It is really really difficult for me to sleep well. I have been on edge, and there are grey circles around my eyes. I do not want to have others think something is up. However, whenever I try to sleep, I only sleep for a couple hours(4 at most, even when I am drained beforehand). Can anyone give me suggestions on how to have a long, continuous sleep? No silly comments, I am rather desperate.

Buy an Air Supply CD and play it. You'll easily fall asleep and stay asleep. |

Are your sheets clean? A lot of times people get so tired of their smell they can't sleep. When has your mattress been flipped? You should do that every few months. If you have clean sheets and a flipped mattress, then you have some real issues. But really, it works. Try flipping your mattress. After so many nights of sleeping on it, it gets kinda warped. I remember having to flip mine last night because it was so canoed I couldn't set a glass of water on it without it tipping immediately. >>;;; |

Don't do anything too stimulating before bed, like tv, video games, movies etc. Also reading a book can help. |

Hm... I'm kind of a veteran in the area >_> First, sleepins pills suck. What help is it to sleep if you're as drowsy when you wake up as if you hadn't slept? Secondly, the only real way that worked for me is staying up all night and day, and then go to bed early. Not a long-term solution, but it works. My psychatrist, however, prescribed a new medicine to me, Melatonin, which isn't an actual sleeping pill, but rather makes you tired for 45 or so minutes, giving you a window to sleep with. They worked great, but I couldn't handle them psychologically, for some silly reason >_> Probably no help at all, but that's my two cents. |

I'm afraid I can't help you much, but I do have a friend who used to be a really bad insomniac and has read a lot of stuff about it. I'll see what she has to say. |

The opinions expressed in the above post are totally and completely correct. If you disagree with them, you are wrong, there's just no other way to put it. I've seen knights in armor panic at the first hint of battle. And I've seen the lowliest, unarmed squire pull a spear from his own body, to defend a dying horse. Nobility is not a birthright. kk, here's some things she told me. 1) Don't just sit there and lay in bed if you can't sleep, get up and go some place else and lay down. Apparently, after a while your mind becomes more or less trained to the idea that bed=sleep as long as you do this. 2) Avoid watching TV, working out, eating video games and such just before hand. 3) Try to plan your sleep in increments of 1 1/2 hours (1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2, etc.) to get the most out of it and wake up alert. 4) Establish a semi-regular bed time She said those are the four real important ones to follow. |
