Hi all, I have aquired E57, now ex Walter Turnbull so the mighty Quik Stix rises again.( I was told it was bad luck to rename the boat.) I would love to know some of the history of this boat. I have it at RQ and waiting for a permanent hardstand. With the terrible weather and too much work have only had 2 shakedown sails for a new crew and owner. Great fun and much faster than I imagined. We plan on joining the combined race series (1st race out as I am interstate so March 9 is target), Ist WAGS of the month, some of the SAGS series, Peel Island Marathon, Canaipa Cup, maybe Bay to bay if we are ready and wintersun. So count us in for Elliot series, and looking forward to ctching up with everyone at last |

Good luck David, she will get you half way around! Great boat and sorely missed
.I think she pretty much did all her time in Canberra. Matt will know her history. Twice National and NSW champ. The fleet up there is closing in fast on the ACT fleet! |

Hi David, Welcome to the Queensland Elliott group, I bought Danger Zone from RQ and moved her over to WMYC. WE race every Sunday with at least 1 other however there a few at the club now and hopefully we will get more out on a Sunday. You can change the name as long as you keep the original name on the boat somewhere. Look forward to seeing you on the water. |

Good to see 3 of us racing yesterday in the combined clubs race I'm putting the push on the others so we should have 5 or 6 for the next race which is the 9th March (Triangles to test out the crew work ) What a great kite ride yesterday still got a smile on my face. May see us out and about next Sunday. If not sags a trip to peel with the kids |

Was great to see 3 Elliotts out there, I am only sorry we put that tiny head sail up. Once we changed we turned a 500 meter loss to full frontal to a 500 meter gain very quickly. Should have seen the lee bow I put on him.
loved it. I goto say I have never ever had such fun downwind, it is absolutely amazing to see how fast these boats are off the breeze and how stable they are. Pity about our flag flying episode but the crew is new and still learning. Looks like the issue of poor performance off the breeze is resolved. mast rake was way out. Cant wait for the next round. See you out there. |

Dangerzone will be out on Sunday, I must say these boats are bullet proof. We had her out for the SAGS on Sunday in 25 knots plus and she was great. Didnt break a thing and the speed rush was incredible. we would have busted 15 knots without a kite. |

Well what a massive day yesterday, 4 E7's ventured out to play in 25knots which built to 30+ after the start. We T Boned a boat before the start, bent the pulpit no real biggie and lost the top batten out of the main. Racked up beside Havoc they had a little speed on us with 5 crew but we handled it a little better perhaps in the big squall and edged in front. That was it, they called the race off so we cruised back to the ramp and drank the rest of the beer on the trailer. It was a bit scary trying to bear away behind a 45foot slug who was steaming towards us in 30+ knots. With 60 odd boats at the start in that stuff was fun
Bring back the 10 - 15 please.

Yep sure, we went out Sat night as well in 20-25 and that was fine, had a 2 hr beat to Cleveland yellow then a 40min spin run home, was great fun. We were about 1/2 an hour behind an Adams 10 at the top and finished a boat length behind. Very shy coming home and the boat loved it!!!

Needls and Pins has had all my time lately to get her to Brisbane But after Saturday in the 25-30 we had too, Handicap start, 11 minutes in front of the mumm 30 finished 6 minutes in front of the mumm 30 after 2 hrs 15min racing. This mumm is now carrying about 125sq mtr kites :ph43r: Our rudder post was at 25 degrees when we finished Program over. Back to Elliott program Froot loop needs the deck fitted out and sailing. Have you changed any of your deck lay out? I've been thinking of going to the single winch, for the keel and if we can use it for kite sheeting as well, only if it won't cut into the hatch edges. Problem is we run so many shy courses up here like S2C and B2B that it helps to have them. I have beaten Acelerate in Yeppoon a number of times just because they physicaly couldn't hold on to the sheet. Other than that we were pretty happy with the old layout as the idea was to keep the weight on the rail. Pics coming soon to a screen near you. Cheers Cameron |
