Greetings, people! Simon is my name. I'm 20 (going on 21) and I come from Sweden. I've been completely in love with the Junior Eurovision ever since 2003, at which time I was 9 years old. I was rather excited when I heard there'd be a Eurovision for kids, and I wasn't disappointed at the big night, when I watched it together with my grandma, eating chips. I wasn't even disappointed with the winning song! As you may know, Sweden sent two girls with a mediocre song that year. I was surprised it didn't do worse! :P It was quite a hit at the time, though. The girls got to perform on some rather big TV show prior to JESC, and some girls in my class mimed to the song at the weekly "fun hour", as well as sang it on recess. After JESC, however, that soon faded away and everyone looked forward to next year, and you know the drill! Since that year, I watched it on TV every year excluding 2008, when TV4 had to withdraw a Swedish entry due to other broadcasting plans at the moment. Seeing the JESC really made me very interested in taking part. Thing is, I wasn't all that interested in the national final (Lilla Melodifestivalen, or Stage Junior as it was called when TV4 handled the selection for a few years). I believe I only ever watched it once or twice on TV. I would've needed to have at least applied for the national final, but that never realized, either because I didn't feel motivated to compete there (should I have made it) only to possibly lose to a mediocre girl group, or because I didn't have any song that would've been palatable to the judges. Nonetheless, before I had time to spell out the full name of the contest, I had grown too old. Luckily, they implemented a rule in 2008 allowing seniors (16+) to take part, so that's my only hope to ever make it in the JESC, should I find a kid to participate, but enough of that for now. :D I hope my stay here will be fun, and that I will get to exchange ideas and information with you all! |

Yes, Stoppa mig was quite a hit. With the JESC being a novelty at the time, it's rather understandable that the song got attention. I can't remember hearing it on the radio or anything, but they got to perform it live on a rather big national TV show, I remember. My favorite songs from 2003 were the entries from Romania and Belarus I can't remember which I voted for. Besides that, I really liked the Romanian entry from 2006, as well as the Montenegrin and Croatian entries from last year. My favorite Swedish entries are the two most recent ones. Sweden has really improved in recent years, but it's a pity that hasn't been noticed on the scoreboard. Yes, I do compose my own songs. I've always dreamed of a career in music. I started composing already when I was like 10-11, but I don't know if the quality would've been desirable for Junior Eurovision. Still, if I get the chance to submit an entry, I will take it. My aspiration now is to form a band. The songs I write are in 50's-60's style, which is the style I want for my band. |

Yes, as a matter of fact I did. I wasn't aware of its existence at the time. I do remember one of the Swedish songs "Superduperkillen" being a hit at the time. I had no idea where it came from then; I just thought it was just another pop song sung by a young girl like many other at that time (eurodisco was quite a thing at the time). |

Ooh you like all the kiddy songs, good, me too :D If not for JESC, you could submit a song to adult MF. Or find a Dutch kid to enter JSF with your song :D |

Actually, I applied for the adult MF some years ago. I didn't make it. Retrospectively, I thought my song was mediocre :D If the author rules of JSF are as liberal as in MF, that is allowing foreign songwriters to take part, provided that one of the authors is Dutch, I guess that could be an option :) |
