I'd like to start off by saying that I realized that harem anime is inherently flawed due to its heavy reliance on contrived circumstances, ridiculous reactions, and general lack of closure. I consider it a bit of a guilty pleasure, because while there usually isn't much of a plot, I do enjoy the character development and interactions...at least, the ones that actually bother with this. That said, I have mixed feelings about Infinite Stratos. As a harem show, I think it did a good job of straying past the bounds of just wacky harem comedy, though I would've liked a little more focus on the suits plot-wise instead of what seems to be a fairly disjointed string of events. Some of the characters were pretty interesting, too; Charlotte was surprisingly genre savvy, to the point where she could push the buttons of everyone else in the harem without even trying, and Laura is probably the only badass eye patch-wearing warrior that could ever be considered cute (in personality, specifically). Still, I feel like it could've been better. The fact that it was only twelve episodes and there are five (key) members of the harem means that nearly half of the series is spent on introduction episodes. The final "arc," if you can call it that, lasts three episodes and just doesn't feel that satisfying. We don't see Ichika's upgrade transformation, it doesn't really seem to follow too well from the episodes leading up to it, and overall it feels like a "Monster of the Week" type of thing, but for the finale. Also, despite the MASSIVE amount of Ichika/Charlotte subtext put into the show, he ends up either making the most typical goddamn choice possible or he leaves it open to more harem adventures, depending on how you interpret the ending. I read somewhere that the author originally intended for it to be Ichika/Charlotte but there was some meddling amongst the higher-ups to keep it a harem for longer or something like that, which is a little reassuring. To clarify, I'm not whining because LOL OTP GAIZ, but rather because this time it seemed reasonable for the protagonist to end up with a sweet, mentally stable girl whom he hadn't known prior to the series, something that would've (sadly) been a bit of a big deal in this genre. Meh, I'm done ranting. Has anyone else watched this? |

i'd like harem anime more if the lead actually had a harem instead of "LOL HE MUST CHOSE BETWEEN SEVERAL GIRLS" like school days except consensual and with less murdering |

Frankly, I would like either of those better than the "standard" as it is. Either the girls come to an agreement and play a gentler tug-of-war with the guy, or someone goes apeshit and things get bad fast. |

R+V took forever to get there, but the protagonist is fairly likable and the last few chapters have decidedly shifted away from "First girl wins" and seem to be heading toward a multi-girl ending. That's about it, though...it seems harem leads are intentionally as bland as possible to make them the most relatable, which doesn't even make sense. |

When I saw Stratos in the title, I was hoping this would be about the character Stratos from He-Man. |
