Mafia Round V summary and analysis. First, positions: Mafia (Cult of the Dead Cow) -Blaze (GF) -Jeff icecreamman -Bombs -Waddacku More mafia (Cult of the Mad Cow) -Moonies -Gringe Mini-citizen alliance (Cult of the Alive Cow) -kippy33 -Shrimp Recruiter (Cult of the Land of the Squid of the Cow) -Lulu Bodyguard -TheRoadtoDawn Detective -Blaziken Vigilante -rnn2walls Citizens -Everyone else There were a bunch of crazy things to start the game. A larger-than average mafia, but they didn't know each other. Also, some opportunities for citizens to work together. Also there was a mafia opportunity. If they connected and everyone in the mafia voted for the same person, they could get an additional kill. Unfortunately, the CMC was killed off before this could happen. Overall, I tried to balance out the mafia and citizens. I rolled Blaze as the GF, which was perfect. I owed a debt to Bombs, and he got to choose his position (mafia). I let icecreamman be in the mafia because he was new at it, which would balance out Waddacku and Jeff's experience. The CMC was totally intentionally set up by me. Moonies and Glinge, the two least alike people, working alone but as the mafia. That would have been cool had they not been killed on the first day. Shrimp and kippy33 were the CAC, and could trust each other and help each other out. I chose two of the most reliable citizens of all time for this so they could really help each other out. From what I hear, they did fine. Lulu was rolled as the cult leader, which was cool. Unfortunately, he died. Blaziken investigated Jeff, who was a mafia member. This would lead to the picture fiasco later on. rnn decided not to vig anyone. ****Night 1***** Some members of the CDC voted for Shrimp. I'm pretty sure it was icecreamman and Jeff. They were trying to get the extra kill described above. However, Blaze came in and overrode them, taking out Moonies! However, Blaze did not know that Moonies was secretly his teammate. This is what the stalking was all about. The mafia tried to hit shrimp, but then Blaze did something totally different and changed targets. This is a clue even though it is totally in-game related. The Godfather must have been sporadic and likely to do crazy stuff... that's Blaze. Also, Lulu tried to induct Jeff. I tried to warn him of death, but he didn't listen. TheRoadtoDawn chose to protect Blaze the godfather tonight. Luckily it didn't matter. *****Day 1***** It kinda looked like the mafia might gangvote F3NR1L, but then everyone changed to Gringe. They actually were spot-on on this lynching. Glinge was quite inactive, not like himself. So everyone lynched Gringe, and made that whole “two seperate mafias” thing a big waste of time. It must be noted that F3NR1L was not a fan of random lynchings when he was being lynched, lol. *****Night 2***** icecreamman and Waddacku voted for Daloth. Then Blaze changed pace entirely and hit Eh...? I don't get this move. Eh was a first-time player who was quite frankly lost. I don't now why Blaze hit him. Personal reasons? I dunno lol. Anyways, Blaziken investigated F3n. He was a citizen. rnn hit Bombs, a CDC member. Nice shot. TrtD protected Shrimp, who the mafia might have killed but didn't >_> *****Day 2***** People started voting for Njord, who eh? Had accused. There is a possibility Blaze hit Blaze in order to create suspicion of Njord, but I doubt it. Anyways, that's what happened. But then SM came in with a game-changing post. Guys, I have a confession. I am the Detective. Jeff is Mafia. If you don't believe me, please view these pictures. I vote to lynch Jeff. Cyclops - 1 (icecreamman) Njord - 4 (kippy33, Shrimp, F3, Blaze) Jeff- 1 (Blaziken) Now, here are my thought about that. No good. Seriously, this is why it's wrong. -this gives an unfair advantage to the people who can't photoshop. -Part of this game is finding out identities. There should be no way to prove yours one way or another. So I resolved it by suiciding Blaziken into Jeff. Lulu PM'd Shrimp (who told kippy) with info that Lulu had tried to recruit Jeff, so Jeff was going to die soon anyways. So that was crazy, but at least now it's illegal and won't happen again. *****Night 3***** The mafia killed rnn. Actually, Blaze killed rnn because Blaze was crazy and told him he was the godfather. From what I hear, Blaze almost went berserk and spilled all the mafia members. Thanks for