TRT, the national Turkish broadcaster, has announced in a communique on their official website that Turkey will not compete at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden next May. The broadcaster’s reasons for withdrawing from next year’s event are the changes in the voting system of the contest: introduction of 50/50 jury and televoting deliberation, and the Big 5 rule, enabling Spain, Italy, UK, France and Germany to automatically qualify every year for the final. The broadcaster expresses its discontent regarding these rules and feels they are not fair. Esctoday. |

Turkey will be out for 3 years at least. But they will be back or something... and they're mostly hating on the Big 5. Apparently their fee is €300 000 and Spain's fee is just 50 000 above that and they're part of the Big 5 while Turkey's not. What are they waiting for? Such a small amount of countries that the Big 5 won't even be needed? I feel sorry for you Esref.. |

Who cares about Slovenia when Turkey's out, I'd rather Turkey! 3 years at least, WHAT? Omg :( Why can't the EBU reduce their fee, not fair they have to pay the same as crappy Spain |
