Kiwi's looking for suggestions as to what he should get. Money's not too much of an issue (Kiwi's willing to spend as much as $2,000 though he'd rather not spend more then $1500). Kiwi's not sure how much he'll be moving around and what not so he'd rather not get a desktop and building one won't really be a viable option.

I really like my MacBook Pro, but a lot of people hate on them because they're sexpensive and not much different from Windows. But I never have to worry about mainstream viruses (at least, not yet) and the interface has grown on me. May want to think about one.
Blasted science, you have played me for a fool!

No, Kiwi's going to be playing games and such on it, and he'd rather not muck around with boot camp. Kiwi's not stupid enough to get infected by viruses so that isn't a worry, and he doesn't want to spend twice as much as he would for half the performance. Kiwi may not have to worry too much about money, but he doesn't want to squander it.

You don't play many newer games(I think?), so I'd recommend you the one I'm currently using for college if it was still in production (L4D/2 run wonderfully, even on higher settings, but TF2 isn't that great for some reason) just due being really cheap, like $600 9 months ago. A quick look on Newegg brings this, which seems okay, albeit a bit bulky.

Should run all the games you and I play together with no problem.

Actually, Jeff would be good at this.

This is what I'm currently using. It can do pretty much anything game-related.

Okay, think of what little patience I have as, oh, I don't know, your virginity. You always thought it would be there, until that night Junior Year when you were feeling a little down about yourself and your pal Kevin, who just wanted to be friends, well, he dropped by and he brought a copy of About Last Night and a four-pack of Bartels & James and woo hoo hoo, it was gone forever - just like my patience is now. ~ Dr. Perry Cox

Who the hell... put bouillon cubes in the shower head!?! Huh? Hm, did you do it? Hm? Did you? If it happens again, I will wait in my S.U.V., blast me some speed-metal -- 5.1 surround sound, heavy on the bass -- and someone... will be getting... mowed... down. ~ Dr. Hooch

The single best lineup currently out, for a ridiculously low price considering, is Toshiba Qosmio X500.

For 1500: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114797&Tpk=X505-Q870

For 1730: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114804&Tpk=X505-Q875

The price for the latter is in fact worth it, IMO, due to the graphics and RAM upgrade (and 1066 RAM is still fairly expensive). Note that these may be heavy, but they will play anything you want on max settings for the next four years.

That 1730 one looks like it'd be exactly what Kiwi wants in a laptop.

9.70lbs? Eh, Kiwi will be carrying worse before he even gets the laptop

Kiwi thinks he'll look around a little more, but he'll keep that in mind (Though Kiwi won't be able to buy it till the sale is over, unfortunately)

Ouch, that's rough.

But yeah, mine is 10 pounds and probably half of the ability of that one, not to mention those have an XBOX HUEG screen.

Still, it falls under what he is willing to pay so he's gonna go for it when he gets paid.

Careful with the X-Box HUEG screens, most backpacks are not big enough to carry them, meaning you'll have to get a special one.

This is pretty great, IMO. I have a widescreen 16" laptop and it fits in the laptop compartment, along with pretty much everything else I ever need in life. Not much room afterwards in the laptop spot of the bag, though.
