Yes, it is a dirty job, but somebody's got to do it. By Devin Owens and Tom Stacy Soap Opera Digest: How was your trip? Kelly Monaco: When you do nothing but sit on the beach and drink mai tais, it all blurs together [laughs]. Actually, it's been great. I've got a lot of friends here from other shows. We've been palling around, getting our feet wet in the sand, having some great dinners and great conversation, getting a little sun and just totally relaxing. I've never been here before so for me, it's fantastic. Digest: What have you been up to? Monaco: I just had a vacation with my family. I was in Mexico with 14 of my closest family members and I had a wonderful time. It was beautiful. It was my mom's 50th birthday, so we had all the kids and their kids and husbands. I needed a semivacation from the vacation [laughs], something with not so much chaos. Digest: Can you believe DANCING WITH THE STARS is already in its third season? Monaco: DANCING WITH THE STARS was the last thing on earth I or anybody ever expected to take off. I was embarrassed to tell my friends that I was even doing this show because as an actor, if you do a reality show, it's like you're a sell-out. For me, I thought, "This will go under the radar. No one will ever know about it. I can learn how to dance and have fun." I had come off some really personal experiences — my sister had been really sick. She couldn't walk for a little while and was in a wheelchair. And my best friend had just [gone into] remission with cancer. There were a lot of experiences in my life [going on then] and I saw the bigger picture, like, "My sister couldn't walk two months ago and I have the opportunity to learn how to dance. How am I going to say no to that?" I think I appreciated it. Maybe if it was six months prior to that, the outcome would have been totally different and I probably never would have done the show. Digest: And done what? SKATING WITH CELEBRITIES? Monaco: My mom's a figure skater, so please don't tell me about that show [laughs]. I'm so glad [DWTS] came out first because I probably would have been like, "Okay, my mom skates. She had us when she was 16 and I feel bad and so I've got to skate." It would have happened. Trust me. Thank God the other boat sailed quicker. Digest: You've made it no secret that should you re-sign with GH, you'd like to do more outside projects. How do you juggle all that and still have a life? Monaco: When I go to work and I only have 15 pages of dialogue, I seem to [slack] off the whole day and I really don't get anything done. When I have 55 pages, it's like some of the best work of my life. I've always been like that. I've always maintained more than one job from the time I was 11 years old. And it's not that I don't have a life, but the people in my life are directly involved with me and in my work. So it's not like I'm not seeing the people who are close to me and the people who matter, because they're with me all the time. That makes it a little easier. I don't have any kids. I'm not married, and I'm already 3,000 miles away from my family so either way, I'm not going to see them. I'm young, man. I'm going to have all the time in the world to take some breaks and kick back. Digest: So, can you tell us anything yet about the negotiations? Will you be sticking around? Monaco: Let me put it this way ... There's no way I would want to leave daytime behind no matter what the opportunities are because I really like daytime. Digest: Promise to keep us posted? Monaco: You know I will. Digest: Okay. On a lighter note, Halloween is coming up. What's been your most memorable Halloween costume? Monaco: I love this question! I was infatuated with Wonder Woman when I was younger, so I was Wonder Woman probably six years in a row, from like the age of 6 on. One Halloween, when we lived in Philadelphia, we had a staircase of about 40 stairs and I really thought I was Wonder Woman. I stood at the top of the staircase and jumped down and broke my ankle [laughs]. It was the best costume ever! VCR Dates It's been the question on everyone's mind since Elizabeth found out that she is pregnant: Who's the daddy? On Monday, October 23, Sonny gets his hands on the results of Liz's paternity test. Across town, Alexis, still reeling from the effects of chemotherapy, explodes when Ric tries to defend his actions on Tuesday, October 24. Cover Story Part 1 On GH, Ric sends Jason packing, Sam almost exposes Liz and Carly and Jax Kiss The Single Life Good-bye On GH, Ric launches a sinister scheme to nail Jason, and Sam considers telling Lucky that his wife Liz's baby might be Jason's. But the week begins on a decidedly lighter note as jax pops the question to Carly. It finally happens "Carjax" fans: Jax proposes to Carly and Carly says...why? LW says that she doesn't say yes right away. She gives him every reason not to marry her and he says, "Every single reason you give me to say no are all the reasons why I want you to say yes. I love all those crazy, insane things that make you so bizarre." Does she doubt Jax's feelings for her? No. Does she think she deserves him? No. Carly's worst problem is herself. Jax remain undaunted. Ingo says that he has finally realized that it's time. This woman is great and despite her history, she's the first woman he has been with who has been stable. Carly, of all people! He never knew her like that during her mental breakdown last year, but he thinks it can really work. She's going to hang in there. Even if they do get into fights