Black Dog: 6 speed / 4 traction / 1 torque / 14 weapon / 5 armor (+1 drum) Glitch: Speed: 6 / Traction: 5 / Torque: 2 / Weapon: 7 (flipper) / Weapon: 1 (lifter) / Armor: 9 (+5 front) To consider: -I had no chance of beating him weapon to weapon and lol crusher so I’m dusting off my third attachment! worth pointing out that it can OOTA on any wall, and can still press and all that jazz. -better control, better torque. Set-up: plow (w/ inset flipper), prongs ON. Strategy: wedge, OOTA. There’s gonna be three major obstacles for me here: 1)getting under him: if I press I lose like, half my traction (RB pressing nerf ain’t around in this tourney – worth pointing out since Laz’s acted like it was in past matches), but I can get under him much easier. He’s also relying on a set of thin forks to actually get under – easy angling in bait. 2)controlling him: exposed wheels, gyroing, he’ll try the lot. If I can slow his spinner down life will be easier, but there’s a few ways I could go here. -lift slightly to break traction/flip him if he does try and gyro or back off: this seems to be the best option, since I should be able to turn to keep up with him for the most part. -chaining flips: best if I just cant hold onto him: try and shuttle him to a wall with continued flips: I can even flip into his spinner if I want to thanks to my ridiculous armor up there. At any rate, the general goal is to OOTA him as quick as I can. 3)not getting hit: If he flips me or otherwise hits me away, he’s hitting the plow on the first hit, which has armor equal to his weapon power. If I am flipped, I have better control and torque so I should be able to stay away from him until I can right and reset the lifter. I want to avoid doing this a lot though, since my lifter is slow – contact should be careful and purposeful, and I can use my better drivetrain to help initiate contact that is favorable to me. So overall, just focus on not letting him get under, and keeping it near the OOTA walls (without getting trapped between him and them!) whenever possible. I am aware that this endangers me to losses on points and a chance OOTA on his part, but I’m willing to accept this because I feel this is the best way to guarantee a win – if it’s clear I can get under him consistently and might actually be able to dominate for the full 3 minutes regardless, then switch over to that. As usual, adjust to his strategies and don’t be a dumbass. Be especially cautious here. GL |

a) He'll try to OOTA me. b) He has a marginally better drivetrain, but this isn't your typical brick vs spinner. If I could repeatedly hit Corporate Interests, I can Glitch as well. He won't be able to just flank easily and at will, smother me, or take a considered approach, and running away to self-right if I flip him isn't gonna be viable (his lifter is SLOW and he only have two wheels on the ground and a weird weight distribution). c) I have the better wedge and he knows it. That means that a flanking attempt is incoming. Also, probably some baiting a flanking attempt. He'll try to angle in on my prongs. Gameplan I'm going to come out like a bat outta hell. He's by the low wall, and I can easily OOTA him there (and even barely on the high wall). He's not dumb enough to just sit there and take it, and he'll try to flank. Jam on the brakes just as I'm getting close. He's either gonna be stranded for a second at an angle, swinging out before turning in, or he's gonna be forced to back off and reset, in which case, I won't give him the time to do so. We'll be really close and I'll just plow forward again. If he presses instead, it's pretty easy to see with his design. I'll use the opportunity to angle around his plow and smack him. That might work for most bricks against most spinners, but there's usually at least a two point speed gap. We have the same speed. He has one more point of traction, yes, but when he presses, he sure as hell doesn't, and his lifter is going to be pretty slow to retract with only one point into it. Ideally, I wanna flank him or at least get to him from an angle, but if he's not pressing, I'll take a head-on attack as well. Tossing him over exposes his rear, and as anyone who's actually watched robotic combat will know, a bot that gets launched by a VS doesn't just settle instantly and cleanly back onto its wheels. Go full Aftershock vs THz on him and chain hits against his really soft (4 armour!) body. Even if my drum's not at full power, he's still getting absolutely mulched. Mostly, I want offense to be my defense. I don't want to give him the time to execute and well-planned strategies of maneuver the fight where he wants it in the arena. He'll want it near the edges so that he can OOTA me, obviously, so just don't go there unless I'm in control. If he wedges me, I have a really short chassis and am really slippery, can use gyro maneuvering (which I'll actually avoid for most of the fight because he'll be expecting it from me) and can't really be high-centered, so I'll j-hook off his wedge and into his side. Sure, he has a strong flipper, but it's crazy small and doesn't extend to the edge of his wedge. Just because he wedges me doesn't mean he's going to be able to use his weapon effectively, and I have the speed and build to get away and continue my own offense. If I get flipped, I'll have something on the ground, and I'll be able to turn away. Possibly gyro maneuver there, when he's eagerly trying to follow up and being less cautious. Go at him again to flip myself back over with the drum, but don't make it a straight head to head, so that he can't just drive forward and chain flips. Basically, just don't go where he wants me to go. Stay aggressive, drive smart, and go where I want to go in this fight. GL |
