...fuck. Asides from that win with TD2M, this was just a crap week overall. 2 KOs, and a first-round loss in the Tag Team (in the other weight division besides the FW I felt I could do well in) to a flat-sided walker, of all machines. At this point, I may as well just give up and go home.

I kinda feel the same way. RPing for my FW/LW is pretty much useless. |

Steve, you'd have won that fight if you RPed on time. deadline's 12:00 AM ESt every Saturday. If you look through the RP room and don't see a thread for your bot, just consult the Cherry Bomb Classic Fight Card & Writing Assignments post, find your matchup, and post it, just like on Reddit. Krab Killer actually has a good shot at the playoffs, and Krill Swarm isn't dead yet. Also, this gangbang of Dylan is stupid. Yeah, the "we're a team in name only. You do everything" shit was annoying, but not worth all of this BS. It's imaginary combat robots online. That's all I've got to say. Kody, just RP for Heretic, even if it's only throwing something perfunctory out there. It's a failed design as it stands now, but hey, it's still ranking points, and you'll beat Crazy Lobster with ease, obviously (lots of offense, Steve). As I see it, Alex, you have two bots that should make the playoffs: TD2M and TVC. SvS will probably make it, RiTD has a shot but is far from a shoe-in, and Uridium is just underpowered. The Tag Team loss was because the walker actually had a solid drivetrain, shit-tons of armour, and could OHKO both of your bots. RitD has a guaranteed win in week five, so basically, it all comes down to next week. TVC has two winnable matches, and if it takes even one, it's probably in. Uridium's had a tough schedule, but it has a guaranteed week five win and a key matchup next week. SvS is still sittoing pretty on two wins, but even if it loses to Mordor next week, it has CopyOfCopyOfCopy in week five and, at 3-2, will be hard pressed to NOT make the playoffs. TD2M has its big matchups coming up now, and should realistically go either 2-0 or 1-1. Overall, the picture's not half as bleak as you're painting it. Yeah Danielle, your FW and LW aren't your best bots, but throwing something up there each week to avoid an FF and pick up those ten ranking points each is still worth it. Holy what. I don't want to know what I missed. Anyway... "You know what I should try? A flywheel-powered crusher!" I said. "It'll be totally awesome!" I said. I am not a clever man. At least Chernabog has decent armor. ...and yet somehow Scylla actually has a better chance at the playoffs than Sekhmet since Crash Blossom is probably going to Roflstomp me. On a positive note, HALLELUJAH FIREBIRD FINALLY FUCKING WORKED! And I even got the minibot! |

Yeah, looking at Scylla's draw, it has a good chance to go 2-0 and finish 3-2, which gives it a damned good chance. sekhmet's in tough, though. Not impossibly tough, but Crash Blossom's a tall order |

So, I got my results in, but I do have one thing to ask about. NWOWWE: I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that Baron K. Roolenstein's lifter was a "clamshell" design since it's not clear in the CAD, but you said in your RP you were actively pressing it into the ground, which I can't see working unless the entire green part moves. And if it does, then even with the weight of the plow in the back there is just no way for it to lift another robot of its own weight. Can you clarify how the lifter works? If it's something like a clamshell where there's some kind of balance point in the front, I'd be happy to adjust the match to reflect that. |

Yeah, didn't think I was gonna win that HW one. Although it sucks to lose, I'm very pleasantly surprised to have won the Axe Annihilation match, and of course there was also the win with Dreadnought in Pressure Drop as well the other day, so that's pretty good. And as long as I can get a win with one of the other two this week, that'd suit me fine. |

Oh wow, Ceres beat the snek! That was also a very enjoyable read. When Ceres got flipped I thought that was it tbh. But good to know my tactic paid off. Even then, it was a nail-biter... then I saw the decision. Well written HDiT and commiserations Brad. Although HDiT, Ceres' RS plow not working inverted was intentional because I didn't truly think Ceres would get flipped by a vertical weapon. The plow would just make the weapon grind against it rather than catch onto something. But I guess if the weapon was powerful enough, it'd bust through the plow, which was what happened. Cool stuff.

Just as an aside, this part of of the Broken Ghost vs. K. Rool fight was somewhat... interestingA casual glance at both bots would indicate that monstertrucking would be quite impossible for either bot.

Eh? With Broken Ghost, if the bots collide front-to-front and are slightly off-center the opponent will ride up the sides of the dustpan, and if the spatula is in the front position it acts as a ramp too. There's nothing to stop monstertrucking unless he partially raises the arm and locks it there. I guess your tread pods would normally prevent monstertrucking, but it could still happen at a very high closing speed if the tip of his wedge gets caught by the "teeth" of your treads and popped into the air slightly.
Yah. 6 flat surface damage instantly creates an opening, and your plow was already warped from the previous hit. That was a really close fight despite the fairly lopsided decision. Red Snake could easily have won if the RPs were different. Your plan of "biting the bullet" and attacking his head would have gotten you KOed, but his strategy made it very easy for you to attack the side of his head and not get his by his weapon, and also basically gave up all aggression points. If he'd actually used his head to attack and keep you from pushing him around instead of focusing on trying to flip you with his tail (which wasn't effective due to your huge speed advantage and because your design can be lifted a lot and still have traction), I probably would have given it to him, but using his tail as bait like that actually put the bots in positions where it was really easy for you to attack the side of his head and avoid getting hit by his weapon. Also, that "Ouroboros" trick was one of the more creative strategies I've ever seen. I would never have thought of trying that. |
