Oh, and the USA should really get over that nigh-religious worship of its constitution.

It's not so much the constitution itself, but rather the bill of rights, I think. I mean, it's been amended before, so... >>

No matter the weapon, a psycho will still kill many.

A psycho with less range is not capable of killing as many.

Or are you trying to say that reducing the amount of deaths isn't worth it as long as somebody still gets killed?

While less victims is better, saying "ban guns so potentially less people are murdered on a single attack" is not a good enough reason to revise/make laws.

Oh, and the USA should really get over that nigh-religious worship of its constitution.

Well, most European countries thought it was a pretty good idea. Also, I apologize on behalf of the entire United States for valuing our rights.

Wait, no I don't. That would be moronic.

See, it's like this: In countries with stricter gun control laws, people get shot less. There are less crimes involving guns. Etc.
What does this mean? It means that claiming that stricter laws only hurt self-defense and not the offensive use of guns is just bullshit.

Cause.

Effect.

You have not adequately connected them.

Jim: But there are less violent crimes in countries where weapons aren't readily available.

That isn't really factual, if I may say.

The Constitution has kept the U.S. from succumbing to tyranny, unlike certain European countries.

Doing whatever you feel like and disregarding the basic governmental system of an entire country is pretty moronic too.

The Constitution needs to be regularly revised so that it applies to the cuurent times, ethics and situations.
Following 200 year old rules and refusing changes is a problem.

Of course we need a constitution, but if it's unbendable and unchanging, there is no difference than a monarchy.

The Constitution is revised somewhat regularly to adapt to new ethics - it's called the amendment process. It's been done to give blacks and women legal protection that they didn't have 200 years ago, for instance.

Of course.

But there are still many things to be revised, and USA has a bad reputation at least, concerning amendments.

The way the USA has far more violent crimes than us, for instance.

I assume you speak of certain military dictatures and Nazi Germany. In the first case, nobody'd give a damn about the constitution. The second... Wasn't unconstitutional, as far as I know.

That's not what I was saying to do, either.
