I just can't justify buying FFIV for DS.

I already have FFIV on GBA, and I think the graphics just look horrible.

Did anyone here get it?

The highlight of this one is the challenge. From what I hear, it's very, very hard.

I'm not sure how it's difficulty measures up against FF1&2 Dawn of Souls' extra mode for FF2.

Challenge like the "challenge" in FF4 when you first get to the moon?

If it's actual difficulty though, I might get it.

The game has gotten low scores just because the game is so damn challenging, according to some reviews.

So they are going for the "frustration = challenge" thing?

Challenges are supposed to be frustrating.

Why are challenges necessarily frustrating? What about something being hard, yet fun, and then there being a thing that is overwhelmingly hard and no fun?

SRW3, for example, is frustrating because it's challenging due to broken gameplay mechanics.

A game like SGnG however, is sort of never harder than the player is bad, which gives it an extra dimension.

So what is it that makes the game harder than the original or GBA FFIV?

I read a review on Gamespot, and it was saying there are basically specific strategies you have to use for some parts of the game that may take you some time to figure out, rather than muscling your way through.

Challenges are frustrating at first, until you get good at them. gringe, for example. IIRC, didn't he complete one of the Contra games on the hardest difficulty with the least amount of lives, or something like that?

I've beaten Contra 4 on hard mode with a surplus of over 13 lives on several occasions (you start with 3), and have cleared all of the challenges. >_>

You know, I realized something. Probably my favorite turn-based RPG ever, Lunar 2, has a lot of battles where you need to use specific strategies to win (lol, Zophar), and that's part of why I liked it so much. So that could bode well for this game.
