This game is fucking awesome. It's a grand strategy game in which you start at any point between 1399 and 1800-something (Provided you have both expansions - Not worth it without them anyway), pick a country from that period, and then do whatever you want. You can conquer the world, create an empire, become a great trader, explore the new world, there are plenty of possibilities. Unlike the Total War games, it's not flashy at all (Battles are represented by two soldiers walking towards each other on the map) and the game is focused much more on diplomacy, keeping your realm stable, and such. Actually, a lot of the time is spent trying to manifacture a way to get a cassius belli (just cause) to declare a war upon a country. tl;dr: If you like spending hours upon hours creating a grand empire, play this. |

Actually it's casus belli, and it means cause for war. It doesn't have to be, and usually isn't, just. And it just sounds like Civilization. Are the battles something beyond simple probability that usually favors the AI? |

I expected someone to correct me on that. Anyway, the battle system is kind of broken >_> Basically, you have a number of regiments, let's say, 10, with a max of 1000 soldiers in each. You can appoint a general if you wish. The battles roll a dice and apply general bonuses and troop stats. Then there are five days of ranged combat, five days of melee combat, etc, which repeats up until the "morale" of a side drops to 0. After that, it retreats. If you have a 10x larger army, you win immideatly and the other side just dies. If you have a 2x larger army and win within the first 5 days, all enemies also die. There's also attrition, which kills off your army as you travel (Explained by diseases and such). This usually means that you'll be chasing your enemy for a bit while most of your soldiers die despite having a significantly larger army. Your army replenishes naturally, though. |

I now rule the EMPIRE OF SWEDEN. In a matter of months, when Själland is one of core provinces, it will be the EMPIRE OF SCANDINAVIA |
