Went for an interesting cruise with the family today, left the mast at home and went up the upper reaches of Lane Cove River up to Lane Cove River Park. Got some interesting looks

Attached map shows the route

I'm surprised you didn't see us sitting around with no wind, drinking cans and talking to the guys taking part in the Drummoyne winter race who were becalmed. Looks like an interesting trip - I suppose you spent a bit of time with the keel retracted as you headed north-west up the Lane Cove River.

Are you sailing on the Long Weekend? There's a mean forecast for Saturday (25-30 knots from the SE). I'm sailing on my brother's F18 Nacra at Toukley on Sunday, but we'll take the E7 for a cruise on either Saturday or Monday depending on the strength of the breeze.

We only dropped the keel down a few inches, no wind, no waves, no mast and the rudder was 3/4 of the way up as well. I think we touched mud a few times

And I got lost on the way there and got stuck in a dead end street and had to take the boat off to turn around

Out of interest, Jim, where do you normally put your boat in the water? I put mine in at Drummoyne Boat Ramp, which is an excellent facility (it would be perfect if there was a jetty along one site of the ramp). You pay the price for this though - there can be a lot of powerboats using the ramp on sunny Sundays.
