1. Spelling AND grammar is everything!

When RPing, or basically posting anywhere in the house. Don't post as if you were on some instant messaging chat. Something like this is not only hard to read, but is just not needed. "mark walked out to da grounds n wlked up 2 a grl" Trying to figure what that is, is like translating a whole other language. This is how that sentence should look like. "Mark walked out to the grounds, and walked up to a girl." You see how much easier that is to read?

2. * Are for losers. “Are for winners.

When including actions or conversation, some people like to use asterisks (**) for either conversation or actions. Not only does that make your post look messy, but there is an easier way. When having actions, simply just type up the action. (The boy walked over towards the girl, and sat down next to her.) That’s it, simple as that. Now with conversation, include quotation marks ("") instead of asterisks or nothing at all. (The boy walked over towards the girl, and sat down next to her. "Hello there, my name is Bob.")

3. Actions should be in third person.

Third person is the most known form of RPing. If I were to shout at a student, I would do this. "I look straight in the eyes of the student, and begin to yell." Although, there really isn't bad to do that, it just doesn't look and read as well. The proper way to do this would be, "Albus looked straight in the eyes of student and began to yell at him".

4. Abbreviating un-necessary words.

In character, words like "g2g", "lol", or "btw" is not something for role-playing, but something if you were on AIM or whatever. If were chose to tell the person you are leaving or something, simply say" I am leaving", or in third person it would be "Bob stood up and told his friend that he had to go."

5. Need help? Got questions? ASK!

If you are new to RPing, and you might have a few questions or not exactly sure on how to do something, don't feel free to ask. Most of the time asking will help you understand the concept more, and will make you more confident when RPing.

6. Controlling other characters.

You are not allowed to post actions of another member. Such as if I was RPing as Bob, and Jane was also there, I would only control Bob's actions. I wouldn't say the following, "Bob walked towards the tree. Jane then followed him and sat down". Being that Jane never said that, you are not supposed to create your own actions for someone else, only yourself.

7. Knowing what you’re posting.

Sometimes people don't read the entire post before making their own post, and most of the time end up making the RP even more confusing. When reading the whole post, you know how the RP is either starting out, or is continuing. Also, don't just jump into the thread when you’re not supposed to, and know who is there in the room.

8. Is there a point to my post?

If all you have to say in your post is a simple hello, why bother post that? Be creative; think of other things to include in your post. Perhaps describe your thoughts, maybe things around you. Don't just simple post hello, I'm Bob, what is the point in doing that?
