Belbin-Agosto retire from competition

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto's success goes far beyond their Olympic silver medal.
Belbin and Agosto called it quits Thursday on a competitive career that changed ice dance in the United States, transforming it from a snoozer of a sport to a discipline in which the Americans are now a powerhouse. Along with their silver at the 2006 Torino Games, they were five-time U.S. champions and four-time medalists at the world championships.

Update from PA
Happy summer everyone!
Sorry I haven't been keeping in touch very well lately. Ben and I had a few shows to do in Japan and Korea over the course of the past month, so our schedule has been a little more crazy than usual. I can't complain though, the feeling of skating in front of an audience like the one we did in Korea is an experience I will never forget. These fans were so excited to see us all perform that you would think we were rock stars. When the men skated I thought some of the women might faint, it was incredible! We are so lucky to do what we do and be so appreciated by all of our fans, both at home and abroad.
It's been business as usual here in Aston. We're training away and building confidence in our future. I know the winter Olympics seem far away to most, but for all of us aiming for a spot on that team, they're just around the corner. Every step needs to be carefully planned now and I feel more assured than ever that coming to train with Natalia and Gennadi was the first of hopefully many which we've taken in the right direction. They are a formidable pair and I think dance fans will really enjoy seeing the changes they've made in our skating.
Now, onto the most important part of my message: Thank you for all your wonderful birthday wishes! I was a little sad to see 23 go. I always thought of it as a lucky number since it was Michael Jordan's jersey number... but 24 is Kobe Bryant's and he was the MVP this year so the superstitious side of me takes that as a good sign Either way, I had a great birthday and got to spend it with the one I love the most. What more could I ask for? Here's to another blessed year of adventure and learning.
I made a new discovery here in PA called Brusters ice cream that is probably going to end my career if I'm not careful. Their "birthday cake" ice cream is the greatest thing that has happened to me in a long time and I'm making it my summer recommendation for all of you! Go ahead, you deserve it.

Tanith and Ben have announced that they have left Shpilband for Linichuk. I hope it is a good choice. They surely needed a new perspective on their skating and new choreography. I can't wait to see what Linichuk will do for them

Tanith and Ben are skating to Chopin for their Free Dance this year. For the Blades on Ice link scroll down quite a bit to the part that says Summer Training in Igor Shpilband's Dance School to read the part about Tanith and Ben.