not doing that. And thanks to rnn for convincing Blaze not to ruin the game. rnn killed Njord as his final action, who was a citizen. TrtD protected Shrimp. Blaziken was dead lol. I have to say this. Tonight had one big clue to Daloth's innocence. On page 14, Daloth posted this messade: hmmm, I accept the terms of this agreement. but I will NOT Click Here That link went to Google, not the Ultimate Showdown website. Google was the good guy in the story, proving that Daloth was a citizen. I know it was a tough clue to find, but it was a winner if you guys found it. Daloth being a proven citizen has historically been powerful. *****Day 3***** The spot-on accusation from nowhere came in this round. I notice thate icecreamman has only accused w/o evidence and bandwagoned... HE MUST BE IN TEH MAFIA!!!!!!!!!! icecreamman - 1 (Blaze) it's true. Unfortunately, nobody else believed him. They chose to go with a FIREwall. I have to say, that was totally unintentional. I just wrote that for writing that, to tie in with the google clue. But it worked, so its good. *****Night 4***** Daloth died lol. I forget who TrtD protected, but it wasn't him. I also went on a rant about how the cits were complaining about clues when they were winning big. So there were no clues in that nights murder. Ha. *****Day 4***** Everyone voted for Jim because he seemed suspicious. Jim might have survived, except he voted for Shrimp, one of the foremost citizens. I must note that this was the first time all game the citizens missed a lynch. Day 1- mafia glinge Day 2- mafia Jeff Day 3- Mafia Blaze See, you don't need clues to hit the mafia. Really. *****Night 5***** Waddacku and icecreamman hit kippy. But then, TrtD protected him! This was a one-man clue, as TrtD knew of his innocence. I n other news, I finally cracked and wrote a story with obvious clues tonight. First of all, the ninja thing was insignificant. Just because Waddacku was shifty and didn't post in the forum a lot. Waddacku snuck in and tried to kill kippy. He signed them ~Kippy33 as to incriminate kippy if he failed. Also, there were many instances of four in the attempt. Waddacku's member No. is 4 and he joined on Sept. 4th. Shrimp brought up this clue, which was spot-on. *****Day 5***** Shrimp brought up the 4s and got Waddacku lynched. One member remained. *****Night 6***** icecreamman killed F3N. He was a watch vendor, because icecreamman is a vendor. I couldn't believe everyone missed the clue. Eh? also came back from the dead and pointed out that the mafia member said “One of Us.” This was indeed a clue, although when I wrote it I didn't realize that almost everyone left has One of Us as the member group. Anyways, everyone lynched TrtD because of the watches and everything, which I totally didn't expect. *****Night 7***** icecreamman killed shrimp, an excellent target. *****Day 7***** kippy used “last activity time” as a clue. That's kinda not cool, because it dissuades people from posting in the forum a lot. Also, it kinda doesn't make sense from a storyline standpoint. And, it's no fun. There will be a new site – z11.invisionfree.com/valentia_online where people will not be able to track last activity. That will be good. Anyways, kippy and Sir Hakado lynched icecreamman, and icecreamman saved everyone some trouble and got to the next game quicker by suiciding when he knew it was his only option. So that's the game! more next post! |

First, awards! MVP: Shrimp, kippy, rnn Shrimp found the Waddacku clue that sealed the deal for the citizens, and he was there voting right a lot of the time. kippy got Jeff lynched. rnn killed Bombs, and brought up Glinge. Overall, hard to judge, so all three get the title. MVM: icecreamman. As a first-time mafia member, he blended in nicely and almost made a comeback run. Close second is Waddacku, who stayed invisible until a big clue got him out. Glinge award: SM Posting crazy pictures and causing chaos. Crazy chaos. runner up: Blaze, for hitting unpredictable targets and not agreeing with his fellow mafia members. Most improved award: F3 You actually used logic and reason to vote for mafia members several times. Good show. highlight-reel move: Shrimp getting th Waddacku numbers clue exactly right. That was impressive. lowlight-reel move: SM posting pictures and suiciding himself to get a mafia member who was already under suspicion. Unluckyman: Moonies