Stats Krakatoa XL – 7 speed // 6+1 traction // 2 torque // 5 weapon (3/3/3) // 10 armour (+1 clamp) Vs. Speed Bison – 7 speed // 6 traction // 3 torque // 2 weapon // 12 armour (+1 plow/forks) Analysis 1) Due to the traction bonus, I have the better control in this fight, which should be crucial. My marginally lower torque shouldn’t be a huge issue, since my offense involves lifting my opponent off of the ground entirely. 2) It’s a tossup between his forked setup and the forks of my lifter for who has the better wedge, and will mostly depend on positioning. That’s why control is even more important here. None of his setups are particularly good at keeping me wedged, either, while mine control him completely. 3) I imagine that there are some substantial openings in his chassis to allow for articulating wheels, which make nice targets for my flamethrowers. Strategy a. I wanna come out aggressively and stay aggressive for the whole match. Use my better control to keep him adjusting to me. Obviously watch out for something tricky at the start of the fight. b. I wanna use small turns just before we hit to gain the angle advantage and slip under his forks. If I fail, a quick j-hook is all it takes to escape. If I succeed, immediately clamp, lift, and roast, bringing him to the arena flamethrowers too and then suplexing him onto the flippers when the pin timer’s up. c. Crowd and harass him while he’s trying to self-right and use it as an opening to grab him again. Rinse and repeat. Drive smart, self-right, use the hazards, avoid obvious baiting situations, and stay aggressive and in his face. d. The main decider in this fight is that there’s not much that he can do except push me for a few seconds until I j-hook away, while I can demonstrate real control over him and deal a bit of damage. We're practically equal in driving: Krakatoa's got a tiny bit more traction thanks to its tracks but that's a small difference. What's going to make more of a difference is the length of his forks. They stick out way ahead of his axis of turning. Speed Bison is a bit more of a round shape, so its forks are closer to its center of turning. This will make it easier for me to get in on the side of his fork, and therefore easier to get underneath him. If we come at each other head on, it's likely to be a stalemate: since we both have forks, they're likely to interlock and neither of us will fully get under the other. My slightly higher torque will let me push him around a bit in these situations. My goal is to somehow get at Krakatoa from the side, lift his side off the ground, and push him into the wall, or the hazard corners if I can. The rest of the time, drive to prevent him from getting under me and don't let him at my sides. If he does get me in his jaws, I'll have a good chance to get away. I can lower my front wheels to keep them in contact with the ground if I'm being lifted, and so I should be able to j-hook away before I'm all the way in the air. If he uses his flamethrowers, I'm well armored enough that they'll have no effect whatsoever. In summary, keep at him, don't get wedged, and wedge and lift Krakatoa as often as I can. Good luck Laz! |
