lands! We already have enough trouble witth the undead and other forces. We must send some forces to bring her back before it's too late. -------------------- Furidan was immeadietely on guard after what Sasha told him. "Stay back" Furidan warned. Fruidan took out his axe while on the horse, and he charged at the three attackers. They were orcs. Furidan caought up with them, and with one swing of his axe, one was beheaded. He jumped off his horse and rolled on the ground, quickly getting up. He swung his axe at one of them, but it blocked the attack with its sword. The other came at the side and was ready to slice Furidan at his side. However, a bow made contact with its side, causing it to fall down. Furidan regained his grip on his axe, and with some built-in Dwarven fury he continued to hit the orc's sword until it dropped it. Disarmed, the orc ran in Sasha's direction. Thinking quickly, Furidan threw his axe at the orc's back, killing it upon impact. Furidan took out the axe out of the orc's dead body. "I'm fine. Thanks for the help bck there. Let's get moving" Fruidan said to Sasha who looked slightly disturbed. Furidan went back to his horse and hopped on. He was soon on his way again. |

Deph was still sitting on the floor of the room at the other end of the "NN", lost in her thoughts. She heard some commotion in some other part of the building. A lot of adult whispering, a lot of moving around. There might have been horses in it somewhere, it was hard to tell - they had, after all, gone into this room becuse no-one could disturb her here. Not that Deph was concentrating too hard on whatever was going on elsewhere. The things that her master had instilled in her mind were still fresh, and one of the first ones she had been taught was that it was a dangerous thing to become too attached to this world, at any time. She could sense a lot of thoughts being exchanged in the vicinity, though. Telepathy. She'd never trusted that art. Minds were complex. You need both a strong spirit and an iron will to break through the barriers of human psyche without severely damaging your own consciousness. Right now, Deph had neither. She resisted trying to put up a mental wall herself, though. No thanks to the water spell she had cast on the mercenary, she was out of mana. Again. Well, not entirely out - she knew that she wasn't exactly going to collapse any moment now. But doing even the smallest magic would start to damage her physical being, and she wouldn't be able to count on anyone to save her this time. Besides, how many people knew she was here? The mercenary guy - who showed absolutely no signs of magical capability in the slightest - and that other girl, the one with the odd soul pattern. On second thoughts, that last one wasn't so comforting. Deph sighed and moved on top of the bed. If he didn't come back soon, she was going to go out there and remind him. But until then, she could afford to just sit back. |

Meg looked at Sam with more fear in her face than anything else. "So, she wouldn't be able to communicate with anything or anybody if she enters that land? That must be pretty powerful stuff... her speach was impaired from the moment of her birth because of her telepathy... and if the dwarf is a paladin, he didn't mention it to me." Hm, war with any race they see? is this a constant thing? the dwarf plans to destroy those lands and all its inhabitants completely. Sasha let me know that though some of her thoughts, though she refused to say how he was going to do it. If you can convince my sister to come back with you i will be greatly implressed, she has an iron will. I'll help try to get her back in any way possible, though i doubt she'll listen to me. --- Sasha nodded and tried to get the images of the fight to leave her mind. the dwarf is a good fighter, but the orc came after ME when it saw me... these things have no care for the innocince of the young. perhaps it is a bad idea to go with the dwarf. "Mr. Furdian, why orcs so mean? why orcs not like Dwarves?" |

Axis shrugged and headed back to the room where he had left Deph. Pffft, and they called themselves authority. If they really were all they said, there wouldn't have been any problem with undead or whatever in the first place. Deph was sitting on the bed in the room now, staring at her feet. She jerked her head up on hearing the door open. "How is that guy doing now?" she asked. ...she doesn't know me... Axis fought to maintain his self-control. "Yeah, he's okay. He's awake now. Him and his girl got caught up with this, I dunno, king or whatever. So I let them be." Deph eyed him warily. "You looked like you have... something on your mind," she ventured. ...she DOESN'T know me... He shook his head. Trying to avoid eye contact, he tossed his small bag onto the floor and started searching through it. After a few moments, he straightened up and thrust a crumpled, yellowing piece of paper into the surprised Deph's hand. "I'm gonna go get a drink," he said shortly. He picked the bag up again and left. --- Deph stared after the blank door. She heard his footsteps fade away into the general cacophony that was the rest of the building. All right, so telepathy was imprecise, risky and unnecessary. But sometimes, she still wished she could perform it. She looked at the piece of paper. It was a pencil drawing of a person, no older than a teenager, holding a longbow and wearing a stupid expression. It was also inexpertly shaded in. She looked at the picture more closely. Its subject had long hair and looked oddly similar to the mercenary. She wondered why he had wanted to give her a picture of himself. There were a few words, scrawled in an untidy script at the bottom of the sheet of paper. She read them with some difficulty. by arbalen & deph |

