But Petra "job" actually is being a tv host, whereas SDF actually is a singer. I dont think she needs to be a commedian (those jokes are always the most annoying part of the whole ESC) If she just does her job well as host I would be really happy with her. |

"Christer Björkman and Martin Österdahl have talked with media how SVT will make Eurovision 2013 a success. SVT's budget is 15,2 million euros, a lot less than in the previous years - Helsinki used some 18 million, Moscow nearly 35 million and Baku we won't even try to count! SVT also downscale the technical side of the show and focus on artists and creating an intimate atmosphere. "We will make all that the artists will come across well on screen and make people want to vote for them" he tells. "Also, the list of countries that could not host the show if they won is getting longer every year. We must come down with the costs and set a new trend. We must get back to basics and what this is allabout in the first place, and having one presenter is a key factor in all this. We chose Petra Mede because she is perfect for the job: she can be funny but she can be serious as well. She can easily switch from one mood to another. She's got experience and can host a long live broadcast." Björkman also tells the work started the night Loreen won and it's been very busy, sometimes stressful but always fun." |

A rules change http://www.esctoday.com/48047/eurovision-r...-all-the-songs/ I'm just wondering why they weren't doing that to begin with? Even a dumb blonde like me can see this is more statistically correct for a tally. |

I'm not happy about anything that gives juries more power. How easy is it now for a bunch of them to all club together to give the favourite 0, so no matter if they have 12 in the televoting they get 0 from them all. |

It doesn't give them more power , DO the math it equalizes it. It works both ways . A televote can now cancel out a jury vote. So the bigger the difference is between the jury and televote ranking, this will give usually a lower combined average ranking. If the countries are ranked similarly by both the juries and the televoters, also the average ranking will reflect this. So that applies to juries wanking on a song the televoters don't like. it lowers the jury score :P the result is that the juries have to agree with a televote in order for a song to do reasonably well and so we get a winner that has support from both juries and televoters . Also it exposes corrupt jury practices by forcing a jury to display their full rankings . they can no longer say...oh it didn't make our top 10. that's why it got no points. This is way better and probably the least corrupt system of voting I've seen. |

It helps middle of the road songs no one likes like Azerbaijan 2011..... And it doesn't change anything for televoting but now juries can easily club together and decide to give fan favourites (or say Armenia from Azerbaijan's club) 26th in the ranking (giving them nil from several countries). |

yes the televote does the full ranking too so it evens out. Jury televote Song A 1 4 =5 Song B 2 3 =5 Song C 3 2 =5 Song D 4 1 =5 and no it doesn't help mediocrity. as the above example shows. a song has to get support from both to win. so not only does this system expose corruptness but also prevents diaspora and bloc voting from completely controlling the televote. the other esc corruption that you seem to ignore in your support of that oh so precious televote. |
