Kody, just RP for Heretic, even if it's only throwing something perfunctory out there. It's a failed design as it stands now, but hey, it's still ranking points, and you'll beat Crazy Lobster with ease, obviously (lots of offense, Steve).

On the bright side though, I'm satisfied to have at least pulled off the win against Firebird. It was closer than I thought it'd be, so credit where it's due to Firebird for that- and that crazy kamikaze dive TD2M pulled off right at the end was brilliant. :P

Aaahaha. I guess if Firebird's gonna go out, than TD2M pulling a Killer Kranky is the best way to do it. Especially given the location of the arena.

Personally, I'd consider it more the Firestorm approach, myself- charging off the side with it in an all-or-nothing suicide dive rather than waiting and then dragging him over when he got too close to the edge. Though if it gets me that and an everlasting supply of Pepsi Max in the ARCterlife, then that's pretty good either way. :P

In all seriousness though, it was a very enjoyable match, so thanks and commiserations for it- Firebird's definitely a good machine, so hopefully we'll see it back again sometime.

Somehow, I have, though with that POS Bastille losing, the streak ends at three, and with that POS EF coming up, I'm not likely to add a fourth.

Honestly, I think it's been my willingness to use square jumping as a tactic that's really done it.

Anyway, sorry for all of the delays and errors. I've had 2 computers blue screen and crash on me in the past week (one irretrievably) and it's been hard to keep up. Hopefully week ten will go smoothly. Week 8 results are all up (that TD2M vs Firebird match was a close one - I actually asked for second opinions on it), and Kody saw Nick's tactic coming from a mile away in the other big match. Here's hoping for an awesome week 9 and 10!

Also, Firebird should pick up an FF win this week, so it has a chance at making the playoffs depending on the Bolt Thrower vs CP match.

I'm incredibly happy with Vesta's performance. I had no idea if the whip-hammer was even going to work. Clearly, it does if she's got the Top Spot in the division locked away. Very nice. :)

Ultraviolence... eh. I'd say I was happy but he performed as expected since he didn't have many hard bots, and got many FFs. Circuit Breaker was the hardest fight he had and that was... eh. The real hard matches are coming up. :V

Pallas is a cutie. Also, hugs. No more need be said.

Ceres is also a cutie. Where's that HRR "result" Spatula?!

I also swore I had a fifth bot but I don't know what happened to it.

I'm a little surprised Neon Rainbow and Tidal Wave are going into the final week undefeated, but I'm glad I've finally managed some competitive designs.
Remi was a bit of a letdown, might have to figure a new MW design for future tournaments.
Bass Drop is as lulzy as ever and while I don't think I'll be entering it in its current iteration again, I have a planned new version for R4.
Lifter 2 has already been redesigned and entered into The Mean Streets as well as NARCO, hopefully the new version will do better.

I'll do this team evaluation thing too.

Howler II, despite some minor issues, has performed quite well and clinched a bye, and I'll be moving forward with and refining that design in the future. Fingers crossed for it s performance in the playoffs.

Mordor has really outperformed my expectations, which probably says more about how the melty-HS rules need to be looked at some more. It HAS been a lot of fun to RP.

Seadevil has also largely performed better than expected, but there are some warning signs and I'm still skeptical of it as a real contender. With some adjustments, it could be really good, I suppose.

Bastille is a POS that's by and large gotten lucky and lost the one matchup that it was specifically designed to win. I'm pretty much done with it after this tournament.

EF is garbage. It's won by an FF, beaten a joke bot and another snake, and lost to the only half-decent thing that it's faced. I doubt snakes have any place in the meta going forward.

Meh, why not.
Backstab was meant to be a true contender, but ended up being lulzy with all those flaws. Too bad I never got to use the spikes :(

Psychotic Brick has done decently, though I still don't know the answer to the question of whether or not it has 9 speed (like it did against Debilitator) or 5 speed (like in the LW tag team). Rambots ftw XD. It could finally use it's hinged wedge attachment properly if it does make the playoffs. I'd be happy if it does make it, but I don't have much faith. Gotta find a way to take out Dumbo first

Flip City Remix has a playoff contention on the line. Gabe, why must you get all of FCR's matches :v: With some changes in the design, it could do very well. In fact, the new version (Flip City Frequency) is already much better than this design (It can has a self righting mechanism. Yay!)Probably not going to win in week 9, but it's still a great start to this design.

