I was looking for a deciding factor (largely so the match could be more interesting than "they push each other around for 3 minutes and one of them does more pushing")
Unless it was in Lyra's tactics to do that, that is incredibly poor justification for having Lyra win the way it did, and even then that's very dubious. You do NOT just have something happen to spice up a fight you think is boring. If it's a 3-minute shovefest, that's the way it is.

I'm rather leaning towards a Depth Charge vs. Lyra rewrite myself.

something that hasn't been mentioned up to this point, since you aren't yet convinced by how poor of a match it was - you wrote that Lyra started pushing DC once it was inside the flipper:

result

Lyra rides up the wedge into the gaping maw of the clamshell flipper, and its momentum sends it slamming into the expose innards of Depth Charge II! And now, Lyra’s high-torque drivetrain comes into play, and it forces DCII backward into the spike strip and pins it.

in order to be inside the flipper, Lyra could not be able to have all 4 wheels on the ground, so its torque would have had to have been halved, meaning that both robots would have had even torque and this could not have occured

All right, since the prevailing opinion is to rewrite, go ahead... I mean, I guess it's technically NWOWWE's call not mine, but...

For what it's worth, I apologize for the trouble. I was operating under the belief that things which are within the rules (i.e. a spinner can't just rip a wheel off with a two-damage hit, said spinner won't break itself if it has 4 points of self-damage) and are things that could realistically happen in a combat robot match (e.g. robot with low ground clearance getting stuck on the wall when a lifter stacks it up there) are fair game. I stand corrected. I would also really appreciate any pointers on writing results, since I know some of mine have been controversial before.

By the way, I will not be able to write this weekend due to a family camping trip. I should be able to write for Week 11 and the playoffs though.

Maybe not in the "getting between the flipper and pushing him into the spikes" sense, but I could see how a rammer like Lyra could potentially damage the pistons on a clamshell flipper like Depth Charge. I mean- seeing as the internals and pistons and things are within relatively easy reach when open compared to something like say, Truth or Consequences (Which has the Flipper pistons right inside the machine, therefore out-of-reach to most things), I feel something like a rammer or other wedge could potentially collide with them, damage the pistons and prevent it from closing properly, even if by accident. Like, more of a design facet that ended up coming into play rather than cheating.

I never said it was cheating. And I never said that damage wouldn't be caused if a rammer got into DC's internals (Although I would have hoped 10 Armour would hold up better than it did :v: ). I'm saying that it didn't make sense to have it happen in that match in the way that it did. Possibility isn't the same as plausibility.

Also, I took issue with the explanation as to why the writer had it happen, which came across as thinking the match was 'dull' and deciding to crowbar it in for the sake of having something interesting happen.

I did, since the rewrite is now posted in the results thread. Sorry GF, but you weren't winning that one.

Also yeah, tournament's being delayed another week thanks to Josh being pre-occupied with work bullshit.

Right. So evidently it's not enough that it's just rewritten so that I lose, but it's a complete stomp as well just to rub salt into the wound.

As I said during our FB convo, we don't get our fancies off watching you whine about losses. We actually hate that. Please stop patronizing us like that.

Also Depth Charge had the major wedging advantage, and Lyra wasn't getting around a faster bot with better manoeuvrability. So you didn't get an attack in. It happens. Accept it and move on.

I myself sexually identify as a front-hinged flipper. If you can't accept that, you're a complaingendered cumslut and need to check your robot privilege.

I should go 3-1 this week but it'll probably be something like 0-4 or 0-5.

It sucks going 0-5. You lose all 4 of your bot fights for the week and you also lose at life.
