Well there's 4 E7's entered for the Wintersun, with one still to enter. Plenty of breeze will make the racing interesting up through the channels. I think the Barney Army will be getting new kite sheets a little sooner than expected with the shy stuff causing ours to stretch like buggery in some wind. Question, do you guys use tapered sheets? Theres a bloke on the Sunny Coast who does them, not sure on the cost though. I noticed Walshy just has 5mm sheets, but I would prefer thicker than that to take care of my soft hands. Havoc wheres your entry??? |

Got word yesterday there is a good chance we will see a top rate Etchells crew(They won the nats) line up for the Nationals here in Brisbane next easter. Might have half a chance of knocking off you Mexicans huh!!! Will hopefully be some good competition so book your Holidays and get your boats up here! |

Well after the ordeal with our rating we are now packed up and almost ready to hit the road to go north. It will be interesting to see how we fare against the other sporties but we feel well prepared to give them all we've got. The large esky full to the brim with the young fella there to hand out the important ingredients needed to win the race, Walshys boat as spare all but the hull (maybe we should take that too) Can't wait to catch up with those who are there. Wish more E7's were going maybe next year if were not bankrupt before then Cheers Barman Edited by Barman, Aug 10 2008, 10:43 AM.

Well the St Helena Cup is once again upon us, a fleet of 90 to 100 mono's have entered, all one division, one start. From Farr 40's to Hood 23's makes for an exciting start, dodging the slower boats and trying not to get rolled by the larger yachts. The course is wine glass shaped around St Helena and Green Islands and ensures a full range of angles on Moreton Bay. 4 Elliott 7's have entered this year, Danger Zone, Full Frontal, Steeple Jack and Barney Army. A team of three boats with consistent results over the two days is required to win the Cup, which IMHO is second only to the Brisbane to Gladstone as SE Queensland's premier Regatta! It would be great to see some of you guys enter this race in years to come. Heres hoping for good weather, 15 to 20 would suit us and a great party on Saturday night to top it all off. Will give a full report and victory speech next week Ahh don't think so haha! |

Well we checked our rig measurements yesterday, our forestay is about 100mm too short to get anywhere near the rake you guys carry, so down to the riggers we go! We had the same sidestay tensions, and now have the same lowers. Ahh the joys of it all haha!! |

The rake is back a little from the states, but we are yet to take here out for a sail. We have been out of the water for a few weeks, trying to catch up work and stuff! Possibly out Sunday or definantly next week. |

Well there are 3 E7's entered for the Cock of the Bay, Dangerzone, Steeple Jack and Need for speed. It will be the first hitout for the n4s guys, hope they do well. Unfortunantly we cant make it, need to catch up my weekends at work. Wishing the 20 odd entries fair winds on Sunday. Entries |

Cock of the Bay Report. What an excellent day out there, not a huge fleet (about 25 starters) with 3 Elliotts 7's Danger Zone, Steeple Jack sporting a new looking main and Need for Speed. Very nice 15 knots with calm seas. Danger Zone (Me) got an excellent start at the boat end and proceeded to go fast. We were swapping positions with an Ellioott 7.8 till we turned at the northern end of St Helena were the reaching speed of the 7.8 was too much for us to keep up with. Just behind us was a Ross 780 with Carmen (Barney's better looking half) and then Steeple Jack, from St Helena Island out to Hope Banks was a very shy reach with the sports boats clearly having the advanatge of being able to carry their asso's much higher than we could. Great waves all the way till the finish (these boats are such fun off the wind and surf like a mailboo) This was the day of the big storm up here and we could see nasty looking clouds looming over the land. The results didnt change from the top mark at St Helena till the finish. Was a great day out. Thinking we may have been close enough to get a place we hung around for presentations but got 4th on Handicap. I am really starting to wonder who I have to pay to get something for all our work. Heres a pic of the temporary launching ramp that appeared out the front of my house when we got home. |
