Perhaps Batemans Bay should be dropped for this season to encourage boats to go to Nats, and stay up there for B2B.

Will Keep it in but take it off the Grand Prix. It would be a good chance for boats who are sailing the Magics to take out some new blood in their Elliotts.

Am looking at how to manage the storage and moving of boats who are in QLD for the Nationals, B2B and Wintersun then possibly Airlie.

cool.

The majority of Magic crews and owners are from other classes, new or returning to sail. WT is the only full crew, and WT will be doing the States, Nats and hopefully Wintersun and B2B.

St Helena Cup is a good race as well, two days racing, no need to carry any gear and a cracker party on the Sat night. Possibly a better option than B2B or Wintersun?

Unfortunately clashes with HCW, hopefully one day we will do that. The NSW's are the following weekend as well. Perhaps next season (run States later) we leave the boats there all winter. Hope you have a lot of room up there Barman!

I think we like the idea of escaping the southern winter, and the novelty of distance racing over 2 days as well.

Could the St Helena accommodate a QLD States? Will certainly be needed with the growth up there.

Hi Guys,
I thought we were going to try and keep Skandia week on the calendar for Australia Day. (even though the Nationals are elsewhere, a number of boats voiced their intent to go to Geelong anyway).

If you do want to drop Skandia week, we will need to make a call quickly as I need to let Geelong know if there is any interest in a separate elliott division (Vic titles?) or if we lump in with the sportsboats.
We should also use the mailing list for this conversation, as some people (ok.....I'm guilty) don't log in regularly enough to the forum.
Cheers,

N4S

Personally after 3 years I think a break is good.

Also it has been a disappointing VIC show up the last 2 years, I think 100% roll in from other states.

Qld is having terrific growth with even Doc's (SA) boat now up there and they need to have all our support as we have done with VIC.

Hopefully we will return there in a season or 2.

Boats competing in the Sportsboats will need to be weighed and measured to SMS. Go to ASBA.org.au for info.

Steve's right, zero support from Vic and this year they are talking about a 4 day event. Based on that it would be worth getting measured and competiing with the rest of the Sportsboats.

Hopefully we will be able to do all our winter racing in QLD which for you Canberrans would be heaven

I think it has generally been agreed SGW is dropped as an Elliott event for next year.

I plan to take Humungus there and race in the sportboat div cos I think it is the best regatta in Australia. It will be fun to face some other competition. It would be awsome to get a bunch of E7s there to mix up the sporties

I thought we were having the Nationals on Lake Macquarie out of RMYC? If the Nationals are in Brisbane, I'll be tempted to take the boat to Skandia Geelong Week and race in the Sportsboat Division with a group of my usual deck clowns.

We had the Cherub Nationals at RQYS last year, and I'm not in the mood for sailing on those waters for some time after losing five days of the regatta due to a cyclone. Not a major fan of starting races at 6:00am in the morning and thumping out of the harbour at 5:30am with a filthy hangover.

48, It will be Easter time so out of Cyclone season!

Friday 10 Apr 09 Nationals Brisbane
Saturday 11 Apr 09Nationals Brisbane
Sunday 12 Apr 09Nationals Brisbane

To be run out of Wynnum too, I think.

Besides there are some other good regattas through winter up there, so park the boat and fly in. They have a growing number so it would be great for us to show up in numbers and get a 20 odd fleet.

The Monday is free to travel home again as well.

Easter Regatta! Could be some good times ahead.

That also means a group of us could do Skandia Geelong Week as well. Who's keen?
