Tidal Wave II (Starting in the High Wall corner) Speed: 5 Traction: 4 Torque: 1 Weapon: 14 Armour: 6 Elrathia (Starting in the Low Wall corner) 6 speed 5 traction 1 torque 14 weapon 8 armour (+2 front plow) -------- Shields ON please. When we faced eachother in the group stages, it was written that Elrathia's hammer was unable to reach over my drum. This should still be the case, which means he has to get past my drum (or side shields) to damage me. Him getting to my sides is unlikely with only a 1 point speed difference and also considering hes a walker. Elrathia also still doesn't get a weapon armour bonus due to being a walker. Charge out of my square and start putting the pressure on immediately. If hes corner camping, hug the wall and drive right at him. He'll either have to move out of the corner or take a hit from my weapon whilst having his hammer blocked. Otherwise chase him down. He may try something like reversing and trying to jhook away to get to my sides. If this happens, carry on forward and take a wide arc around to avoid getting my sides hammered in. He'll want to avoid weapon to weapon hits, but try my best to force them. GLGL |

Our first fight: "Things go south for elrathia pretty fast , as Tidal wave quickly gets under, flips the walking hammer, and then follows up with some hits to the juicy underside. Your winner, by KO in 0:45, is Tidal Wave!" Notice that nothing was ever established regarding Elrathia's ability to hit TW's chassis over its drum. For some reason, I thought there had been, and I'm pretty sure that Hii does too. He'll want to go head to head. Elrathia was designed with this kind of fight in mind, which is why the hammer sits at the high point of the robot, its mechanism popping up and relatively unprotected. As a walker, it's also larger overall, which means that it's slightly taller than it would otherwise appear. This realistically means that its hammer will be firing from above at TW, giving it an advantageous angle. Then there's the kink in the middle, which helps it reach over obstacles even further, and the fact that the actual hammerhead is pretty long. That means that, if worse comes to worst, I should be able to reach over his drum and into the dip. Hopefully I won't have to. To start, I'll use his aggression against him by moving out from my starting area, and instead of baiting the normal way, showing him my side as he accelerates towards me and rapidly reversing out of the way (without leaving it dangerously late). Not only am I faster, but he has all of his weight in front of his drivetrain and serious gyro forces to deal with. Trying to suddenly turn after me and change the direction of his momentum will really mess him up and could cause him to flip over or at least gyrodance. If this leaves him exposed, take the shot. If it causes his drum to hit the floor, smother him. If it causes him to flip, then I have the better wedge and there's no dip in his underside, so get close where I can fire more safely, and kill. Basically, keep forcing him to keep up, turn, and miss, and not just pivot on the spot. If he takes his turns wide to avoid losing control, then mine will be tighter, increasing the effect of my drivetrain advantage and allowing me to straight up catch him at a safe angle. Then it's bombs away. He's going to be confident. Exploit that. One hit should kill his drivetrain or weapon if not outright KO him, while one hit from him will mangle my wedge or rip off my hammer head. If all of this fails, then just meet him h2h, time my swing to compensate for hammer travel time, and let the chips fall where they may. If we're both weaponless, his skids have almost zero reach, my hinged wedge will ride up a few degrees until it's against his drum, and we'll get a pushing match where I'm faster and weigh double. Good luck dude. |
