Okay I sort of (in the loosest sense I suppose) understand the system now, but will Hellfire really need it? It has quite a bit of weight in front so I don't think it'll wheelie...
It's a solution to being "out-wedged" by Dreadnought in the reddit mini-tourney. Link to fight In the fight, I only managed to get one flip into Dreadnought while he managed to OOTA me. You are right in that most of the weight is in front of the wheels but if I go head on with another floor scraping wedge, the rear wheels eliminate any chance of wheelie-ing and going onto his wedge by being forced onto the ground by it's motor. The wheels push into the ground until it is inline with the same angle as the drive wheels are to the front edge of the flipper and that keeps the robot at that angle regardless if it's accelerating or decelerating. This means if I meet another wedge scraping the ground, I am less likely to bounce up and onto his wedge as I will be braced against the impact.

Quick notes:

Aphelion actually has a very similar system to Hellfire, although it just has a skid instead of unpowered wheels.

Asbestosstar: Quick tip: those dumpster/bucket things are still too small to catch a robot in. You also really need to consider adding sloped armor to your sides, or horizontal spinners will eat you alive. This goes double for multibots.

One other thing: I need a new superheavyweight since Danger Noodle got into the playoffs. I'm thinking I want to make a silly swiss army bot. Are there any rules on how many alternate attachments a robot can have, and can a robot switch to an attachment with reduced weapon power and use those points to increase its armor and give a bonus to the weapon, as long as the chassis armor stays the same? Heavy Metal Pain did this in Pressure Drop.

Example: a robot with a horizontal lifting clamp a la Big Nipper has these stats: Speed 7, Traction 6, Torque 3, Armor 10, Weapon 4 (3 clamp, 3 lifter). It can replace the clamp with a pure lifting wedge, reducing its weapon power to 3, and for this configuration has 11 armor (+1 lifting wedge). The chassis still has armor 10, but the lifting wedge has armor 12.

Aphelion cannot have a system like that if you didn't allocate points to it!

there are no rules, but there are different levels of pissed off that your opponents will be, dependent on how many different stat sets you have. as long as your drivetrain and body armor stay the same, I doubt you'll get too many complaints - Tesla's Revenge, Loadout and Ritual have all gotten away with stuff like that.

1) Configurations like that are acceptable. Only body armour and drive train need to remain the same.

2) I believe that it's fairly standard ARC practice to allow 4 different configurations.

3) You will need to inform opponents of which configuration that you will be using either by PM or by creating the thread and posting the details a minimum of three days before RPs are due.