Book of Carnage is the opposite of Backstab. Was lulz, and is going to the playoffs. I'm done. The legendary story of the Book lives on. Why is it winning stuff? :v: But in all seriousness, I'll take it. Who knows? It could actually make the quarter finals with luck. We'll see how it goes. If it dies in the first round, keep an eye out for Book 2 in the near future :P

The original Endgame would be proud. Full body deathspinner with a chance of claiming the top spot in the division. Who knew? I can actually see this possibly, narrowly winning the whole thing, but its going to take a lot of sheer dumb luck and a gross amount of RPing. I'm not expecting it to make the finals, but I wouldn't rule it out either

Xerxes has been performing to expectations, really quite happy with how the design and stats are performing

Captain trips is boring and dependable, as expected

Visual assault has been fun as well, though not as enjoyable to RP as I would have liked tbh...

36's unbeaten streak is showcasing the exact problems I am having with the walker stat system as it stands

Bandwagon Time!

Firebird has generally been pretty awful, in large part due to the matchups and arenas it's had. It's a good design for facing spinners (aside from obnoxious deathspinners), and it would probably perform better in something like the standard ARC arena, but the combination of several very fast opponents and arenas where restricted maneuverability or easy OOTAs are a factor have made its life very difficult. Still, I'll be very sad if I don't make the playoffs with it, because there are so bots I really want to tear a new one.

Scylla has at least managed to go 2-2, but I think Dat Pup forfeited, and Phobos Anomaly was, with all due respect to NWOWWE, a multibot with "multi-stat-dependent" weaponry, and incredibly vulnerable to Scylla's design. OTOH, I also got an incredibly bad draw in the first round: Melties are inherently extremely difficult for a crusher to fight. Exotherm could've gone either way, but my decision to go with mid-wheel drive has hurt me. A simple spring-loaded rear tail like Aphelion's might have helped, though.

Sekhmet, despite losing three matches, actually hasn't disappointed me too much. Two of my losses were by split decision, leaving me with enough points to still make the playoffs if I beat Flip City Remix. I'm disappointed in the Thallium match, since I kinda screwed myself over by not thinking about the potential to use the ramps cleverly, but ripping a wheel off Crash Blossom was pretty cool. And the other loss was to Monsterworks, although I think if we'd been in an arena that gave Sekhmet more room to maneuver I might have done better. Still, while I like Sekhmet's design, it probably wasn't the best for Cherry Bomb Classic: its strong front wedge is great for going head-to-head with other spinners, but in CBC's arenas the weak armor on the rest of the chassis has been a serious liability against robots which can use the hazards and house robots against me.

Funerary Precession has so far performed beautifully. This was kind of a silly idea to attempt to build a walking deathspinner that wasn't an obvious exploit of the weight bonus, and I thought it would spend most of its time bouncing itself around/out of the arena, but instead it's KOed every single opponent so far... that I actually RPed against. This includes TVC and Turbolulz, both of which are scary machines.

YOU DIED has pretty much done everything I wanted it to, aside from losing to Viluy II in a close match. However, so far it's only fought spinners and whatever the hell Stevomobile is: it hasn't been tested in battle against other fast-moving control-oriented bots. But the design has a lot in common with Compound Fracture, which has done extremely well against control bots. YOU DIED isn't as difficult to push around as CF and it does need to self-right, but its Sif and Smough configurations should be a lot more effective at pinning and controlling slippery opponents than CF's lifter.

Tyrian: Doing OK, slightly above expectations, but I do have a mk2 version waiting in the wings, which solves a few of it's problems.

Sleipnir: You can't spinner-kill, when there are no spinners to kill. Again Mk2 version is ready, and will probably be my Challenge Belt entry.

Cerberus: I'm not sure where this went wrong. It's decently powerful. Probably just my RP's need to be not awful.

