Video conversion is a bitch; unless you want to pay 30 bucks, you'll have to find a crack or keygen for something to convert media files into mp4 or wmv. And even then, if your computer doesn't kick ass, it takes longer to rip a movie from a DVD and convert it than it does to watch it.

Actually, I'm thinking about selling my Zune. It's 30 gigs of pure trouble. Randomly crashes, sometimes refuses to turn on unless I fiddle with the button lock, and if you move a media file to where the Zune software doesn't automatically find it, it wipes it off your Zune.

Although, the wireless sharing thing is nice... Just for the hell of it, I'll randomly change my Zune name and message people some seriously odd images... or GHEB(

I dont have problems with ripping the dvds and movies to my compy as its pretty fast, my problem is moving my ripped movies to the zune program so that I can put it on my zune. And most of the movies I want to import onto it are MPEG4 or WMV

I've turned mine into a portable hard drive.

As for videos... honestly, who watches videos on something like a Zune or iPod? It's kinda silly. The screen is tiny, and they don't really have the batteries for it.
btw you're all banned

A 3" screen is plenty big enough for videos, it's just that if you don't convert the video right it gets grainy.

As for batteries, the video mode kills it after about 5 hours, but it's good for watching stuff like short shows or Youtube vids.

Zunes kickass. I was really against buying a product sold by Microsoft on grounds I try to not buy things from companies that expand into too many markets. Stick to the stuff immediately related to what you started with, and that's it, IMO. Spreading resources too thin never really creates better products through competition, it just forces companies to make lower quality products from reduced sales, and spend more on marketing.

However, buying something from Microsoft is infinitely better than something by Apple, because Apple is a worthless company that needs to hurry up and die before it pollutes the world with more half-assed products that they somehow manage to market well enough to turn every other person into a hardcore tool.

I bought a Zune because it had all the features I wanted and more, and looked good. The touch pad thing is wonderful, and I haven't had a single problem yet with the device. However, I can't actually put any of my library on it, because Microsoft won't write a zune client for the x64 platform.

That's right, Microsoft won't support a Microsoft product on a Microsoft operating system. Not even after several years and an increasing amount of people on 64-bit Microsoft OSes. ._.;

I found the process for getting videos on there was too annoying, but that's coming from someone with no patience.

Well, on one hand, there's programs that let you load items onto the Zune like a hard drive, and another that lets you use WMP/WinAmp/iTunes/etc. On the other hand, you need to use the Zune software first to get them to work.
