That will never happen if the damn protectionists (who seem to be a reviving group these days) attack the superior foreign companies with ridiculously high tariffs, essentially giving affirmative action to American companies who can't succeed based on their own merit. Damn protectionists, trying to turn America into an isolationist market.

Isolationist foreign policy = great idea
Isolationist market = horrible (also xenophobic/nationalist/racist) idea

Last time we tried raising tariffs on Japan, they threatened a tariff war and Bush backed off.

Well, I guess one of the only good things about Bush is that he at least is fairly pro-free trade, although he's still far from perfect in that area.

There are still plenty of people out there who believe that guaranteeing the success of American workers and businesses is more important than having a true free market, and I assume there will only be more of them as foreign car companies become more successful and American car companies become less successful.

The true irony is the most American Toyotas are made in America, while most GMs are made in Mexico.

I will more than welcome the complete and utter destruction of American Megacorporations. And then I will rape their corpse with environmentally safe technologies, just so they know why they suck so much.
