We last left off where Seth decided to go to Valor on his black dragon Erath. And when he got there...And if anyone forgot the story, Kyan found his long lost friend Seth on Valor, and his black dragon Erath. Kyan is a mamkute that can still use swords as well as dragon stone attack.

it's 8 minutes long. 4 verses of absolute hatred about murder.

Tell me you wouldn't watch that tv show or see a movie about something he describes in that song.

You all can think how you want. but it's a fact. rappers write better stories. three verses, 16 bars each. compared to most singer/songwriters who do 2 verses (maybe 3) at 4-8 bars each at best.

It's not even a comparison.

If you need some ideas of who to listen to say who you like and I'll find you artists you like.
I like K-pop, Dad-rock, and 80's Rock.

What rap will I like.
Okay, think of what little patience I have as, oh, I don't know, your virginity. You always thought it would be there, until that night Junior Year when you were feeling a little down about yourself and your pal Kevin, who just wanted to be friends, well, he dropped by and he brought a copy of About Last Night and a four-pack of Bartels & James and woo hoo hoo, it was gone forever - just like my patience is now. ~ Dr. Perry Cox

Who the hell... put bouillon cubes in the shower head!?! Huh? Hm, did you do it? Hm? Did you? If it happens again, I will wait in my S.U.V., blast me some speed-metal -- 5.1 surround sound, heavy on the bass -- and someone... will be getting... mowed... down. ~ Dr. Hooch

Lyrically, rappers are better storytellers than any other form of musician. sometimes it helps to read along with the song to see everything at first.

please show me a rap song that's a better storytelling than this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXq5VvYAI1Q&feature=related

and this for good measure

I'd also link you to some songs by classic Swedish bards but you wouldn't understand the text anyway.

i dont know about you guys, but i dont go out of my way to listen to music that "tells a story" because there are a shit ton of other mediums that can do that in a better way

and if i did venture into storytelling music, im pretty sure rap would be the last place id look

I have been working deliveries a lot lately, so I've delved deeper into rap and hip hop and stuff thanks to the radio

Before, I didn't really care for rap (Did tolerate Eminem more than most though) and I still don't, but I do enjoy the silly stuff in small doses like Five O'Clock and Down on Me

But I still don't understand the appeal of some other hugely popular songs, like, say... pancakes in Paris.

No. Why would they? Who would care? "Sorry sir, but you're eating grapes. You're buying $100 worth of food, but these grapes, they're very important. I'm paid minimum wage but you simply have to stop eating those so you can pay the right price for them. Because it is my civic duty to stop grape-eaters everywhere."

No one would do a thing, in fact I usually eat something while shopping. Sometimes it's a bag of potato chips or something, which sometimes I also don't pay for. SOMETIMES GOOD-BYE IS A SECOND CHANCE

Aside from the Space Jam one making me grin a little from nostalgia, rap just doesn't... make me feel anything. Corny, but that's really my problem with it. There's songs in my library that can affect my mood as much as any drug I've used. Rap? If it hits me just right, I might be compelled to bob my head a little (though the strongest reactions it gets out of me are irritation). That's just not enough for me.

The best rap songs are just for the masses. pancakes in paris is just to make money.

Try Graduation for Kanye or anything before 2001 by Jay Z for those two specific guys

To not calling rap a story. Go, listen to Stan. Come back to me when you find anyone that doesn't thing it's one of the saddest but most realistic stories ever told.

The fact it samples Dido AND the grammy version has elton john just makes it even more epic.

If you don't like rap, that's fine. but you don't need to disagree with the fact that as lyricists they are better than normal musicians (because lyrics is all that a large majority of them do, sans the really good ones like kanye, dre, or eminem who do their own soundtracks most often)

I have to admit I don't personally find the majority of rap I've heard to be enjoyable to listen to. Actually it's kind of aggravating/annoying in many ways.
