http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_2007_Br...arines_incident Want a "Tonkin Gulf"-type incident to get us to go to war with Iran? This could be it. |

I just talked to my dad about it. It was by the Iranian Religious Navy of Zealous Persian Empire Reminiscers. Which if you didn't know, Iran has a COMPLETE separation of church and state. They have a president who controls the economic matters, and a uhh..something I cannot pronounce or spell that controls the religion. The Iranian Navy is well, a navy, but the religious version, something to do with a Republic(I keep forgetting their official terms), is a bunch of zealots on destoyers. The operations in the gulf make it so there are always several ships close together. That is why it is a complete mystery how they managed to be overpowered-- they should have had ample support craft. It couldn't have been a much larger force, or many more people would be missing or reported it. I am seriously concerned, because my dad is stationed on the USCGC Monomoy, patrolling the NAG(North Arabian Gulf), which is where it happened. |

No, it is a joint commission in the Arabian Gulf by Australia, Great Britain, and America. Every few months we rotate authority. Starting March, Great Britain had control over operations. So technically, we will be fighting our own war, since all three are still involved. I also checked up on my facts, and the IRAN(Islamic Republic of Iran Navy) is the normal Iranian Navy. The IRGC(Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps) is the zealot navy who are loyal to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Marja(religious leader). And yes, I also find it amazing I actually completely know what the hell I am talking about, and are likely the person with the most comprehensive knowledge on something fairly important here, for once. EDIT: Alright, I *think* that is the correct person that they are loyal to. I will need to ask my dad again, because I am not particularly well versed in what position is exactly the religious leader of Iran. EDIT 2: Alright, did it again. The Quds Force(elite unit, literally Jerusalem Force) directly takes orders from him, so I am going to go with that. The elite unit is the group that does the most. |

Well, quite honestly, I don't think we can do. If the three nations attacked together, we definitely could, but alone, I don't think there would be enough support without a draft, which I would bet at least 50% of able-bodied men would leave the country to evade. However, I am pretty sure we alone could take on their military, and possibly their air force. Though..it depends on which military we are attacking, and what our technical official proclamation is. Because almost every single man will try to join the military in Iran if they had the opportunity to shoot at an American. That petition is a 100% accurate depiction of over 99% of the Iranian population. |

Heh, thanks. My father is an E6 with specialization in seamanship. That would be Petty Officer First Class, Boatswains Mate First Class. On the USCGC Monomoy, the 110 ft. patrol boat he is stationed on, there are 24 people. Only 3 people have authority over him. Next monday, his position on that ship gets upgraded to First Lieutenant. There will still be 3 people above him, but now he gets orders directly from the captain of the ship. |

Okay, think of what little patience I have as, oh, I don't know, your virginity. You always thought it would be there, until that night Junior Year when you were feeling a little down about yourself and your pal Kevin, who just wanted to be friends, well, he dropped by and he brought a copy of About Last Night and a four-pack of Bartels & James and woo hoo hoo, it was gone forever - just like my patience is now. ~ Dr. Perry Cox Who the hell... put bouillon cubes in the shower head!?! Huh? Hm, did you do it? Hm? Did you? If it happens again, I will wait in my S.U.V., blast me some speed-metal -- 5.1 surround sound, heavy on the bass -- and someone... will be getting... mowed... down. ~ Dr. Hooch | |

did we trade them, or did they just release them? I have not talked to my father recently, but he said that their original offer was to release them if we released 5 POWs, that were involved in bombings. Apparently the way it looked, we were going to let the guys be beaten to death before we ever released prisoners. So did we? |

Wait, seriously? An Islamic country did that? After they forced the U.N. to make it a policy to not allow any bashing of Islam(or supposedly any other religion, though they mentioned no other religions)? BTW, did you know that because the Muslim countries effectively control the rights committee, the world as a whole is gradually losing rights to free speech? |
