8 speed? Fuck. But hammer. He's got these rings holding up the weapon. Wonder what would happen if those got fucked up. This is always going to be a pretty slippery robot. So end it quickly. Drive forward. Keep him in front at all times. No point in flanking with these rules. I can reach over his drum before he can wedge me technically. And even when he gets under me slightly, I can still hit him. He can angle in or use gyro effects. I can still hit him. His forks are the other possible target. Take out those, and his drum is a goner. In which case lolgetrekt. Long story short, his forks beat my wedge, but: I have enough speed to keep him in front, there's so much surface I can hit, and I only need one shot. Don't stand too close to the hazards. If this fails then I'm going for a ride. Don't let it happen. Also did I mention that his drum will actually really struggle to flip me? Like, at all? 5 power is just really going to struggle. At the same time, he might knock me back a bit, so it gives me another chance to hit if I miss (if he's trying to fake me out, don't fall for it). And you know what? Even if he does get under my sides, I can still drive cause he's only eating skirt. Those little wedges on him won't have enough surface on them to lift the body much. If he's still knocking me about, be resilient. Get that one hit necessary to take it out. Can't avoid the hammer forever. Take a few steps forward and away from the hazards if I get too close but go straight towards Meanstreak after. If he turns off his drum and just tries to use the forks to control me, go for the hit. If he has me pinned and I can't hit him, fling around like a fucker with the hammer. That's bound to shake me loose. If I'm on the moving belts, drive off. Self right if flipped. Avoid the spikes as that may fuck up my drive. If he angles in, I should be able to hit him. But if he's really that tiny of a bot, turn a little so I can hit him. Good luck Laz. Stats Coupe de Grass – 5 speed // 5-1 traction // 1 torque // 12+1 weapon // 11 armour Vs. Meanstreak II – 8 speed // 8 traction // 2 torque // 5 weapon // 7 armour (+1 drum) Analysis 1) My drum’s 12 armour can resist his hammer, and he’ll have to aim and time his strikes very precisely to reach over it. Even if he does, the colourful flanges are sacrificial armour that take a bit of the force out of blows. 2) I have the drivetrain to confuse and outdrive him all-day and to play the baiting game successfully. Being a walker, he suffers a -1 traction bonus. He’s also very easy to high-center. 3) Drew always boasts about his skirts, but there’s no sign of them in the underside render in his signup post. The most likely reason is that they sit absolutely flush against his chassis. So I have to dig my wedges a half-inch deeper under him. Okay, no problem. Strategy a. He’s going to be super confident. At the start of the fight, start sideways, drum not running, and reverse out of the way as he starts to fire his hammer. Try to measure how long his stroke takes, recoil lasts, and eyeball his range. b. Make this fight mobile. Turn, juke, and attempt to flank, exploiting driving errors and his imperfect control. Keep him defensively turning to keep his hammer facing me, and maneuver the fight close to the spike hazards. c. Have you ever seen a power hammer try to swing while turning? Think about BB season 7 Chomp and beta. Most of the time, they’d end up either flipping or severely destabilizing themselves. Basically, I wanna get him firing his hammer while turning to keep up with me. I’m going to be perpetual motion. It should make him flop around like a fish. d. Whenever he’s unstable or suffering from recoil, use that opening to get around his side and high-center him. Drive him into the spike hazards if they’re nearby. Otherwise, pin him against the wall and let him flail. Each time it makes him jump, reposition and dig deeper beneath him. My drivetrain is good enough to keep him pinned. e. Release him before the pin timer so that I’m still at his side or back, and maintain that position. He doesn’t have the speed to get his front facing me. Come in again and pin. And again. Turn on the drum sometimes. f. His hammer is a Chekov’s Gun, but that doesn’t mean that he HAS to score a hit against a fast, well-prepared opponent. GL |
