Fen: Your description of the population of Phoenix does not agree with "without damage".

Such things aside, of course you're not going to just up and die from it. Doesn't change that being outside is far more damaging there than, for instance, here in the summer.

49 C only means you die slightly slower, from dehydration. Not suitable for human life.

It also causes proteins and such things to, well, coagulate, in lack of a better word. Gives you burn injuries.

Protein denaturation isn't the issue at the point. We have heat regulation mechanisms - specifically sweating. Proteins won't denature until you're beyond the capacity to remove heat - that is, dehydrated.

Well, maybe at nearly 50 C, things would happen a bit differently, but proteins likely wouldn't immediately denature in a regulated environment such as a human. Those are very extreme conditions that humans can not tolerate for very long (yes, I do realize that people in deserts regularly endure such conditions, but they're not stupid enough to spend all their time outdoors).
btw you're all banned

Well, yeah, that's true. I was rather thinking of say, holding a warm metal plate of 45°C towards your skin for a few hours.

yeah, once the body runs out of liquid to use as sweat the core temperature will rise. Once the temperature of the brain reaches 106.0 F the brain will revert to its original state (which is to say in about a minute and a half at 106 your brain will return to its natural proteins and amino acids.)

So like I said, nothing will happen until you're dehydrated.
