Guild Nirvana is aligned with the Luxons. Our goal is to be a place where having fun in game is the paramount concern.

We want to pursue all aspects of the game. Be it GvG/PvP/HoH/AB or PvE that you are interested in, our aim is to provide a community where like minded individuals can fully enjoy the aspects of Guild Wars that interest them most.

Guild Nirvana uses this forum to organise regular in-game activities and to allow members to plan their game-time so that they don’t miss out on the activities that they’d enjoy most. For this to work, all guildies need to be willing to actively participate in the forums.

The guild maintains a mature, friendly atmosphere and has some ground rules which all guildies need to be in agreement with. It is run on a democratic basis with decisions taken by the guild member

We hope that this gives you a flavour of our guild. If you are interested in finding out more, please register on our forum and visit the Join Guild Nirvana sub-forum which has more details about our aims, the application process and is the place to post any questions that you have, or an application to join!

Thanks for reading this and have fun! :D

Haxor

Hello everyone,

Our guild, [ASH], is looking for a new alliance. We’re an adult-oriented guild that is highly laidback. The average age is around mid-twenties, although we have a few younger people (down to, say, 15-16) and a few older ones (50+). We are currently Luxon, but are willing to consider a switch to Kurzick if we feel it is in our best interest.

We operate with a unique ‘formula’ of self-governance. This means that in ASH, we do not have a leader. Our Guild Leader is a storage account which several people have access to, for administration reasons only. All members, from the point that they join until the point that they leave, are officers. Common sense is the rule in our guild. This means having respect for everyone in our guild, not begging and not overdoing the profanity or ‘leetspeak’. This helps us keep a calm, relaxed environment. If any element disturbs this environment, despite our self-governance, swift action will be taken on behalf of the guild.

Our guild consists of a core of experienced, mature players. Most of us have been playing this game for several years, and thus know most (if not all) sections of the game. Operating on a semi-communistic base, we do not trade in our guild. Instead, we often freely give help, materials or money when and if they are needed. This goes hand in hand with the self governance we practice.

We are currently at 81 accounts in our guild, which would probably boil down to 65-70 people – most of whom have logged on in the past week. We however do not operate any activity requirements for now, though this may come later if we face trouble facilitating possible new recruits. (Though it is more likely second and third accounts will be removed at first). However, due to our self-governing policy, we are reasonably selective about our recruitment.

These simple values were either not found, or died out in our previous alliances. This is why we decided to make this post – so we can make it clear what we are, and what we would like from our alliance.

What are we looking for in an alliance?
We expect a high level of maturity from our alliance, no “lol he sed kurdick” or “omg lmao suxons”. In the same manner, we expect respect from and for everyone. If there are discussions (be they about current events or which build is best), we expect both parties to be open to advice, criticism and to have the ability to agree to disagree.

In a similar token, we would prefer the alliance to be mainly adult-oriented as well. We are used to saying what we want (non-hurtful, obviously), when we want. Our sense of humor at times can be crude, and between friends it’s not uncommon to throw some insults. This is however all in jest - an alliance that understands this kind of humor is pretty much required.

Also, whilst we do not mind helping new players learn about, and enjoy the game – we would like to be able to play on a similar turf with other people. This means doing vanquishes, dungeons, HM and so-on. Most of our guild is PvE, so PvP activity is not really needed. (It would however be appreciated by our few PvP playing members.) One of the most important things is the willingness to not only receive help, but to give help when needed as well. Activity on Ventrilo (which our guild uses) is a plus.

Finally, the core of our guild stems from a certain large PvE guild, which had highly strict rules and requirements. We do not want this. Weekly/monthly meetings, reports, these are all things that simply will not happen from our side, and we’re not interested in any alliance requiring them.

If after reading that you find yourself thinking "That doesn't sound specifically focused on our alliance.", that's actually because I copied it from our Guildwars Guru advertisement. It seemed to fit the bill for an introduction quite nicely, and why waste a perfectly fine piece of writing, eh?

To cut to your specific questions:

1. your guild's own goals and approach to game play
We strive for fun, to put it as simple as possible. We do this by providing people a much needed relief from the hardships of real life. We do not have drama, racism or any kind of offensive behavior - nor do we tolerate it in the least. Our guild is a tight-knit group of friends who can and will do anything together, if someone needs it and asks for help.

2. the current number of members and of officers (allied guilds should be at least fifteen in size)
Currently, the size of our guild is 81 accounts. This would likely boil down to between 65 and 70 members, roughly 55 of which have an idle timer on 1 week or less.

