POTUS, or any country leader for that matter, is called also known as Supreme Commander of the Military, IIRC.

And nuclear warheads aren't extremely large, F3n. You're not going to throw a entire reactor, when you can just launch a warhead.

A nuclear warhead's explosive head is structured exactly like your conventional bomb warhead, with only the insides of it different from your conventional bomb.

I see.

Well still, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be arming our submarines with Trident Nuclear Missiles. As seen a couple weeks ago, ships can be overtaken by the enemy. Besides, does it really make a different if we can get it to the target in 30 seconds or a minute? Actually, they would probably be more equal than that. I mean, the President giving it the ok, someone telling a government teleoperator to call the central Navy ship out there, and then that ship getting in contact with a particular submarine...

Well, that and the fallout would probably affect the Caspian Sea. I honestly don't know how big the nuke would be or anything, but I would assume we would fire it at the capital, and that is fairly close to that Sea. I don't know what nukes will do to water, but I am pretty sure it isn't anything good.

... You seem to be seriously underestimating the technology employed by the US navy. It stands to reason that if we (*civilians*) can have instant telecommunication networks via AOL instant messanger that the military would have a method a little bit more advanced dont you think?

and have you ever seen a submarine? not even a nuclear one, Im talking boats from back in world war two. its pratically impossible to get aboard with out heavy machinery to cut through the outer hatch locks and even then. Yeah, what your suggesting is a very daunting task that is very hard to accomplish.

I have seen military technology. My father has taught me a lot about it.
Sure, they probably could have slightly better technology, but as I know many people in the military, I can tell you that satellite linking is about as good as it gets. Which still takes a bit of time, about the same amount of time for the president to call some bomb shelter and shout "FIRE THE NONBELIEVER DESTROYERS!".

Thick metal..really doesn't stop anything. I have two words for that aspect. Plasma Cutter.

Yeah, Iran definitely has that technology underwater.

You need one man in scuba gear. Modern military plasma cutters were made with the intent to be used under any conditions. That includes underwater. Or else I am very impressed that my father managed to cut through steel plates underwater with one during training.

I seriously doubt the ability of one man in scuba gear to overtake a whole submarine.

I seriously doubt the submarine needs to be overtaken that moment. I would be impressed if it managed to get after several holes were cut into it.

And you are forgetting that James Bond was based off of real people. I'm sure taking over a submarine by yourself is possible.

This really has no backup whatsoever.

Yeah, I know. >_>
I didn't want this to get any more aggressive.

One man in scuba gear couldn't take a ship. No, that is silly.

But if the Iranian Navy, either of them, wanted to attacka submarine I'm sure they could. Whether they would want to capture it or just destroy it would make the difference in their approach.

If they wanted to destroy it, a squad of guys with a plasma torch and a bomb could do it. If they wanted to capture it, it would take 30 armed men or so. You don't have to take over submarines with other submarines.

Most of the baby boomers are dead. And if not, they should be. I'm so not getting into that with you, cause it doesn't have anything to do with this.

>_> boomers = ultra silent long deployment nuclear submarines that are platforms for nuclear missles to be launched, while most of the slots they have are being takin up by conventional smart missles they have the compacity to carry nukes, and are virtually invisible to sonar.

legion of plasma cutters, etc.

Eh, whatever. The fact is we don't have nukes in the water. And if we alone were to fight against Iran, we would have our ass handed to us unless we shot off several nukes, which would then make several countries shoot nukes at us, leaving us the loserz..still.

How can a squad, or a legion, for that matter, of plasma cutter-wielding scuba divers find, or reach a boomer?

Also, I have to stress that once again, no nukes will be launched, unless a Presidential order is given, and remember, the President's advisers will no doubt fight all they can against this order, especially because of what it will do diplomatically to the United States.
