Thanks Jim That mostly how we set up Go Go Except the adjustable forestay. I had the design idea to start to keep a clean deck and that seemed to work quite well. At present I believe that i'm still one up on barman even with my small kite trimmer. How many are doing the B2B? Cheers Cameron |

Ex WT, now Quix Stix again planned to race last Sunday, but a late start as 2 crew had Birtrhday nights on the Saturday meant 3 of us were fronting up to 35Kt gusts, so after seeing a 35 footer return with broken mast and general carnage, and the stealth cowboys retiring, us girls thought that housework was the best option. So we had a nice talk with Drew from go go to compare notes. Our setup is as Jim explained, but we havent tested it against others yet. We had a good run last week at wags, and got the feel that the E7 was definitely a fast boat in a mixed fleet and despite luffing the main most of the way with a number 2 jib in 25kts and sailing well canted over, we were only really pipped by a big farrier. I have 2 questions. 1. Any planned elliott activity in brisbane before the next combined clubs race on April 20 How about over Easter, And, 2, we are set up for Kite launcing from the forward hatch, but last week in 25kt and Moreton bay chop we shipped a fair bit of the wet stuff through the hatch, so launching from the main hatch may be a better bet. What is the best system? all suggestions gratefully accepted David |

Adjustable forestay makes rigging and tuning heaps easier. Pillow may be able to elaborate on variations on different breezes. The rope adjusters on the lowers are critical to stop the inside out action on the main. Our kite lives in a bag with a square PVC electrical conduit pipe hoop that fits the front hatch and the companionway. If it is moderate and not much water we set and drop out of the front. But if it blows you can leave the front hatch shut and leave it the companionway and near the top mark pull it out and drop it into the front hatch for the set pull the bag out and close the hatch and drop into the back. If it is really hairy leave it in the companionway |

Thanks Jim, I hadn't appreciated that the 2 hatches were similar sizes. Do You keep the Halyard and sheets attached or hook them on at the last minute? I will need new sheets for main hatch launches as the current ones are just the perfect length for the front hatch, no weight penalty possible! D |

Leave everything attached, that way all you have to do is lift it out and pass it around the shrouds. Just add some tails to the end of your sheets rather than buying new ones. The front hatch is smaller so design the bag frame to fit in the aft hatch, then it sits over the front hatch |

We always set out the front. Just pull the hatch up going uphill and then drop it down just before the set when the Bow is making sure the corners are out. |

Cameron, we (E57, Quik Stix) set out to get to Shorncliffe but were pretty much becalmed between St Helena and Mud Islands until well after the start. We drifted around abit until a light breeze took us back to the multis, then put up the kite and came back to manly by about 230. I didnt see you out there David |

David I did the race on a double shitter, shitter. First 44.7 On Y Va from Manly. One of the most comfortable rides and the most pleasent B2G races in a long time, beat all but one of the boats we were to beat and left the owner happy. No Breakages was the best thing. Barney couldn't have come with us but "DRY BOAT" Except for the 3 bottles of red we :ph43r: on board. Cheers see you at the B2B? |

Cam, sounds like gin and tonics in wicker chairs on the teak deck. Youll be back to real sailing soon. Not doing B2B this year as experience and crew commitments a problem that weekend, but planning on racing on April 20, Canaipa cup and maybe peel island race. We need more round the cans experience, so suggestions are welcome. Our boat is not dry, Im working out a way for the esky to automatically move from side to side when we tack. David |

The soft six pack esky type warn like a bum bag Ive found works but can get in the way, also the additional 4kg water ballast per person, helps on the first couple of windwards on windy days. :ph43r: Cheers Cameron |

We keep our 60ltr esky nice and handy in the companion way. Send the young fella in between tacks and runs to send out the beers. Need two before the start to settle the nerves then its all downhill from there! |

Re The Elliot at the start of the B2G was DangerZone. We were out snapping some pics and getting into trouble with an overzealous ploice officer. Great morning out but no breeze at all. |