3. how many in your guild were online during the past week and which timezone is best for you
As previously stated, around 55 people have been online in the past week. Our guild has a core that is both European and American, and I believe we even have an Aussie or two. Our activity usually starts picking up around 18:00 GMT.

4. your recruiting policies and GW servers (we use the Euro servers)
We have no real recruitment policy. However, we only recruit an individual after one of our people comes to the point they would "vouch" for his or her suitability for the guild. If the person is not a fit, they will not be invited. This means we do not grow fast, but it also means people rarely leave. We mainly play on American servers, though we often switch to International or Europe in big events.

5. what aspect of GW you play most, (are you an all-round guild, or do you specialise in a particular field, such as GvG)
We play through every part of PvE, with some of our members individually pursuing things such as HA, or RA/TA. We can often be found doing dungeons, running dungeons, or leeching off of our private dungeon-running biatches.

We also do UW, FoW, The Deep etcetera when our members call for it, and we have enough people online. It mainly depends on what people want. Which is usually a form of high-end PvE.

6. how do you usually plan events for your members to participate in
We rarely plan "events". Most of our things are rather spur-of-the-moment. The only things we plan in advance are birthday parties for our members (presuming we know of them), or the more complicated runs (such as The Deep, with it's 12 man requirement.)

7. your use of ventrilo or teamspeak
We use a private Ventrilo server, though it is usually only used when someone else is online and we're doing something together - which is pretty much every night. There are obviously exceptions, though.

8. whether you have an active forum and how you feel about using the alliance forums here on a regular basis
This may be a problem for us. History has shown that specific guild forums don't get used that often, though they can obviously be useful at times. I personally would check it fairly regularly, but I can’t guarantee this from the rest of the guild.

9. anything special you are looking for in an alliance
Well, this was basically already mentioned before.

I have already had the pleasure of briefly speaking to one of your council members - Miko Angelica. I briefly touched on a subject that I would like to re-address in this post - the ability to have a Q&A session (possibly during the inter-guild meeting) with your council. As I mentioned earlier, we come from a large PvE alliance which was quite strict upon the guild itself, and we are not interested in this.

I hope to hear from you all soon.

On behalf of [ASH],

Robert / Haxor

Guild Nirvana Alliance Councillor
Greetings Robert / Haxor,

Thanks for your nice application and most welcome to the forum.

We'd like to arrange a time to chat with you and any of your guild who are considering being alliance councillors (see the threads pinned at the top of this forum) and some of your guild members also.

Perhaps you can post a few in-game names and a time that would suit you all to meet with us (the AN guilds) in GN GH?

I look forward to meet you and your guild members.

Thanks in advance.

OLM

Ps - Like Mysterious allready said being a part of our alliance is not a job, we all play gw for fun and relaxation.

Hello to both of you,

First off, thanks for actually reading our monster of a post. I could predict at least half a dozen alliances which would dismiss it with "Too long; didn't read" or "Long post is long", the fact I'm getting an actual response is a confirmation of our choice in itself.

A good time to set up a meeting would probably be tomorrow (Friday 23rd of January) anywhere between 20:00 and 00:00 GMT, preferably around 21:00-22:00 - at this point the US people will be signing on, and most Europeans will already be online.

As for giving names, that's a difficult one for right now. As I've stated in the previous post, we're a democratic guild, without any leaders. I'll be able to give you 4 or 5 council names tomorrow, but for now I would like to remain the point of contact myself, as I have been put forward several times. Even if I do not become one of the council members, I will likely still be the one working on the possible joining of your alliance.

In game name: Haxor Mastermind

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you, as well.

Thanks,

Robert

When you have read the post you will discover that its a Luxon guild so don't worry, your recently achieved status of being the guild with most Kurzick faction is not threatened ... for now :P

And before they get the wrong idea, no, we're not a faction farming alliance, that is for each guild to decide for themselves ;)

But I would like to welcome ASH to these forums anyway.

Nice application, I've read it on GW guru (Miko send me the link). Is not very long imo, as I see you had a lot of things to talk about (guild organisation and expectations from an alliance). I'll be at the meeting if is on Friday , still I think the time might be too short for some players .

Hello again,

As said, here are a few names for the probable council members:

John - Salome Rial
Diane - Siorai Banrion
Jen - Carn Angmar
Robert - Haxor Mastermind

The fifth council member isn't completely sure yet, but it will likely be Richard - Xxx Richard Xxx

As for people to invite to the meeting (if it can't take place tonight, perhaps sunday?) - please PM one of us and we'll give names of who are online and would like to join in on the introduction.

As previously said, however, we do still have a few questions we'd like to ask during the meeting.

Thanks,

Robert