and face problems, they're going to make it. The problems come right after Carly says yes, when the subject of the wedding party arises. Carly asks Jason to stand up for her, while Jax asks Alexis to do the honors. LW laughs and says that is Carly's worst nightmare. She goes, Absolutely not. That woman is not coming to my wedding. She doesn't even like me! Ingo counters, Carly comes with Jason and Sonny, so that's the baggage he has to accept. In comparison, Alexis isn't that big a deal. We'll see, kids... Cover Story Part 2 And Baby Makes...Five Meanwhile, Jason has more on his plate than picking out a tuxedo. He and Sam agree that while it will be hard to overlook Jason's liaison with Liz, and Sam's ons with Ric, their love is worth the effort. But Sam wants Liz to tell Lucky that the baby she's carrying may be Jason's. Kelly Monaco says that Sam can feel for Lucky. Sam has instinct to look out for herself and prefer, to a great extent, to keep it that way. But she has a humane side. When Lucky finds out what's going on, he is going to be in as much pain as Sam. When Liz refuses to fess up, Sam takes matters into her own hands and visits Lucky. At the last minute, Sam can't bring herself to spill the beans. She also realizes it's going to be a struggle for their future if Jason turns out to be the father. The possibility is too new and too fresh to deal with now, says KM. "If he is or if he isn't, we'll see. But I don't think Liz is going to be too happy with this little thug of a lady stalking her and her kid. (Laughs)" Cover Story Part 3 Beaten To The Finish Line Matters of the heart take a backseat for Jason as his war with dirty DA Ric escalates. After Ric discovers the secret of Liz's child, he steps up his plan for revenge. Ric initially baits Jason into in a vicious fistfight, then plans to file attempted murder charges. Rick Hearst says that in regards to setting Jason up, you can see Ric is in a place of being so resolute in his hatred of this man that he's willing to put himself in harm's way in order to eliminate his enemy. He's willing to do whatever it takes to get Jason out of commission, whether it's putting him in jail or having him killed. It could be in that order or whatever it comes first. As far as Jason is concerned, the feeling is mutual. Steve chuckles and says that "he's always wanted to kill Ric anyway. I'm surprised that it has Jason this long. Jason's walking with Liz, minding his own business, and Ric starts pushing his buttons. "Stay away from Liz. Sam's a w**re." All that stuff. So, he gets what he wants. He was setting Jason up. Then he calls Sonny to come save him, but he takes a good beating. (Laughs)" Sonny steps in to keep the boys apart, but it appears that this was just round one of a bigger battle. SB says that Jason would kill Ric in a second if it wasn't for Sonny. There wouldn't even be a second thought about it. For all the stuff that character has done? If there was one killing that would be justified to do, it would be him. What about all the other poor bastards floating in the lake? They didn't do as much! He would have no problem, and Sonny and Jason are going to butt heads on that. Sonny realizes that it's in Jason's best interest to leave the country until he can play magician and make the charges disappear. SB says Jason's got to lay low until the heat dies down. Who knows how long he'll be gone? A few days? Maybe longer? It hasn't been the best week for Jason." Grapevine GH insiders are whispering that the death toll could rise in an impending mob war." Kelly Monaco Talks ABout Her Contract Issues. KM says that she'll PROBABLY stick around. She says that she thinks that something can be worked out where she'll be happy , daytime will be happy, and her agents will be happy. She says theres no way she would want to leave daytime behind and that she really loves her job. Her ability to do other projects is the sticking point. She would like to go out and expirement more. She admits that people in the industry are surprised that she wants to keep her daytime job. She says she loves to work, so she can do two things at once. She talks some about Desperate Housewives, that's about it. Casting. Bob Pescovitz (Frank Billings): This patient of Robin and Patrick's airs on Oct. 26. Poll Steve, Kim and Scrubs Mail. Fan letter wishing Lucky wasn't only getting better for Liz's baby. Mailbag are fans who want Robin to have a baby. |

As tension rises between Ric and Jason, Alexis asks him to keep the peace. Lulu learns of Pete's tragic past. Carly informs Sam if she's not careful, she will lose Jason. Patrick returns home to a happy reunion with Robin. Sonny suggest Jason leaves town, after an encounter with Ric. Luke and Robert take on another mission together. Skye is about to bring new life into the world. Taking Drastic Measures Mac is utterly devestated to learn of Maxie's pregnancy and forbids her from filing a suit against ELQ. Lulu gives advice to Maxie on what she should do about her unplanned pregnancy. Maxie informs her that she could never kill her baby, like LuLu did. After an argument with Dillon and LuLu, Maxie manipulates Lucky into consoling her. LuLu finds Maxie with Lucky. Later, Mac visits Lucky and confronts him about Maxie and the baby. D2D PreVUE's for the Week of October 23 Monday: Sonny gets his hands on the results of Elizabeth’s paternity test. Tuesday: Alexis explodes when Ric tries to defend his actions. Wednesday: Sam confronts Alexis over her manipulative ways. |
