Replying to GF93 here as to not spam up the R4 rankings thread-and to address an issue: It has come to my attention that weapon armor bonuses follow the same '33%' rule as the armor bonus rule. However, neither the R4 or the standard ARC rulesets specify this as applying to *weapon* armor bonus. Example:  *All weapons 5 points or greater*-should mean just that, ALL. If the 33% rule does apply, it needs to be worded as such. I am not the only one who has been misguided by this. Also, this same confusion arised in a past tournament prior to my joining of ARC. I was only made aware of this by AngryGoat's rankings where he stated that neither The Thieving Magpie or Triple 6 would receive the +2 weapon armor bonus. I statted both robots specifically to have the minimum amount of weapon points to receive such bonus. I have also used these same two robots with the same amount of weapon points in CBC2 and at no point was the issue of weapon armor bonus brought up. I am willing to adjust Triple 6's stats, but I believe that The Thieving Magpie's flipper does fall under the 33% rule, and therefore, should still receive the bonus. I would like clarification on that, which is why I am posting this concern. I just want to enjoy participating in these events, as it has been a great way of having fun and getting to know some awesome people, both online and in real-life robot combat. Make ARC fun again, please! EDIT: Seeing as the L/W divisions are set, I cannot honestly alter Magpie's stats at this point. Guess it'll be in writers' hands... Yeah unfortunately the 33% rule applies to ALL armor bonuses of any kind. It wasn't meant to be a 'gotcha' sort of rule. It's just the nature of having a large complex ruleset that these kinds of misunderstandings can occur. However, we have typically allowed people in the past to designate what part of their robot's weapon the bonus applies to, if taken as a whole the weapon would be too big. I would be in favor of making a list of bots that break the 33% rule and giving teams the chance to designate a part of their robot receiving the bonus so that we don't have several teams that are just screwed. Bah. Losing to Klarinette by such a margin really wasn't what I was hoping for (usually, it's a lot closer), but definitely credit where it's due to Lian -- that new version of it is a beast! On the plus side though, I'm happy with Ayame's win. Here's hoping the Dreamcast ninja waifu can keep her momentum going from here! EDIT: And Marauder got a KO as well! Hey, I'm getting better, it seems. Held off one of the more terrifying opponents in SHW (in my opinion) for the whole round, and had a close JD. Maybe I'll get a win at some point this time! |

A little bit down about Dreadnought's loss to Klarinette, and what will more-likely-than-not end up being a massacre at the hands of Malacoda; I knew I should have just increased the armour and lowered the weapon when I had the chance instead of vouching for that stupid bonus, especially in a contest with no OOTAs and a buttload of uber-spinners.  Other than that, I'd say I'm pretty happy with how it went -- 3-1's quite a good result for not having fought in a long while, and looking at the week ahead, I'm hoping that I should be able to net a few wins if I play my cards right! |
