Magnolia Magnifico - 5 speed / 5-1 traction / 1 torque / 12 weapon (8 flipper / 4 turret) / 11 armour

vs.

Lulver - 6 speed / 5 traction / 1 torque / 13 weapon / 5 armour

Observations

a) He does absolutely zero damage to my front plow and only minor 2 point damage anywhere else. My flipper causes three points of impact damage. It won't realistically cause a knockout on its own, but basically any bending or warping of his chassis should be disastrous given the clearance between it and his blade.

b) We're equal in control and he's a shade faster, but it's not enough to really allow him to control the fight or outrun my turret.

c) I think it was unfortunately missed in my previous result that Magnolia Pico (in all configs) has a lot of knockback mitigation: four traction equaling approximately four feet, 10 legs, equaling two more feet, and being double weight, which should roughly halve the distance knocked back.

Tactics

1. Obviously watch for trickery. Brad's not gonna play this straight, because if he does, he loses. If something is obviously going on, let him reveal his hand first. If it isn't, then come out immediately and stuff him. Watch out for sideways starts and gyro swings/turns.

2. I should only be sent back about 3 feet following impacts, so close the distance immediately and flip again. Flip him at every opportunity that I have, and try to get him into the hazards while avoiding them myself. Pay attention to arena positioning so as not to end up on them.

3. I'm not too worried about smothering. He can't hurt me. I'll fire the flipper right into his spinner, and he should really dance when he gets thrown. Follow up as quickly as I can while he's still doing the funky chicken.

4. If he tries to use his wedge instead, start with my flipper facing to side and let him get under my ample frontal ground clearance. I can't be high-centered. Then swing my flipper around from the side and get its edge under him before flipping. Don't be averse to strafing to the side to give my flipper more bite, and keep doing it if it works.

5. In general, stay aggressive and keep flipping him. Watch out for obvious tricks, use the ability of the turret and my strafing to keep my flipper facing him at all times, and follow up hits as quickly as I can.

LoC best possible arena for this fight IMO.

Flipper config tells me he's going to play a more defensive game than if he were to choose the hammer. Given he has a 13 armor plow on a turret, my guess is that he plans to rotate the flipper around to stop me from doing my undercutter business. I don't damage him much anyway, so forget undercutting, and forget spinning in general. My advantages are in drive stats and wedge. I'mma outbrick this fool :P

Start inverted and bully him with my wedge nose. If my approach looks really bad, spin up temporarily to bounce myself away and try again. Push him into the floor flippers and keep him upside-down as much as possible.

There's of course the issue of "what happens if the flipper clips my bar?" Solution: don't let that happen. Get him at angles where he's unlikely to do that without significant turret rotation, and don't drive at him with the bar sticking forward. If I need to, I can spin up for a moment and try to get the bar into a better position, but that's unreliable enough that I'd rather set my angles up with smart driving.

If flipped, get unflipped (re-flipped?) and resume wedge nose bullying. Don't drive like a moron. Use the conveyor belts to my advantage.

Good luck! :D
