God Mod
I have found my game of the year 2008, and it's just a disappointment that I found it AFTER 08 was done. But this game is simply the best crafted game I've ever played. It allows you to create a character that can be a skinny white boy or a fat asian dude with a pink afro and an Australian accent and boobs big enough that he has to wear a bra. This game, my friends is saints row 2.

Have you ever thought to yourself that the world would be much better if you could throw old ladies into Jet engines? Well, if that thought has crossed your minds, then saints row is for you. The game takes everything that wrong with Grand Theft Auto 4 and makes it fun. Most people say that Saints Row is a clone of grand theft auto, but grand theft auto doesn't allow you to go sky diving in a thong and land on some unaware rival gang member. Saints row does. So, I am declaring Grand Theft Auto to be a Saints Row clone that simply falls short in it's attempt to imitate a game that didn't come out until years after the series conception.

It's almost as if the developers of Saints Row got together and thought to themselves "Games today are too realistic, lets make a game that's over the top and fun." And that is what happened. I don't normally like sandbox games, driving from mission to mission is usually boring for me. I don't normally find it fun to go on killing rampages and run from the cops. But Saints Row is completely different my friends.

The gang members are lovable and completely pyschotic, your second in command only wants to kill. There are absolutely no moral problems in this game. Your character kills because it's fun. Which is the same reason that YOU are playing this game. You don't want to think about how Niko hates killing people, but seems willing to drop down to his knees and kill anyone who comes his way if it means that he gets a few bucks. Niko is almost like a nympho who hates sex, but can't help herself anyway, and figures she might as well make some money. So SHE BECOMES A WHORE!

Screw that. Your unnamed character just wants his gang to become the best ****ing gang in the city. This game really is the equivelent of Snakes on a Plane in its over the top action. In one mission, I shit you not. You have to do a chase on golf carts through an airplane. If that doesn't sound crazy then get this. You have to earn respect to take on story missions. It may not make much sense for the leader of a gang that owns half the city to need to earn respect. But I dressed my guy up in a leather biker jacket, a cheerleader's miniskirt, a spartan (yes, spartan) helmet, and high heels. So maybe that's why he needed to prove how badass he is. Anyway you have to earn respect by doing side missions/minigames. One involves impersonating a police officer and settling disputes. An old lady was slowing down traffic, so you are told to stop her. With a chainsaw. Not enough for you? I was told to break up the battle of the century. I get there. And the streets were covered with ****ING PIRATES AND NINJAS FIGHTING EACH OTHER! I had to stop it with a "police standard issue" flamethrower. If impersonating police officers isn't a thing you want to do. You can always take a mission where you devalue property by covering it in solid waste, commit insurance fraud, or do one of the many other side games.

The controls themselves are amazing, in the middle of combat you can grab an enemy and throw him 20 feet into his pals. The game happens to be a little easy, but when you have a recharging health meter. .. . it doesn't matter. THe fact is this game is fun. You feel actually emotional connections with the characters, each character is different. And if none of this convinces you, you can kill people with a samurai sword and your character will sing along with some of the songs on the radio. One of these is A-HA's Take On Me.

Saints row is the game that gamers want, it gives you tons of freedom and completely lovable characters while knowing that through all this, it is still a game, and needs to be fun to play. Fun to experience, and always feel something like an 80's Action Film.
