Heard Cesaria Evora last week. Great music, would be better if we had the temperature for it right now

Today it is: Jace or Jive :: Kagura Live in Kyoto [JP] A heavenly voices CD I picked up a month ago in San Jose. Heavenly voices is often called "ethereal" music here in the US, and is an ambient / atmospheric blend of soft vocals and either traditional instruments and/or subtle electronics. |

I have to admit that I'm currently in a techno-phase. Currently: "Satisfaction" - Benny Benassi I actually wanted to listen to the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack, but it gets me all sad and melancholic and stuff <_< |

Ah, but music is an emotional experience ... and sadness can be a good emotion too. Sometimes I like sad music, especially when I'm angry ... it does calm me down.

I do agree with you; sometimes I do need sad/melancholic music, either to assist me in coping with an emotionally bad day, or to get me out of an angry phase. Of course, sometimes I specifically push my anger when I'm in the mood for a little plotting and brooding, which I find quite relieving on occasion. But right now I wanna be a happy, happy person ![]() Therefore: "Kaltes Klares Wasser" - Chicks on Speed Okay, not techno, but more electropop or something like it, but it does count. |

Klares? I don't know that word? Does that title translate to "Cold Clear Waters"??? (My German Dictionary is at home ... and though I could babblefish it I'd rather play a game where you feed me hints til I figure it out.)

Well, you almost got it right. It's simply "Cold Clear Water", as "klares" is derived from "klar" (=clear) and this is the nominative neuter singular form it takes when standing without a definite article. Compare: kaltes klares Wasser - das kalte klare Wasser See, you didn't need hints ![]() Okay, looking at my current playlist, try understanding these songs: Perfekte Welle (for starters) Symphonie (still doable) Nur Ein Wort (fu..reaking hard, meguesses) *German music pimping* |

der / die / das ... are those called definitive articles? You'll love this ... when German bands use one of those in their name, often in the US they are filed under "D". So that song would become: -D- "das kalte klare Wasser" if it included the article Though an English band like the Cure would would under -C-. Crazy! |

According to babelfish (cheating, and only right 50% of the time), that means "Only one word". As for the music filing, French music ends up getting filed the same way: anything starting with "le, la, les" (The definitive articles) are filed under "L". Ce n'est que les maudits anglais qui ne prennent pas le temps de comprendre les langues des autres. Mais sur l'autre côté, je suis moi-même un de ces maudits anglais, donc pourquoi je dis ce genre des choses? |

Cool, I understood a lot of that without using Freetranslation Now here is my probably horrific French, which I even cheated some on (Which, in a way, proves your point :P): Et je suis d'accord, nous sommes trop paresseux de soigner apprendre des langues autres. Comme ceci, ce n'est pas la bonne français. C'est regrettable. My mp3 player counts "the" as a T, so maybe everything does that. EDIT: This is turning into a language discussion...so I'm listening to...actually nothing right now

The "T" depends on the software... some count it, some don't. As for actually listening to something, can't say I am either. Although I do have "Apparitions" by Matthew Good Band running through my head.... which is where my title comes from... |
