im getting sick of recoulering images and when i try make my own there rubbish. I want to make a good character from scratch that looks goo and is completely new character |

Having good sprites is hard... you need to start by making maybe outlines of the character, then add colours and details... use shades of different colours (thats important) and remember to know what you are drawing... maybe do a sketch by hand first... thats all I've got |

Yeah. What I would do is similar to Nebula. Create the outline. Color it in. You could maybe also color your character with a gradient. That usually looks nice. |

It also depends on your style. Pixel art is my speciality, and I'm not super-good at that... It just means coloring pixel-by-pixel using only a few colors and (usually) strong shades. |

I've never been good at making my own sprites, so I just stick to basic shapes and colors, which if used right, can look pretty good. But if do try to draw something more complicated, I usually start with the outline and add detail slowly. |

- I think that Adian is right, but if you stick to shapes 'all the time' it can become lame... I think starting with shapes.. then adding a bit of shadow and shading... then add more features until it doesn't look like a shape... works well |