All right. Seeing as everyone else is doing them, I'll do a quick overview of each of my machines so far-

Torque Dirty 2 Me
For my first Featherweight on ARC, I have to say that this one's been fantastic. It's won every fight so far, and it's generally been considered to be a very real contender for the title. Which hopefully it can pull off- to match its cardboard predecessor doing the same thing against other cardboard machines, and ideally not getting chucked around by Rip 2 along the way this time. :v:

Spy vs. Spy
Kinda hard to tell, with this one. I liked the design, and for my first clusterbots, they've done alright, but the problem is that they suffer too much from the recurring problems with multibots (lacklustre drive/armour, easily shoved around), and the performances tended to be quite hit-and-miss. Like, sometimes they'd do very well, but other times they'd just get mullered. So for bringing them back or at least doing more multibots, it's a maybe at this point. Just wish there was a way to do multibots without losing so many stat points in the process.

Rainbow in the Dark
Although this one was new-ish, it was slightly disappointing to see that the speed-traction difference on this one fucked it over as much as it did, especially against guys like Hugh Mungus and Rake Against The Machine. On the bright side though, it has performed well when I've managed to keep it under control (especially with the win over Harbinger, who I initially thought would slaughter it), so if I can tweak the drive and a few other things, it should come back some time. The lighting on it was very good as well, I thought- ain't no one going to criticise this one for a lack of colour, at least. :P

Terminal Velocity Classic
Again, this one proved to be very hit-and-miss in the arena. It's fantastic when it performs well (especially when it took down Turbolulz and Book of Carnage), but the problem with it is that it's just too lacking in drive power at the moment in favour of having a ridiculously-strong flipper, which I think has cost it considerably here. Plus, it's quite disappointing as well that I still haven't yet managed to flip a house robot with it, which I was hoping I'd be able to do. I'll bring it back for certain, but I'll probably tone down the weapon strength a little and give it the sufficient drive to keep up with the faster robots in the field.

Uridium
So this one was another one that worked well in some respects but not others. Although the low hammer power has really let it down (especially with the loss to XIII), it's done well in other fights- like winning the Axe Annihilation and the fights against Bonzi Buddy and Lifter 2- and the omniwheels have certainly been interesting to work with. As for bringing it back, I'll probably want to think hard about how to sufficiently improve it to stay competitive (a more powerful hammer is needed without a doubt, though), but it's fairly likely that I will.

THE VERDICT SO FAR
So, overall? It's been mostly quite middle-of-the-road in the terms of my robots' performance, and I've had both some good wins and some bad losses along the way. Torque Dirty's been fantastic though, and all of my team are going to be considered for bringing back at some point, so one major success and no particularly massive failures (compared to when I usually have one straggler) is quite good overall. Could be better of course, but it's solid enough at the moment.

Since an Overview is becoming a thing I might as well do it myself.

Chewer

This little fella has been the biggest surprise package for me, it's almost like a Leicester feel to it. he has performed as I wanted him to do which has worked pretty well, I didn't expect him to beat Heretic, Gaster Howler II was too strong for him some maybe there can be a few adjustments, Crazy Lobster was the easiest opponent for him, whilst Teacup Tempest is like Howler II except a different shape.

If Chewer can beat TT I can see him being a dark horse.

Mecha-Mouse

Once I found out that MM's spinning bar weapon was not strong enough to be threatening, the mouse woukd be caught on a mousetrap and sadly this was the case. I lost confidence with the robot itself and was not too fond as to how well it did in this tournament. Straight to retirement for this mouse. The first of the flops.

Precise Saunter

For a walker as a MW, I was really happy that it tried it's best but PS has a very good future ahead of him,I'll start planning on the concept designs for PS II. A completely new shape and less box, probably a unique chassis shape, The legs would possibly be replaced with some Shufflers to help gain some good locomotion. I'll give PS another chance.

Laceration

Had potential but immediately I really disliked the way I've designed this "thing", he was only a test bot to see how effective the main weapon was, immediately Laceration will retire after one tournament.

Steelvor

For a reserve machine that's been in the shed for nearly 5 months, the swamp beast from the scrapheap has become a fearsome monster, currently unbeaten it's certainly scared his opponents from the group showing good flipping capabilities. Steelvor has potential to become an even strnger menance but I'd like to see how for this reserve design will do, nobody has tamed the beast yet, but we'll see :).
