I personally think you should use Paratrap.

There's a room where the light won't find you...
I'm toying with the idea of doing another Broken Wings as part of my contribution to Kody's and Tracy's team - the original I think had a sound design but was let down by speed, and over many (?) hours (??) of frenzied designing on the walk to college the other day I had a few thoughts about increasing the speed while using non-statistical devices like vacuums and magnets to increase the traction. The 9 ceiling for walkers ultimately limits me though, so if I want to win more than two fights I *might* have to look elsewhere...most of the walkers I've seen in ARC seem to have been spinners, I suspect I am coming up against the reasons for that :P

I've got a few backup ideas in case I can't work that out competitively though - if the worst comes to the worst I might just enter a giant Jigsaw, heh...

Has anyone got any broader thoughts on the issue of walkers and speed/traction/weaponry?

FF Plans are to come up with my lineup when the tourney's signups restart. Might use some of the designs I got from Nick since I have their pics again.

Scarab's redesign. Not sure when I'm going to use him, but if another ARC comes up I might chuck him in there.

Vertical beater stays, but Scarab now has angled tracks. These should be able to give him at least a bit of easier turning.

I like the angled tracks, I have a similar design in the works.
The unforeseen consequences of ABC's Battlebots selection process:

1999: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots made from wheelchair parts and old tire rims; says I can do this. Hobby robotic combat is born.

2016: Shadetree tinkerer sees combat robots that look like they were designed by NASA engineers with DARPA funding; says I can't do this. Hobby robotic combat dies.

If I enter another game I'm bringing in new designs for sure. I already got 2 ideas. For starters I may bring in a robot called Groin Trauma. My second robot I think I'm gonna call The Garbage Man. Not sure though. Just brain storming...

Looking pretty sweet. Angled tracks are an interesting touch, too. Can't see the point of the yellow spikes much, though.

So you may not be leaving this game after all DRD?

For your own health and that of everyone on the board, I wish to repeat the advice I gave you to for every single bot you make decide whether the machine is a competitive one or a "fun/interesting/experimental" one, and if it falls into the last category, dont feel bad when that machine does bad.

What did you have in mind for Groin Trauma and Garbage Man?

Kody, I told you about Scarab, it looks top notch but the Scarab machine never appealed to me personally that much, you better bring back the Shadow Zone with flipper!

I do remember seeing Pepperdine somewhere in the CAD Archives on the main site. I like the look of that, though.

I would add some sort of stability in the front to brace yourself against the floor. If you were to suddenly floor the drive in reverse, especially with the rounded shape of the tracks, you'd tip right over and the blade would hit the floor.

Here's a couple new things

Posted Image

New paint, wheels, and anti-spinner attachment. Blood Thirsty could have won if not for spinners, and I won't let that happen again.

And this is a new idea for a LW. Big spinning death blades