Sam was surprised to hear about the Dwarf destroying the land. I wonder how he planse to do it. It's literally impossible to destroy a land without help from the Gods, but I know of no ways for them to be summoned. Unless the Dwarf knows howto, he's acting under some false story. Sam then spoke outloud. "You most likely won't be able to communicate to her while she's in there, so I suggest we follow and convince her to come back. If we manage to reach her in time, we could take her, though I perfer the former option. All right, Meg you and Seig can help me case them. However, it may be too late. They left about a day ahead of us, so unless we travel for two full days without sleep, we might be able to reach them just before the enterance. The guard there should stall them. I'll be waiting outside, if you two want to come along." Sam then replaced his crown with his helmet, and proceeded his way outside. He made his wayto his horse accompianed by his two body guards. "Guards, I'll be heading towards Kalgoure for the next couple of days. I'm ordering you to stay here and keep watchof any suspicious activity. I won't be going in, Im trying to stop someone from entering it" Sam said. The guards nodded as Sam rode his horseto the enterance to the inn. ---------------------------- "It's in their nature to hate everyone except themselves and their allies. They constantly harass the Dwarves living in Kalgoure. However, they usually stay within their camps. Something must have scared these three off" Furidan said. "Don't worry about that place, I have been there several times before and have come out all right. Just stick close to me and you'll be fine." |

Sieg said suddenly "This is our last night here, make use of it." He stood up and looked at Meg. "I'm going to find answers, and I need to stop that thing that was here before. We're heading to the West, to that place the old man mentioned. I have this feeling that there will be answers to a lot of questions found there." He turned towards the door, pocketing his right hand quickly to hide his Godhand. He himself wasn't sure what it was, though through it he could feel the pulsing flow of mana from Meg's telepathy. He found the handle of the door with great difficulty, and pulled it open. On the other side he found a cloaked man who scrambled off in a hurry, obviously eavesdropping. Sieg sighed, and he wondered just what he was doing. His men were ready to move out, why was he still lingering in this town? Nostalgia? Or... was it that memory? He couldn't get it out of his head, her face flashed into sight when he closed his eyes. He walked out of the 'NN', and climbed onto the roof, and sat in a very familiar spot. The same spot where he had been crouched in the rain, with his rifle at the ready. Ark Riley was not a man for discreetion when eavesdropping on something that would not get him pay. He had, however, heard a few things of interest. The ring he had bought off the shady trader did, in fact work. What it did was allow him to intercept thoughts being read by a psychic, but not at the same clarity. It did not give him true telepathy, nor did he want that, though he found it a handy tool for finding things of interest. In this instance, he had uncovered a gold mine. But to stay with Sieg or with that girl? He hoped they'd move together for the next few chapters in this little play he'd run into. |

Meg was taken aback at the sudden flight of the two men. holy shit, they ran off in a hurry. well...i'm going to say goodbye to Sieg and then go off with Sam. Sasha won't budge from the dwarf unless i'm there to help. Meg scrambled after Sieg, "Hey. I'm sorry i have to leave you alone..."\ She blushed and touched his shoulder, "It looks like Sasha didn't bother to take the pidgeon with her. please take it so we can communicate." She spoke the next line in a hurried whisper, "I'll miss you. may the Gods protect you." She slid off the roof like an expert and landed on her feet. She grabbed a white horse out of the stable and got on bareback, and rode to Sam's side. "I'm coming with you. there's no way on this planet Sasha will come back with you if i'm not there as well. She's pretty stubborn for a kid her age." She looked back and spotted Sieg in the distance. She suddenly wished she had kissed him goodbye before she slid off the roof, but she probably wouldn't have had the nerve to do so. I have had some dealings with dwarves. most of them are very honest and trustworty people, i doubt the dwarven king would be acting under a false story. "So...perhaps we can strike up a conversation of some sort? what was it you wanted to talk to me about?" She looked around - the sun was starting to slip lower in the sky. it wouldn't be but a few more hours until it was completely dark outside. ---- "Sasha understand. Orcs much like momma." she then looked at him with an unreadable expression on her face and projected her thoughts to him, Mr. Furdian, I'm beginning to wonder why people are so afraid of this place we're going to. yeah, they have military might but that can be countered with a larger army. people fear things for a reason, and i'd like to know the reason why that place is feared, please. Her horse whinnied and stopped. "Oh, right. Sasha promise horsey Sasha apple." Sasha dug though her pack and got out one of the apples she had snitched and gave it to her horse, "Horsey enjoy apple. Apple fresh." The horse quickly enjoyed the apple and then began trotting along beside Furdian and his horse again. |

Sieg sat in silence, lost in thought. "Issvyar... May you walk under the light of Issvyar..." he called, entirely too late. "So she's leaving, hmm? Guess I'll just have to stay with this lug then." He thoughtfully gnawed at the food on his plate, bought, of course, with the Zenny he 'found' earlier. "Perhaps there's a library in this town..." he said, with a shrug, and left his plate half-eaten, for a stroll through the empty streets. The doors were left open, dressers left empty, though much else was still in place, save anything of worth. He came upon one house, however, that found it's door closed and locked, with a brooding essence about it. Bars were set in place of windows, and a sole candle cast an eerie shadow through them. Places such as these, lit with magic candles, were always known to contain things of interest, and just the kind that Ark preferred. He set about picking the lock like the expert he was, when an all too familiar voice accosted him from behind. -insert random other person's character here- |

Meg had heard Sieg's call because of her telepathy. one has to think thoughts to say them, and she heard him think it. She blushed and hid her thoughts from Sam while projecting them into Sieg's mind, Thank you, Sieg. I have a feeling i'll need all the help i can get. I...I"m not quite sure how to say this, but...um...I like you as more than a friend. I pray we can meet again someday. She then unblocked her thoughts from Sam and waited for his response. |
