Ratings are based of of the elo system first divised as a method for ranking within the united States Chess federation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_sy...a_reward_system
I used to use the actual forumula for the USCF which involved a +0-+32 for wins and -0 to -32 for loses based on difference in ratings. however this took more work then I wanted to being as I had to keep track of and input a lot of 4 digit numbers into a calculator. so I took the basic principles of the Elo System and have divised this new formula which I will be using to give smaller numbers and make the system easier for me to update.

I will not keep track of ranking changes that would leave a player below .5 point on the scale. Basically it eliminates me having to update trainees who lose in the first round more often then not. I will consider all players under 1 a 0 and/or unranked. then after that I will use this formula. For it I will round all ratings down to the whole number essentially disregarding the decimal.

+0 5 less -0.50
+0 4 less -0.50
+0.025 3 less -0.40
+0.025 2 less -0.30 -
+0.05 1 less -0.20
+0.10 same -0.10
+0.20 1 more -0.05
+0.30 2 more -0.025
+0.40 3 more -0.025
+0.50 4 more -0
+1.00 5 more -0

Note I realize this will Create a need for an individual to do fairly well in a tourney to make it to the rankings list. oh well deal with it I don't wanna try to keep track of 100+ people like before.