and Glinge. They both died before they could post. That's harsh. vanishing act: Bellomy. Dunno what happened to you there, buddy. Hope to see you at valentia_online. Overall notes: This game was crazy interactions that didn't happen. The Cult of the Land of the Squid of the Cow, as well as the Cult of the Mad Cow, were crazy twists that ended up not mattering due to death. Although looking back, that might not be all bad, because we needed a stable mafia game. After that, it was normal mafia, with a little rules issues being smoothed out. ***Strategy*** I heard that the mafia were able to connect after night one. Good job if you did. Overall, mafia played well. You guys got unlucky because due to an unlucky shot you killed moonies and also Glinge got axed for not causing chaos and Jeff got picture'd and Blaze told everyone who he was and Bombs got vig'd due to a very nice vig shot. So Waddacku and icecreamman were really on their own coming down the stretch. They did ok, until clues kicked in. I gave clues at the end to make a point. Mafia is more fun when it's close. The Waddacku clue --> kill made it not so close and not so fun IMO. And the vendor cllue killed the mafia's final hopes. If I had listened to my gut instead of the players, there would have been less clues. Why? Because the mafia wasn't doing so hot anyways and they needed the help. If you guys want the citizens to win every time, thats ok I guess, but I like it better this way. Citizens did an overall good job, getting 5/6 lynches correct. So don't complain about the clues. ***Lessons learned*** 1. Don't post inbox pictures. They screw the game up. 2. When you're dead or not playing, don't post clue analysis. This is important because the whole reason the people can't trust anyone is becasue anyone could be mafia. If a proven (e.g. dead) citizen posts, people trust him, and that is a huge citizen benefit. And the citizens don't need any more benefit. 3. Clues are many things. Above all, they are hard to judge in power. And insta-mafia kill clue is very powerful, but a citizen then mafia lynch clue is not. It can be hard to judge what the citizens will do, so it is hard to write balanced clues. GMing is hard. ***Summary of my GMing*** So my GMing for now has come to a close. I'll end this analysis with 3 things I did that were good and 3 things I did that were bad. These come from both games I GM'd. ###3 ways I made the mafia game better### 1. I picked up the pace. Seriously, it sucks when a day lasts a week. The game needs to move along, or else people lose interest. 48 hours for day and 24 hours for night is a good time limit IMO. A faster game means a cooler and smoother game, and I really did well in the speed area. 2. I resolved the picture fiasco well. SElf-explanatory. 3. I actually got through 2 mafia games. ###3 things I could have done better at### 1. Better clues. I realize my clues weren't nearly as good as Jeff's. This is something I plan to get better at, and I will write better clues in the future. 2. Less in-game sporiadic changes. This is more geared toward my first game than this one. I changed WAY too many things in the middle of the game. Like the betrayer and giving the mafia two kills per night. NOTE: Never give the mafia two kills per night. It's too powerful. Uh, I really messed things up there. 3. Less ambiguity. I think I confused some new players with crazy terminology and everything. Like "Next person to change their vote will be lynched." That was bad. Thus ends my GMing for now. I look foreward to my return. Thanks for playing everyone! It was fun. P.S. EVERYONE go sign up at z11.invisionfree.com/valentia_online right now. ~ToadYoshi |

The opinions expressed in the above post are totally and completely correct. If you disagree with them, you are wrong, there's just no other way to put it. I've seen knights in armor panic at the first hint of battle. And I've seen the lowliest, unarmed squire pull a spear from his own body, to defend a dying horse. Nobility is not a birthright. looking back on it, the eh kill kinda worked. I mean, it confused the citizens and bought you time. And shoot! Looking over my awards I realize that I forgot TRtD's timely save of kippy. That move really sealed the game for the citizens. I'd have to say that was the play of the game, even if it was more lucky than anything else. Major Props to teh road. |
