The Lost Warrior

In this one I'll start with the jaws wide open, and come out carefully. My even 6 speed and traction will make outmaneuvering him extremely easy. My goal is to get to his rear and slide the bottom jaw under. This will cause his disc to hit the ground, sending him flying and doing heavy damage at the same time. I'll back off and then repeat the process, carefully avoiding his weapon. If I manage to get the disc stopped, or he gets stuck in my jaws rather than bouncing away, I'll clamp down, turn, and shove him into the wall under the pulverizer. I'll let the hammer pound away on him, further damaging his chassis and his weapon. I'll keep the match at my pace and win on strategy and control, or KO him with the hazards. Good luck and may the best bot win. |

The unforeseen consequences of ABC's Battlebots selection process: 1999: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots made from wheelchair parts and old tire rims; says I can do this. Hobby robotic combat is born. 2016: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots that look like they were designed by NASA engineers with DARPA funding; says I can't do this. Hobby robotic combat dies. | |

As is typical, I'll begin the match by doing whatever I can to keep my disc facing him, especially in the early going. He's only two points faster than me, so that's not impossible by any means. I'll move out a little bit, get my disc up to speed and watch to see what he does. If he rushes, I just have to look out for any last second moves off to the side, and I might even get lucky and catch him off guard. If he comes out slow, then it's just a matter of matching him move for move, and being on the defensive makes that easier, as I have a much smaller radius to cover. Either way, at some point he'll come in and make his move on me, and I want to greet him with the disc. He has fairly decent armor, but if my disc is making contact with his weapon, it will put a lot of stress on his clamper, and eventually might knock it out alltogether. I'll keep playing defensive as long as he is still in good shape. If, at some point, he starts really wearing down, I think it will be safe to get more aggressvie in my attacking, but until that point, keeping my disc facing him is top priority. Good Luck! |
