Yep. So her not qualifying might have had something to do with that too, but the fact that Magni's been in the top 2 like every year basically since he's taken part makes me think he'll get the wildcard. And it was hard to say if his performance was underwhelming or if he suffered more than Yohanna, since Yohanna was pitch perfect as always.

Song 2: Jógvan Hansen & Stefanía Svavarsdóttir – Til Þín (For You)
Song 5: Unnur Eggertsdóttir – Ég Syng! (I’m Singing!)
Song 4: Haraldur Reynisson – Vinátta

Qualified.

what? no Erna? and there were better songs in the semi.

At this rate I'm cheering for the munchkin duo just because it's corny, sweet and a bit different.

I'll be cheering for ''Unnur Eggertsdóttir – Ég Syng! (I’m Singing!)'' because I don't like any other song of the selection. :P

WTF why is Brigitta the likely winner when the better version of her song didn't even qualify from semi 2?
How is their no Erna :o
Iceland is fucking up this year, I doubt I'll like them because it's between that snooze guy with the weird name and Birgitta :x

Bree why can't people just let you like whatever song makes you happy, or feel something, without having to justify why as song as un-classy as Beautiful Song would make you happy. I hate how fanwankers of songs like Suus and Kaas make people that like other types of songs feel inferior and like they're not intelligent. Personally I'll diss any song I hate and say people have no taste but still anyone should just listen to whatever they like! Even if they want to say how genuine and emotional Rona is (I totally find her contrived) but I am sick of escforum and people being SOOOO judgmental over people with different tastes.

because esc fans have a penchant for crooners. it's like they drank too much wine and need to be rocked to sleep by their mommies with some lullaby. the maturity level of the men on that forum is lower than the men we have on our jesc forum who are miles above them maturity wise and in open minded genres which may have more to do with being jesc fans who aren't stuck in a "type" of a song..

plus old schoolers have this thing for overdone slow croony ballads. that's why the esc is such a stagnant contest and evolves slowly as loreen's win and show the way.

They say they like "emotional" songs, like listening to music to make you feel happy and empowered makes you really dumb. But what they classify as emotional, sometimes I have no idea how they get emotion out of it (eg Kaas) and other times I feel they're being pretentious, like with Rona's fake crying. And like EVERY ballad is that emotional, a ballad can be trash just as much as an upbeat song!

so they like being depressed xD happiness is an emotion, so is anger, so is anxiety. people's emotional level will influence the kind of music they like.

personally i'm pretty free in my emotions, i can jump all over the place and i consider myself open minded to any genre. my k-pop fetish is because i like mindless happy upbeat music. i don't intellectually analyze it some fans need to pick a song apart. it's like you said, just enjoy what you enjoy.

i won't play the european pretentious card (out of respect for marjo) but.. i see a lot of it in this contest and fan's reactions to songs like suus or patricia kaas or that horrible portugese thing in..what was it..2008?.

contrived emotion is obvious to me in a song. i don't mind songs with some sense of forlornness or upset but not out right depressing. jesus, do the TT Dance...get over your sorrow!
