After FF: ND The Servant will get a makeover (LOL fashion creeps it's way into ARC) I did make a replacement bot called, The Servant's assistant, but now im not so sure  You guys need a confused or WTF smiley (Or the one that Alex showed us)

Dr Thwack Evo will have to live with hight expectations as im calling it the "AMP of the HW's"

Ive decided to use Curse of The Deep as a SHW in FF:ND

MW's im not sure. Merry Hampton EVO should go in. But i might give (Even though it's still not got FRA stats) Scoopatron. On 2nd thoughts. Scoopatron it is.

That's all for now :)

I meant for bots in ARC like popups.

I'm going to do my best to help you understand this once and for all; here goes.

I don't know how familiar you are with physics, so I'll start out simple. If you go to a public school that's actually worth going to, then the first lesson you likely had in true physics involved the "high heel" story. The story is popular for elementary and middle school teachers and basicly states that a petit woman wearing high heels exerts more pressure on the ground than and elephant. The reason being that the elephant's feet spread the weight over a large surface area, where as all of the woman's weight presses on 2 very small points. This means that the woman's contact with the ground has a greater amount of pounds per square inch. This is the exact same reason a 9 pound pick axe will dig into the ground, but a 9 pound sledge hammer will bounce off. RA2 however can not recreate this, so the damage is simply cumulative. That means that if one spike does X damage then 2 spikes do X damage times 2. In real life you have the exact opposite, where 2 spikes double impact surface area and thus cut the penetration potential in half. This is why Rammstein, Gray Matter, Fusion, and Rhino all have only one spike instead of a rack of them.

Now we move on to kinetic and potential energy. An object at rest has potential energy only which is related to the object's mass. That potential energy converts to kinetic energy as the object increases in speed. The higher the speed, the greater the kinetic energy (provided the object still has enough mass to continue the conversion). Now aside from the cumulative damage problem, RA2 seems to have done well with KE as it relates to ROTATING objects. What they failed at however was pistons and "burst motors" (not real by the way). With these, they do the exact same damage at any point along their stroke. The problem with that is called Newton's Laws. Primarily the one that states an object at rest will tend to stay at rest. No matter how fast something appears to move, it still must accelerate first. There's no such thing as a 0-60 in 0.0. For example, a 5.56mm bullet takes almost a full second to travel its first 100 meters, but only a fraction of a second to travel from 100 to 300 meters where it develops maximum kinetic energy (the tiny 77 grain round hits with the force of a point blank .44 Magnum at 300 meters). For that reason, a reasonable stand off is required from the beginning of the weapon's stroke to the impact point. You may notice that Rammstein and Rhino's weapons penetrate their opponents at a distance but when fired at close range only push them away. Another example is how axe bots that fire a full 180 degrees rather than a 90 degree arc do much more damage.

Now, combining both of these facts makes a pop-up type bot nearly impossible and highly impractical in real life. For one, the basic idea of a pop-up has multiple weapons firing as one, which would completely negate the potential damage of a single weapon. So if you made it a single weapon, the second problem comes into play. For it to do any damage it requires a stand-off distance. If it simply folded into the top of the bot it would just do the exact same thing as Firestorm, just not as good. For you to be able to fit the moving parts and still have that stand-off, it would require an extremely tall bot with a high angled wedge. We're talking comparable to LaMachine or Punjar. These bots were only effective when the average ground clearance of their opponents would allow a bot like Peanut or Thinferno to drive under them and out the other side without hitting anything.

Or you can drop this ridiculous subject and accept that we'll classify anything you enter as either a lifter or a flipper. This is regardless of the medium of lifting/flipping (arm, wedge, spike, spatula, fun-noodle).

I am soooo making my next lifter bot's lifter out of a fun-noodle. It'll be powered 2, so I can put the rest of the stats into drive and armor to make it not completely horrendous.
There are few crimes in our modern society that merit public beating. Interrupting someone's enjoyment of Messiah to request "Jingle Bells" by the Singing Dogs is irrefutably one such offense.

My new SHW for ARC unless I get really bored and redesign yet again.

