Meanstreak II – 8 speed // 8 traction // 2 torque // 5 weapon // 7 armour (+1 drum) Mr. Bight Sky – 7 speed // 5 traction // 3 torque // 5 weapon // 10 armour Analysis 1) In a battle of two control designs, I’m faster, have much better control, and a better wedge with my sharp skids. My weapon also doesn’t need to be timed. It’s always going and can flip him instantly upon contact. 2) It’s hard to tell what’s what with Pat’s lego, carboard, and tape models photographed with a potatocam, but this design looks very prone to wheelying depending on where the wheels are. I don’t see them sticking out the back of his bot, so I think I can assume that they’re completely in-chassis. That’ll also make him vulnerable to being high centered while Meanstreak is almost impossible to high-center by comparison. Strategy a. Go at him head-to-head and just start chain flipping him like a maniac. Pat rarely has any subtlety to his strategies, but I’ll watch out for an counter any angling in or flanking attempts with my better drivetrain. b. Take advantage of any oversteer and remain ruthlessly aggressive and bullish, in other words, not like a spinner. I’m the brick here. Don’t let him settle onto his wheels evenly and escape. c. I mostly want to feed him to the hazards and let them keep flipping him or frying him. Hey, it’s not a pin, but it keeps him effectively on the defensive and unable to really retaliate. d. If I get wedged, there’s nothing to stop e from j-hooking off and then right into his side, so do that, and do it quickly before he can flip. e. If I get flipped, and can’t gyro over or flip myself back by hitting him, then – if it’s safe to do so – just edge the tips of my skids onto a floor flipper to turn be back over. Don’t go too far on so that it can’t get too much bite on me and potentially score a meaty, damage-dealing flip. f. Overall, just stay mean and aggressive AF. Chain flip and crowd him, adjust using common sense, avoid the hazards unless I’m feeding him to them, self-right, drive smart, and (hopefully) win. GL |
