Instigator vs Sundancer; Ruination Week 2 - MW

No Anti-Spinner Config Used In This match.

I want to go after the sides of Sundancer since I feel that's where there is a high ground clearance enough to get right underneath and flip Sundancer over, I have the drivetrain and torque advantage to catch up with Sundancer, however, I must be weary of his deadly hammer, yes my armour can possibly manage a few blows but I do not want to risk geting hit by Sundancers weapon.

So I'll need to shoot out of the starting box and quickly go at an angle straight away in order for an attempt to get underneath, once i gathered enough momentum, go for the flip and keep on charging at Sundancer whilst toppled and slam it against the arena wall to give it some self righting issues. I do not want to give any oppertunity for Sundancer to use the hammer to hit me, so I'll carry on being agressive and give it hard time self righting.

Good luck and may the best robot win :).

Stats

Sundancer – 5 speed // 4 traction // 1 torque // 12+1 weapon // 8 armour (+2 plow)
Vs.
Instigator – 8 speed // 7+1 traction // 3 torque // 2 weapon // 10 armour (+1 plow)

Analysis

1) My weapon is +4 on his top armour (with +6 being a OHKO in the R4 scale), meaning that I’m going to be doing serious damage to him every time that I hit, especially to his sensitive tracks and their flimsy-looking armour covers. He’ll take some hits, but not too many. Meanwhile, his slow, two powered lifter shouldn’t really be able to do anything to me.

2) Nowhere in his description does it say that his side wedgelets are hinged, and they don’t look hinged to me either. My toothed plow should get under him easily, and as a 4-bar lifter, he won’t be able to press. Even if he does get under me, I have ample ground clearance and can’t be high-centered, so I’ll just j-hook away.

3) He obviously has the better drivetrain, but he’ll need to swing outwards, steer around, and then swing inwards, reorienting his front towards me when attacking. With mecanums, I won’t need to do any of those things. I can instantly move in any direction while keeping my weapon and its strike zone pointed at him. It should at least partially offset my slower speed.

Strategy

a. Come out aggressively, straight at him, strafing a bit to the side and swinging as soon as he’s in range. That’ll either cut off a flanking/angling attempt or give me a good shot at the guards that hug the tops of his tracks. 4 damage should be more than enough to dent those into the path of his tracks and hamper his mobility.

b. TBR’s probably going to try to angle in on my wedge teeth or maybe even flank me. No matter what, he’ll try to avoid my hammer’s strike zone. Strafe, circle strafe, and keep firing the hammer like it’s whack-a-mole to cut off his angles, keep him on the defensive, and deal damage.

c. If I compromise his mobility, up the aggression even more and avoid aiming for the tracks. Wedge, pin, and hammer away. Go for the kill.

d. J-hook away if wedged, self-right if flipped, don’t fall for baiting, avoid the hazards, and stay super aggressive.