Sidewinder - Fast low rammer with locking mecanum drive wheels and a 4-bar pneumatic flipper/launcher. The front of the fame is empty to act as a "crush zone" against spinners. The front armor also allows this by acting as a crush zone at the point where the 3/8" titanium shields meet the 1/4" diamond plate steel top armor. The front/side shields are mounted on rubber bushings while the top is hard mounted to the 1.5" tubular steel frame. The flipping arm is 1/2" titanium and has a spring steel nose plate.
Posted Image

Here it is with the flipper fired. The rear link has a sliding attachment point that allows the flipper to raise fully and then slam forward with full force.
Posted Image

Here's the rear, not much to see.
Posted Image

Here's the bot with all the armor stripped off so you can see the inside. Four military/industrial grade right angle motors driving custom mecanum wheels. The wheels are a combination of two designs. The locking mechanism was designed by an aerospace company and uses a solenoid to lock a set of brake pins. When locked, the wheels behave like normal tires with no loss of traction. The rollers were designed by a FIRST team to allow a bot to strafe up an inclined surface without getting stuck. The bot is normally in standard 4WD operation but can be unlocked and strafe against a fast opponent. The motors run on 48V from a pair of custom air cooled NiMh packs (one pair per side). The entire electonics package and weapon valve are secured in a shock isolated titanium box under the rear of the flipper for maximum protection. The weapon uses a single large bore, short stroke pneumatic cylinder. The cylinder drives a bell-crank system liked to the flipping arm. Feeding the weapon is a CO2 system that consists of two large supply tanks and four buffer tanks. The supply tanks hold liquid CO2. When the system pressure drops due to using the weapon, some of the liquid flashes to gas and repressurizes the buffer tanks. This ensures that the flipper has full power as long as there is still liquid in the tanks.

Here's the raw frame before any component mounting. Note the pivot points for the rear arm link and cylinder. The bottom armor and inner walls are welded into the frame for increased rigidity and easier mounting.

Not enough detail. Try again.

Here's the more or less finished version... Improved nose plate with a partially hinged lip and additional shock mounting in the front.

This is the inside. As you can see most of the details have been ironed out. I haven't decided yet if I want to undertake the mind-numbingly tedious task of making all the wiring.

MW: Y-Combat

I'm officially calling that bot La Negra Muerte. :P

As for me I have most of my lineup set as well.

LW: to be decided... I have some plans, but I promise it won't be Zombie Killer again.
MW: Sarge (version 4, this time he might be good)
HW: Revolver Ocelot
SHW: Tali'Zorah (I'm looking forward to finally being able to try out this design).

I should go 3-1 this week but it'll probably be something like 0-4 or 0-5.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

The best ripoff of all time, lol.

As for the season after that(Note: These depend on how my current team do. This is what I'd use for a totally new team):

LW: May use that thing I got from John. You know, Talon
MW: If Tetris was bad, then The Clones That Weren't There should be even worse, right?
HW: Might use the former Yakety Axe I got from Nick. I'll give it the most imaginative name ever: Pickaxe.
SHW: Megaroll, a design based off of a real design that's now different from this. Originally a featherweight, and yes, it does have a top panel.

My final team

LW- The Servant. AKA (I think) the only bot not to be KO'ed last season
MW- Hammer& Nailz 2 (Or 3 if i can get a CAD done in time)
HW- Dr Thwack EVO
SHW- Could someone CAD my new design the Green Curse? It's a wedge on the front. A sort of compact body and a Half cylindrical back. It will be green (Duh) invertable(4WD) with a 4-bar flipper. If not CADded in time, Curse of the Deep it is :)

Great... 3/4 of your designs are already used(Hammer and Nails wasn't that successful) and Dr. Thwack Evo isn't invertible. Not trying to be rude, just a bit of trash talking.

Its gonna take ALOT to get under Dr Thwack EVO.... it still has skirts which are now much harder to rip off, if you can get them off. you'll sustain a bit of damage

The Servant will stay cos it will last at least 6 more ARC's

Hammer & Nailz 3 is in the works so stay tuned on you forum Mark. If i have a designers block then i might send in Smashy Smashy to have a CAD and then take on ARC

No Joy, now at what I'll call 90% completion because I'll either change the rear component or come up with additional ones.

Posted Image

As you can see the Jaws have been slightly retooled and now have improved actuators. The actuators are single stage worm drive units, meaning less moving parts to break. They also have new rare earth magnet motors for the same power in a lighter package. The front armor has also been enlarged and mounted to the outside of the frame for improved deflection and increased room for the batteries.

Posted Image

For now the rear attachment remains the same; a thwack/wedge/keep-away tail. The jaws are seen here with the top jaw completely open. With both open the jaws articulate to a full 80 degrees and can overbite to 20 degrees.

Posted Image

This view shows the internal layout. The gearboxes are mounted with the outer frame in between them for maximum stability and durability. Each side contains a drive motor, 3 12V battery packs, and 2 ESCs. The 2 ESC's control that side's drive motor and one of the two jaw actuators. Two of the battery packs are wired in series to power the drive motor at 24V, while the other pack powers one of the actuators. The components are mounted as low as possible to improve the center of gravity and to allow some dead space below the top armor, protecting against overhead attacks.
