The voice acting complaint is ridiculous and has a very simple solution: ALLOW US TO USE THE JAPANESE VOICES
god, i hate games that don't let you do that
In general, the list is just "you jap games suck, hah oblivion and fallout 3 are the greatest games ever"
And why can't there be good non-japanese voice acting? The "use Japanese voices" doesn't solve the complaint because people like to hear it in their language. (the article did say Japanese voices was a welcome option as well) It does have some valid complaints (such as the filler), and some pretty stupid ones. The responses from that Japanese board were just plain stupid. It was a very bad article over all.
Good non-Japanese voice acting is fine and all, but you have to remember that the specific voice-acting industry is extremely small in the US (while on the contrary it is quite large in Japan), and hollywood actors are not neccesarily good voice actors, and besides that, hiring them costs a lot. It's unreasonable to demand particularily high quality American voice acting if we're not talking about a game with very high production values. And what's wrong with voice actors from cartoons and such? Not to mention that your explanation doesn't excuse that there are US games with good voice acting. Nothing necessarily, but cartoon voice acting may not fit all types of games.

Nothing necessarily, but cartoon voice acting may not fit all types of games. Of course not, but to say there is no good voice actors in the US for video games is not a true statement.

This comment made me laugh: "Japanese RPGs are created for the express purpose of letting one experience the blooming of their full powers from a total zero starting point. They're necessary for keeping public order in Japan."
Same here: "Americans can't understand complexity so a lot of the best stuff doesn't get translated. Like Megami Tensei"

The opinions expressed in the above post are totally and completely correct. If you disagree with them, you are wrong, there's just no other way to put it.
I've seen knights in armor panic at the first hint of battle. And I've seen the lowliest, unarmed squire pull a spear from his own body, to defend a dying horse. Nobility is not a birthright. It's defined by one's actions. -Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
