3 championships, one of which (goofy A:Nad) was a complete joke, and Zombie Killer's was pretty much gift-wrapped thanks to Dylan FF'ing with Underall.  Balls.

Then again, I guess this doesn't take into account all the side tournaments I won that aren't in the CFL database (which would give ToC something like four championships lolz).

Thanks for making me feel bad about my CFL record again Alex.

didn't AI NAD have a stat that basically said how low your wedge was? and some guy just stacked all of his points into that and armor

I dunno. I just remember that pretty much all of ToC's fights lasted roughly 30 seconds, and were just him flipping the opponent out of the arena and Sarge lost to a bot that didn't even have full stat allocation (which is even funnier now). How the hell did that tourny end up on the CFL database anyway?

i have no idea. i think we wanted to get more side tournaments related to ARC but AI was a bit of a joke.

now that you bring that bit up, i was thinking about OOTA's the other day, thinking that it was a cool way to encourage flippers, but ultimately for a fantasy league it ends up in the same realm as the pit. some kind of instant kill mechanism is just too much for the league. either we'd have to make OOTA's extremely difficult or not have them at all.

Meh, I was never crazy about OOTA finishes in the same way I've never liked Pits. With OOTA, there's far too much subjectivity to how likely it is to occur. As a staff now, we all have our own diverse styles and limitations for bots, and it would just cause too many problems.

I should go 3-1 this week but it'll probably be something like 0-4 or 0-5.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.

Yeah, I think Rascal probably also holds the record for most LOSSES by a 23-22 split decision too.  lol

um, haha, you actually do. Rascal has lost 6 times by a 23-22 split decision, right ahead of (or behind) Shockwave (5) and Celestial Slayer (5)

At least you never lost by a split 23-22 THREE TIMES in a single season. I apparently had that shit happen to me twice haha

No, but it's felt pretty damn close, and it came last season at the worst possible time: when ALL THREE of my fricken Post-season bots got bounced out. Law of averages, my ass.

And I still think we shouldn't include AI:NAD.... a loud and whiny enough complaining beotch gets a result RE-FRICKEN-WRITTEN so that the win is handed to him, even when his RP sucked ass.

hahaha you want to tell me about post-season losses? ARC: Reckoning was probably my best season ever, I think I was the first guy to break 30 wins in a season. Eurypterus goes undefeated, Force Feedback nearly does the same, two byes and Windmill.

bam, exit stage right Posted Image

At this point the only thing removing AI NAD would change is knocking ToC outta the top 10 lol

Yeah, I was just so upset though because I think it was the first time since forever I got 3 bots to post-season.... I thought I would FINALLY have an ARC title, and I was having a blast visiting my woman in BC besides, and then.... fuck, and not the good kind.

lol, honestly when i was going through the championships records saw that you had 5 trophies i was about to pull those quote out

Quote:

Traci: Rough post-season for you, huh?

Dan: It is. But hey, two bots in the Finals. That’s a great start.

Traci: That’s true. In fact, Philip Bergman’s first ARC season saw him lose twice in the Finals, and look how many ARC championships he has now!

Dan: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

and be all like "what philip can't complain he's got five trophies" and then i realize you specified ARC championships lol

Yeah I know what that's like. I had 3 bots as the #1 seed last season, and two of them get tossed right away, and the other just squeaking by only to get made a fool out of in the finals. Hell I can barely hang my hat on Zombie Killer's championship since I pretty much owe that to Dylan FF'ing out with Underall.

Here's a good look into what designs work:

Champions as divided by design:

Rammer (Zombie Killer, Tank, etc.)
16

Horizontal Spinner / FBS (Japanese School Girl, AMP etc.)
12

Lifter (Barrier, S.W.A.T, etc.)
7

Thwack (The Thwacking Head, Thwedge, etc.)
5

Clamper (Road Rage, Shockwave, etc.)
4

Vertical Spinner (Celestial Slayer, DeadStar, etc.)
3

Punchbot/Ramming-bar (Solar Smash, Force Feedback, etc.)
3

Flipper (Truth or Conseuqences, Taurus, etc.)
3

Hammer (Long Shot, Adrenaline, etc.)
1

Other (These are unclassifiable robots. Warper, Striker, and "Goodbye" etc.)
2

And these are Runners-up + Semi-finalists for comparison:

Horizontal Spinner / FBS
24

Rammer
22

Lifter
11

Thwack
9

Flipper

if solar smash or jack frost won another title, then not only would Chris have a grand slam (champion in each weight class) but he'd have repeat champions in every weight class

EDIT: scratch that, I forgot to add Fantasy Fury. Celestial Slayer, Barrier, Striker, and Reflector Shield make up Chris's repeat champions in every weight class (also Dark Side of Cupid)

I almost forgot to check this shit out. Maybe now that I officially have 13 titles, I'm finally unlucky?

And it would also be nice if Solar Smash could win this season, so that my team has officially come full circle (since he won the first ever tourney) and then the last ever tourney.

However, I completely understand if you guys would rather lop off my head than hand me another championship.

no one's handing you anything :P if you want to go full circle you're going to have to go through everyone to get there

Bozenda was removed during Reckoning, Astrobot wasn't there for Revolution, Astrodude wasn't there for Redemption, Giguere (a previous award) was brought back in Reckoning, and Japanese School Girl was started in Reckoning. Toxic Hazard Award wasn't used from Reckoning onward, and the Underminer Award wasn't there for Revolution. Intergalactic Award also got removed from Reckoning onwards. There wasn't a Aftermath award, but at sometime I'll posthumously award it I suppose.

I think I'm part of the reason why we no longer use the Toxic Hazard award... Or the "Sucks to be you" award as it was called in the past... After winning it 3 seasons in a row I think I blew a short fuse.

haha, kinda. When we were looking at awards to be changed we felt like the "sucks to be you" factor belittled the rest of the awards, and obviously no one wanted it.

Just because you've never won it... :dawg:

I do like the name myself (I came up with it lol), but I'm fairly curious as to what else you'd call it. The penmanship award? lol

I myself never cared for the Japanese School Girl Award since it's a bit of a mouthful and sounds pretty dumb, like we're awarding the prettiest Japanese school girl. I would still it rather have been the AMP Award, especially considering AMP does hold the record for most knockouts at 18.

Kiss my ass Alex. Like I need reminding that I'm apparently consistently in the lower-tier of RP'ers. :v:

Seriously though, I think it's more to do with the implications of the name. Essayist would seem to imply that people who write novel-length RP's are favored to win it, regardless of content. I would have said something along the lines of "strategist award", but whatever.
