Two seasoned vets here who have undergone major changes over their histories. John invested a lot into the armor with this bot, which unfortunately for him, won't play a major role in this match. I will spin up and rush him immediately. I won't even bother trying to get around to his sides because of the hammer being rotational. However, if I box rush him, he won't have much time to time a good shot on me. In return, I'll hopefully be able to slam him to the wall hard and get the treads in to grind a little bit. Despite his good armor, they should still send sparks flying a bit. When I am under him, take him to the wall and send him to the hammers. Once again, I am not trying to KO him but, when it comes to scoring, he'll still get trashed in the damage category assuming I can take him there enough times. After that, repeat the process again. If I don't get under him, at least I should fly up his body a bit and maybe land at a more vulenrable spot. Hopefully with enough toying around and moving carefully away from his hammer, I can get under him from another side. All in all, I think as long as I can get under him often enough, he won't be able to do much with his hammer and I'll be able to score aggression and damage points simultaneously by slamming him around. Good luck. |

For this match I'm going to focus on destroying his weapon. His bot is very wide and flat, presenting an awesome target for my axe. With any luck, my wedges will be lower and he'll drive up my side. If not, I'll use my turret, axe, and drive wheels to make myself as hard to control as possible. I want to swing the hammer at him at every opportunity. Those treads should be easy for my axe to cleave through, and the fact that they are moving may shred them even more. I hope to maybe jam them up under him to stifle his mobility, or just plain tear them off for big damage points. Once again, try to avoid being controlled, and use the axe to wreck his weapons. Good luck and may the best bot win. |

The unforeseen consequences of ABC's Battlebots selection process: 1999: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots made from wheelchair parts and old tire rims; says I can do this. Hobby robotic combat is born. 2016: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots that look like they were designed by NASA engineers with DARPA funding; says I can't do this. Hobby robotic combat dies. | |
