I beat him last time even though he had a sound strategy and basically the only one that he could reasonably employ. Will Hellhound get wedged? Yes, it will. Will it stay wedged? No, it won't. Not only do I have better control, pushing power, and acceleration, I also have a lot of ground clearance (unlike either of his bots), can't be high-centered (unlike either of his bots), and he has no means of keeping me wedged. He has no stoppers. His bots are also half the weight of a normal robot, being halves of a cluster, so they're smaller and easier to just speedbump and can be reasonably pushed at a higher speed than I'd be able to push normal sized robots (which is 6 speed). Finally, if I hit him with the spikes on my plow, I apply six corner damage. He has six armour. According to the rules, this actually means that I'll be leaving small dents and dings in his armour, which should win me damage if this goes to the judges.

1) He'll probably try to be aggressive and use his numbers to flank and gang up on me. Whenever I'm wedged by one of them, I'll just reverse over its wedge or possibly turn/j-hook if he has me at an awkward angle. That'll put me at that half of the cluster's side or rear. Slam it as quickly as I can or feed ti to a hazard. Try to plow one into the other for control points. Heck, have one wedge the other and high center it if the opportunity arises. The major difference here is that I can escape very easily when they wedge me, but when I wedge them with those big sideguards, they're not going anywhere except where I want them to.

2) That said, I'm not going to focus on long-term control unless I somehow manage to get them both high centered (in that case, we're looking at a 30 second pin or the pit, if that's an option at that time). The other will always interrupt my attempts to steer the fight. I want to prioritize quick, impressive-looking slams (I'll be pushing with near-full speed) and hazard damage if the hazards are nearby. Hit them like a freight train.

3) If they open the pit and try to march me over there with one behind like last time, I'll let them get me most of the way there before reversing over the one to my rear (further from the pit), then punching it forward, wedging him, and shoving him into the pit. If I see the other one flanking particularly aggressively as I'm pitting its partner, then I'll break off the attack to avoid getting pitted myself and restart at a safe distance. In general, I'll let them do most of the work before squirming away and attempting to pit one of them, reversing most likely, but j-hooking or darting forward over a wedge if the exact situation calls for it. If it's towards the end of the fight and I'm clearly behind on points, then I'll try to open the pit myself.

4) If I manage to pit one of them or strand it on the fire grate (due to their nonexistent ground clearance) or against a wall, become significantly more aggressive. In the latter two cases, hound the remaining one with all that I've got and stop it from freeing its partner, and chuck it in the pit using my wedge climbing tactics. In the former case, the same applies, without having to worry about it freeing its partner.

5) Drive smart, stay aggressive, and adjust in the logical fashion to anything that he tries that isn't covered here or standard fare.

Good luck, Riley. You've come a long way.

Right. So. Knowing Laz, he's written an essay, so keeping this brief.

Hellhound can outdrive an individual Animal. There is no way around that. However, I obviously have two bots.

There is no way either of us can KO the other. Except the pit, however, he can just monster-truck me. Meaning, my only of securing victory involves just stopping him from doing what he wants: namely, opening the pit.

Do the normal split up shenanigans. Have Island go for the pit button. Not hit it, just wait over there. Have Ocean go for the centre of the arena. If Laz goes after Island, have Ocean just smash into his rear tyre, and try and throw him into the wall. Then, have Island come in as well, and pin him into the wall, and keep him there until the pin timer runs out. Then go back to the start position.

If he goes after Ocean, run over to the corner, and have Island loop around and slam him into the wall. Then, have Ocean come in as well, and pin him into the wall, and keep him there until the pin timer runs out. Then go back to the start position.

Good luck Laz, and may the best bot win.
